Definitely going back
Absolutely Wonderful!! The Hosts were our kind of people. Neighbors and other campers were great. I have a herd of kids wherever we go and we received compliments on our children from many. So many little nature perks. Views are gorgeous. No park rules except "Be kind and courteous" and if you don't like dogs this park is not for you. I can live with that. Dog's run free and have a blast in the river. We left our canoe and tubes down by the river, nobody stole our stuff. A few kids played on our tubes and put them back. That was pleasing and gave us security. We took walks and enjoyed seeing the works of future sites. Did I mention how awesome the park hosts are? Bob and Marsha I believe. Wonderful people, the kind of people to have morning coffee with. I understand there is confusion with online search sites, we experienced that ourselves but owners and hosts accomodated us well. Definitely going back and soon.
Gem not for the trendy or selective
Dos Rios is a really nice RV park for one or two day stays, any longer than that, the close proximity of the campsites becomes bothersome and you realize this is a vacation spot for a select few that don't mind rv spots ten feet from each other and with little to no shade in most spots. We had a really great time, the kids didn't mind the tight spots and luckily all of our neighbors in the other spots were extremely quiet. There is no phone service with Verizon and no internet, which we didn't mind. The river area is walking distance from most sites, but can become really crowded really fast. We ended up taking a drive to another part of the river completely secluded and you'd need 4x4 to get to. It was like having our own river. The day we were at the swimming hole next to Dos Rios, a guy pulled a gun on a little girl at the river area. That was scary. Other than that we had a really good time and would return again if we could get a spot under trees closer to the river.
Loved the campgrounds and the views! Was absolutely lovely. This place is a real retreat from stress and media. It’s private, quiet, peaceful, and relaxing. The fellow campers were friendly and respectful. We brought our kids and dogs and had a great time exploring together.
Perfect family getaway.
We stayed on site 3, but honestly any site would have been perfect. The location felt very private and secluded. The few people we did run into were very friendly. Llano River was literally a 1 minute walk from our site. The views were amazing. Definitely will be back. Family friendly environment. Water was safe for all ages. Only recommendation is to have a pair of water shoes. Overall wonderful experience.
We stayed in Dos Rios for a night. The location was amazing. Just as described. However, if you are looking for a quiet, private RV spot, then this is not the place. It was quite the party scene the night we stayed!
Colin confirmed our reservation promptly and Bob received us very well at his location. In our place to park the travel trailer we had a great view of the lake front. Beautiful and quiet place to relax with the family.
Great views, people and family fun!
We had a great time for the 2 nights we stayed. The park is right on one of the coolest parts of the Llano river where it meets the James around a rocky island in the center which it overlooks from a beautiful brown rocky cliff.
When we arrived, we were greeted by Bob who was extremely nice and gave us a few tips then showed us to our site.
We stayed in RV site #1 which is on the lower bench right above the river. Has a nice view and plenty of space between the pads which are crushed granite. Electric, water and sewage all there. The campsites look really secluded as well would would be ideal if we still planned to tent camp.
There are also Kayak rentals and a snack trailer run by a couple of really nice ladies with very reasonable prices considering the captive audience. The river was a lot of fun for adults and kids. Great way to cool off but easily 80 degrees F in May which was just right. The river is the main attraction for sure as there's not much else to do or many places to roam on the property.
We will definitely go back again after the COVID-19 thing blows over and when we can explore the town of Mason more.
