Quiet country getaway
We enjoyed the stay at Camp McLamb. To find a place near Stephenville with electricity, water, and sewer hookups was a big plus for us. The country setting was peaceful next to a lightly traveled county road. Our daughter enjoyed saying hello to the horses nearby and with two of three spots occupied, we had plenty of privacy. The grass by the space could use a mowing but it still gave some space for our dog to roam. Beware of little burrs in the grass that can stick in a pet’s fur or paws. The sunset was beautiful each night and the price was fair for the spot. Keep your eyes peeled for the small Camp McLamb sign on the west side of the road or you’ll miss it. We’ll eye staying here again in the future. It is close enough to Stephenville and Dublin to get into town, but far enough to get some secluded time in the country. The site was as listed with the pad nice and level. Thanks, Camp McLamb for sharing your peaceful space with us.
Highly recommend… will stay again!
We stayed for four nights and will definitely be back! Camp McLamb is a perfect location while visiting a student at Tarleton. We especially enjoyed the horses in the neighboring pastures, and the BEAUTIFUL sunsets! We did not actually meet the hosts, but their responses to our questions were always immediate (the camp sites are easily found/accessed, so host check in was not necessary). With water, sewer and 50AMP service, this HipCamp was the best!!!
Fantastic stay, big thumbs up!
The location was a perfect option for us while visiting a student at Tarleton. The site was level, and easy to back into (and looks out onto a horse pasture - which provided beautiful neighbors!) We booked for three nights, and extended for a fourth. The sunsets were spectacular, and we will definitely be back!
Nice alternative to an rv park.
We needed a place convenient to Stephenville, as our daughter is attending Tarleton, and we were coming up for the weekend to visit. It is not too far out of town and it was pretty quiet considering it is right off the road and right next to the working farm. Only 3 spots make it a nice setup compared to a packed RV park and the spots were nicely spaced. We loved having full hookups and having the dumpster available was nice! Make sure you have a long power cord and hoses as the hookups are behind the site and a longer rig with shorter cords and hoses might have a tough time connecting. Also, don't forget that 50amp adapter if your rig has 30 amp. We were told ahead of time so we could prepare but wanted to mention. Super easy check-in, no need to check in with anyone, just pull in your spot and set up. We have a few more visits planned this year to Stephenville and will consider staying here again. Virginia was super helpful and answered all my questions very quickly.
Camp McLamb was the perfect place to stay while we attended LJT. The full service hook up and quiet location was excellent. Conveniently located to the festival and to town. Beautiful land and livestock!
Quiet working ranch
The site is an elevated/angled pad near the road. No noticeable road noise though. Unfortunately, it had been raining all week and though the pad was pretty solid there was a lot of mud around it so make sure you back the trailer in with non-door side as close to the edge of the pad as you can so your steps don’t exit into the mud. Another note is all the hook ups are at the very back of the trailer now so if like mine, the black/gray tank pipe and fresh water connector are near the middle /front so needed the longer hoses for both. Used 50’ fresh and 15’ black/gray discharge hoses. Due to the angle of the pad needed my thicker block to level. If the weather cooperated, it would have been excellent! Definitely a working ranch. Saw cattle and horses and the location is very convenient to shopping and dinosaur state park. Would use this location again!
What a wonderful experience! I surprised my kids with this trip knowing there was a good chance of snow expected for the area and they had been dying to see some snow this winter. Upon check in the host came to check on us and say hi, so did the property pups and horses, which the kids loved! The sunsets and sunrises were beautiful from our site. The site area is open and level, which made getting backed in and set up nice and easy. There is also a trash receptacle at the entrance which made keeping cleaned up easy too. Our first full day we drove to Dinosaur Valley State park which was about a 45min drive from the site. A great trip for the kids to check out the dinosaur statues and look for dinosaur tracks in the river. The next day the snow came and it could not have been more magical! We spent the day playing in the snow with lots of space to explore at the hipcamp site and then the next day and the next day lol. The snow lasted longer than expected, but the hostess was great and accommodated me for an extra night until I was able to safely get packed up and out of the site. The hook ups were nice and convenient too. Nice in and out access and the views are great. Overall a great site and experience!
