Solitude and room to explore await you at Bluff Creek Wilderness Preserve on 67 acres near Paige, TX. No house nearby, no small backyard, no dense campsites, just you, the gorgeous tall elms and oaks, the wildlife, and nearly 1 mile of clear, red-sandy creeks meandering through the property that run most of the year (except late summer)

There are only a few campsites scattered throughout Bluff Creek Nature Preserve so you will truly feel secluded. Grove on Bluff Creek is located on an inside bend of Bluff Creek, wrapping around the camp site. You can walk right down to the water from this site. A great space to hang out, relax, unwind and have fun. Nestled in a grove of trees, you get all the shade required in TX, with an open view looking out over the creek and the field just on the other side of a row of trees. Giving you that cozy, but open with a breeze feel.

There is some solar lighting (the remote is attached under the table), a fire pit with a swivel grill for cooking, and a few chairs. Down a little path there is also a dry composting toilet exclusively for this site.

Gathering firewood IS allowed, as long as it's dead and fallen.  Bring a saw!

When not hanging out at camp you can explore the 50 acres of woods, the 17 acres of grasslands, the larger Bluff Creek, and the smaller Leak Creek. Bring your kayak or canoe If you want to paddle down Bluff Creek, your telescope if you want to stargaze at the dark sky, your kite to catch the wind in the field, or your binoculars for birdwatching.

This was a lovely site and a peaceful getaway for a weekend. The composting toilet is great and super close to the campsite. It was fun to see the cows hanging out and we heard coyotes at night! Andrea and her husband were super responsive too.

What a beautiful stay! Will definitely be back! There was plenty of space for me, my boyfriend and the pup to roam and explore. I booked this as a surprise for my boyfriend and he absolutely loved it. The stars at night are breathtaking!!

Getting there!

Instructions are a little tricky at the end so go slow or you could pass the gate. We did get stuck in the mud but the host came and got us all settled fairly quickly. So seriously when in doubt just give em a call!

The space

It’s a pretty decent sized camping place with plenty of spots for you to set up camp. Parking is close enough for you to not really need a wagon (but we did use the one they offered which was perfect) but Far enough to not feel like your camping at your car. Being able to see the creek was a nice touch as well. And there’s a spot for you to keep firewood whether you bring it or collect it. (There’s plenty to collect and there was some already at the site) You’re also welcome to explore which we did! There is a huge grassy field that was great for evening and morning walks along with a few trails.

The amenities were a nice touch and there’s notes explaining everything as well. The composting toilet was clean and ready to use. (You can also just go in the trees) we didn’t use the solar lights because we couldn’t get them working and didn’t want to call but it was no big deal since I had brought my own.

Noise

It’s QUIET. So if seclusion is what your looking for I HIGHLY recommend. It’s just you and nature sounds. We didn’t see any deer but I def heard them lol (with the occasional deer hunting sounds as there’s a place nearby for that. It was very few and far in between)

Access

We packed all our stuff with us so we never left the camp site and I think that might be best. It isn’t really near much so I recommend bringing it all before you get there. The closest thing is a gas station and it’s still about 10/15 minutes away.

Overall we had a fantastic stay and will be coming back to check out the campsite in the Summer.

Cool camp site. Over looks a bend in the creek. Couple level spots to pitch tents. Didn't see any widow makers above though there were a few dangling limbs that might put a hole in a tent. It was quiet and peaceful. The creek doesn't flow much. Went fishing on the deep side where the road crosses over the creek to a field and caught a 10-in bass on the First cast. Got up to make coffee around 6:30 right at daylight or a little after saw a huge buck walking down by the creek. All in all it was a good trip and the campsite was well maintained. Thank you for your hospitality Andrea.

We really enjoyed camping here. The composting toilet is a nice touch. The wildlife is abundant, the air is crisp, the water is fresh. Nicely shaded area on the edge of a creek and pasture.

My family (2 adults, 2 kids under 10, 2 dogs) had a great time at the Grove on Bluff Creek.
The site is set on a bank in the bend of the creek with the forest on the camp site side of the creek and a wide open field on the other side, just past the tree lined creek. To get to the field you have to cross the creek and go up the opposite bank. It was easy for us because the creek was dry but if it were full it may be hard to get to the open field.
Once entering the property you will drive ~.4miles, taking you to the end of the road near the creek. The road is a little bumpy but is navigable by car. Just take it slow. It may be a little touch for a car if it rains. We were the first to camp at the site so there was a ~100ft path to walk down to get to the camp site, however I understand there is further clearing happening right now which will allow you to park very close to your camp site. We were provided a cart to haul our goods down the path which was a life saver.
The site itself is in a beautiful spot and really well laid out. We had space to set up our 8 person tent on a fairly level spot. There is an outdoor dining table with 4 chairs which provided a nice place to set up our small gas cook top and eat our meals. The fire pit, which includes a swivel grill top, is on the creek bank so you can sit and enjoy a fire while looking over the creek or up through the trees to enjoy the night sky. There are solar powered lights that stretch the length of the site and provided enough light so we could see to walk around but not so much light that it ruined the ambiance. The lights stayed on for at least 3hrs but probably have more run time than that. There is an easy way to turn the lights off and on as well. We were also able to hang our hammock between two perfectly positioned trees (you'll know it when you see it). The toilet was an awesome addition. It's close enough to the camp to be convenient but far enough away to be private and avoid a smell. This is a great added luxury. Additionally, there is potable water available at the entrance to the property.
Overall we had a great experience and would love to return.
