About the Bees Please do not bring or use any insect killer or insect repellent other than what you apply to your own body. We have several honey bee colonies living here and our neighbor keeps bees as well. For the safety and health of our bees, the use of man made insect killers or repellents on the ground, in the air or on the foliage is absolutely not allowed. One natural remedy is diatomaceous earth. Sprinkled on the ground, it does a good job at keeping ants and crawling creatures away. Brookshire's in Hawkins less than 4 miles away if you need supplies. This was easily my favorite site so far on Hipcamp! The hosts were friendly and accommodating, and the land was gorgeous. Daffodil Hill Lake #1 had a view of the water, nice shady tree coverage, a fire ring, and a large picnic table. We were able to use provided kayaks and a canoe to get on the water, where we went fishing and caught several small fish. The water itself was peaceful, sunny, and even had water lily pads blooming. The composting toilet, while primitive in setup, was clean, well maintained, comfortable, and positioned with a relaxing view. The site felt remote, with only the occasional glimpse of other campers.

The only note I'll give is that the lake is pretty small. It's a perfect spot for quietly putzing around or doing some relaxing fishing, but isn't large enough for any distance or more adventurous exploring. If you're looking for space to kayak/canoe instead of just chill, this probably isn't the right spot.

10/10 would recommend!

Lovely spot with a compostable toilet on site. Amazing fishing and water with access to kayaks and canoes. Other people do live on the small pond so you aren’t totally isolated but still a good spot for an escape from the city!

When we first discovered Hipcamp, we told ourselves that we would try out several sites until we found the one we liked. Well we have now gone to Bruce’s sites five times and haven’t tired anywhere else! Daffodil Hill Retreat has everything you could ask for and more: well kept campsites and compositing toilets, a lake full of fish, kayaks, and a accommodating host. We can’t wait to go back again soon! If you’re considering this site, go ahead and book it. You’ll have no regrets!

This place was an absolute gem. Finding this place was just what we needed. The leaves were SO beautiful which made a morning ride on the canoe magical. Campsite was clean, plenty of space, and we bought some wood on site. Very friendly and a wonderful escape. Besides Bruce and Jose, we didn't see anyone else the entire time. Had it all to ourselves! Definitely will be back!

Loved the outdoor bathroom, plenty secluded and smelled like fresh sawdust.Canoeing on the lake with beautiful trees. We fit two adults and two toddlers in this one just fine.

Beautiful land and scenery. Very quiet and peaceful. The hosts are nice and kind. Definitely recommend staying here if you're looking for a secluded spot that is still not too far from town!
