Site 2 - Terlingua Dark Skies
We had site 2 which we shared with friends so we paid extra for the extended campsite. Definitely recommend doing that if you have more than 1 tent. We loved the solitude and the gorgeous sunsets. Rainwater shower was great, esp. after day of hiking and we all thought the outhouse was nicest and cleanest we’ve used in years of camping. Karen and her cute dog Mojo were wonderful hosts-helpful and friendly with great advice. Location is also good if you’re trying to spend time in both the national and state park!

Site 6 - The private island
Karen was made to host people!! She was very attentive and so helpful. The campsite was so lovely and tucked away from all other sites. Her property is about 8 minutes from downtown Terlingua and 15 minutes from study butte. Mojo, the doggy concierge, was the cherry on top of this wonderful experience. The shower was amazing, she has an area dedicated to washing dishes, she provides toiletries is you are missing any, and she has an outhouse! Thank you, Karen for a lovely experience!

Site 6 - The private island
Loved the hospitality and scenery! Site 6 is super quiet and secluded / protected from the sun a little bit in a valley.

Site 4 - Bell tent with Chisos view
What a magical stay!!!
Wow! Just wow… the view from our tent “front door” was spectacular! We were on top of the ridge with the best view possible. The cots were really just like sleeping in bed! I recommend you pick the extra-wide option she offers. We had wonderful fires and quiet stargazing at night. Milky Way!!! Even though most of the other spots were occupied, we almost never ran across other campers during our stay. Evenings were peaceful. The shower was nice and hot & the outhouse was as good as an outhouse could be (not stinky at all!). She provided everything we needed for grilling and washing up afterwards. The tent was spacious enough for all our things (and of course we loved that we didn’t have to set anything up ourselves!). This spot was fairly close to where we parked our car, so not a lot of schlepping was involved. Terlingua is so well situated for making day trips to the state park and the national park, and we took advantage of both! Karen’s place is just a few minutes from the ghost town, too. So if you’re feeling super fancy & into your glamping experience, you could even run into “town” first thing for a cappuccino! As for us, we preferred to enjoy our camp coffee watching the sunrise over the Chisos. What a gorgeous experience it was and we can’t wait to get back!

Amazing site, quiet & great views
My boyfriend & I stayed here for 3 nights. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a quiet camp site near Big Bend. Took about 20 min to reach the West entrance. Karen is an amazing host, she was really attentive & ensured we had everything we needed.
Bathroom & showers were very clean. There is a grocery store nearby (Cottonwood General Store) if you need to purchase food. This site is also very close to Terlingua Ghost town for food & wandering around.
As a bonus, there is a short hike from her driveway going to an abandoned mine. Really cool to see and fairly short hike if you want to adventure nearby!
