"Glamp" in this cute off-grid cabin outside of Harper, Texas. Watch amazing sunsets & views from the relaxing front porch. At 2000' above sea level, you can enjoy the weather year round with proper planning. Enjoying campfires at night in the pit is a favorite past time. The Cabin sits on a high-fenced 84 acre wildlife refuge managed for Native Song Birds & Wild Turkey with walkable/bikeable trails. "Panther Creek" traverses the ranch & natural springs keep water in the ponds for wildlife. We have a family of Mini-Donkeys & a couple of Mini-Texas Registered Longhorns that roam the property. Stars are extremely bright at this location & the ranch is an excellent spot for star gazing. It is so quiet, most of the time you can hear the silence. Two miniature donkeys visit guests around the cabin & property to make sure you're safe, and you may see a couple of fallow deer or whitetail. The sounds of coyotes will call you most evenings and nights, and it's not uncommon to hear foxes, wild hogs and other wildlife throughout the night. If you are a light sleeper, you may want to bring some ear plugs. Bird seed & supplemental water are provided year round and make this a great destination for birders and outdoor enthusiasts. Many unique bird species have been spotted on the ranch. It is a 40 Minute drive to Kerrville or 30 min to Fredericksburg and Junction. Area attractions include Enchanted Rock, the Eckert's James River Bat Cave, South Llano River State Park, & Texas Hill Country wineries. A couple of Llano River crossings offer a nice place to cool off in the summer, or for putting in and out for kayak trips. Cook your meals at camp on the fire grate, or in the cabin on the 2 burner stove. If that's more that you want to mess with, head into the cute town of Harper for EXCELLENT meals at The Longhorn Cafe, or drop in and have a cold one at the Headwaters Saloon and soak up some local culture. We recommend bringing much of what you would for back country camping. Note there is no electricity, running water, or toilets, so come prepared. The Bio Light solar system inside the cabin works quite well for lighting, and a small solar generator. Ask the host for recommendations on what to bring and expect. We offer the HipCamp "extra" Firewood Bundle for $10 which allows you to DIY harvest any grounded deadwood during your stay. Please do not cut off any branches on any trees, even if they are dead, as we are mindful of Oak Wilt. Thanks!

This place was awesome! I would definitely stay here again. So quiet and secluded loved it!
Great little cabin.
We had an incredible time at the cabin. We had our own private slice of wilderness, interrupted only by the very sweet donkeys who came to visit us in the morning.
If you’re looking to get off the grid completely, this is the place. We did think for us scardie-cat city folks, however, that we might have been a little freaked out coming here by alone but if that’s what you’re looking for it’ll be perfect. It was an amazing experience to be out on this beautiful land and to have it all to ourselves.

As you drive towards the property, keep your eyes to the right. There's an exotic ranch and you might just see some cool animals. Be careful on the road though: it dead ends into a quarry, and so most of the traffic on the narrow road is big 18 wheelers.
Once you get through the gate, roll down a dirt road until the road T's. Take a left and the cabin will be on top of the small hill. While you don't need four wheel drive for this road, at least when it's dry, having higher clearance does help as there are a couple of bumps and ruts.
The property itself is stunning. The small cabin is well suited for a family or group of friends looking for a weekend getaway. It comes equipped with almost everything you need.
I barely scratched the surface of exploring this property, and definitely plan on coming back to stay again!

This little cabin is so charming! The donkeys are so funny and entertaining! They love attention and are really curious. The cabin is within an hour of quite a few parks and landmarks, and a little over half an hour to junction which was a really cute little town. Fredericksburg is about 45 minutes, and had some fun things to check out in the town, and not far was enchanted rock! I recommend to anyone wanting a rustic getaway.
This place is awesome! My fiancé brought me here for my 31st bday, we had a blast! The cabin is very cozy and comfortable. The donkeys are super sweet and very sociable, also entertaining; they followed us around a lot and like attention. It was also nice going for a stroll around the lot. The stars at night were EPIC!! You could even see the Milky Way:) 10/10 would def return!
We absolutely loved this property. Felt very safe with the gate and combo lock. Very private unique and beautiful. The mini donkeys were the highlight. So fun and friendly and made us feel not so ‘alone’. Only cons were that the location is quite far from civilization and no Verizon phone service on the property. Once you get ten minutes out of Fredericksburg no internet options. But that made us focus on being in nature so not really a con afterall. We hiked at Enchanted Rock. Be sure to make reservations!

The cabin far exceeded our expectations. The property was peaceful, Travis' communication was gracious and prompt, and we were greeted by the cutest donkeys in the morning! 10 out of 10 would definitely book again!
What a sweet cabin, beautiful land, and Travis was an excellent host! Ideal. Friendly tip: there were a lot of bees (which I love!) in and around the cabin. This changes with the seasons, of course, but if you have allergies or small children, you might want to ask Travis if they’re around before booking. Otherwise, outstanding!
