Thank you for checking out Sandy Ridge Camping. (See google maps Sandy Ridge Pecans). We have six primitive camping spots providing privacy and serenity. All sites have a fire ring and picnic table. Site#1 is located in a clearing of trees and overlooks our small pond. Sites #2 and #3 have an open area that is surrounded by forest, which gives privacy and windbreak on windy days. Site #4 has woods on two sides, view to a pasture and pecan orchard. Site #4 is relatively close to the pond and 60 yrds from Site #1. Site #5 and #6 are along the forest and overlook a meadow. Running water and flushing toilet are near the farmhouse/greenhouse. Please bring potable water and be prepared to take away all your trash. You are welcome to refill your canisters at the spigot that is next to the Big Pecan Tree by the farm house (well water). Please make special note that the flushable toilet is near the farmhouse/greenhouse.
The campsites are in proximity to an operational pecan nursery with only the manager and his family residing on the property. You can enjoy wooded walking paths in the 80 acre forest and pastures, ponds and wildlife, including deer, wild hogs, hawks, owls, roadrunners, cardinals, jays, woodpeckers, mockingbirds and many other species of birds. Small mammals such as armadillos, rabbits, and squirrels are often seen, and the property is also awesome for star gazing. Please watch out for snakes, scorpions , pesky mosquitoes and ticks. If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
We loved our stay! The property was beautiful with plenty of privacy and Ingrid was wonderful. Our truck battery was dead when we woke up and Ingrid came to the rescue with jumper cables to get us going. We (and the dogs) had a blast and would love to come back.
Beautiful and peaceful
Beautiful camp grounds. The sites were huge, our dogs loved the pond. The hosts were fantastic, we would definitely recommend it. They do have livestock no property so we left with some ticks, but they were easy to remove with tweezers.
Bring. Bug. Spray!
Cody and Ingrid were great and the site we stayed at felt secluded from the other neighboring sites. Just please make sure you bring some kind of tick repellent. We came here last time in December and had no issues due to the cooler weather but they were in full affect on our last visit. We didn’t venture into the woods either but each of us had at least 3 ticks from just hanging out at the site. Other than that this location is perfect!
My third time at Sandy Ridge. This time we were at site #1 next to the pond on the property. Great site, with lots of space.
Ingrid strikes a great balance of being very friendly and nice, but also leaving you to enjoy camping privately. Will definitely go again.
