Campers park at our 4R WindShed Wine Tasting Room parking lot and hike a short ways to get to the beautiful campsite. This is a two minute walk from the tasting room and our Camo Cafe. Moreover, this campsite is right at the entrance to our Brambles mountain bike trail.
IMPORTANT: Campers cannot drive their vehicles to this campsite. Therefore, this is not the campsite for campers who have teardrop trailers, rooftop tents, etc.
Also bear in mind: There is no toilet and no shower except during the times that the tasting room is open (see winery website at 4rwines.com for hours). However, this campsite is just a few minute's drive from the main campsite entrance, where we have showers and a toilet.
To get to this campsite from the 4R front gate, follow the signs to the winery tasting room. Park at the tasting room parking lot. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DRIVE TO THIS CAMPSITE. Walk out on the front lawn of the tasting room and look for the steps that are on the north corner of the lawn. Walk down those steps and you will see the sign for the mountain bike trailhead. Rather than turning left onto the trail, walk past that sign up the mountain bike trail to the north and in 200 feet or so you will come to an opening on the shoulder of the ridge, and you will find the campsite with the fire ring.

I had a great time and look forward to returning. I initially booked the “top of the ridge” campsite which is beautiful but it was super windy that day so I found campsite #15 in the regular camping area and it was perfect. The next day I rode the mountain bike trail (my main reason for coming) and had an absolute blast. Everyone I encountered in person and on the phone was super nice and helpful. It’s a cool escape without too long of a drive and I’ll definitely be back.
Great location, and it was private and staff at the tasting room was friendly and very helpful to pick out some wines to take home. I had the balcony all to my self with a spectacular sunset. Oh and to top it off I did hike the entire 8 miles trail with my doggo and it almost was a type 3 fun. All and all we created a great memory we will not forget. Thank you very much for hosting us and sharing this great place. We will return soon.

The camping experience was breathtaking! The campsite was on top of the hill overlooking the nearby farmlands. The Winery was closed when we camped here though. We enjoyed the long hike on the property and it did not feel like Texas thanks to the hilly trail. Like other reviewers mentioned, there is a small walk to the campsite so be sure to bring a wagon to carry your stuff or make multiple trips from the car. All in all, we loved it and would revisit.
We stayed in the second week of November. It was chilly at night, perfect during the day, and there was some fall color. There is no picnic table or sunshade at the site, just a fire ring- I think this is ideal as the spot isn't cluttered, but just know you'll need to bring some surface to work/eat on. We used thebtipnof our camp bin and a small backpacking table. Bike/hike trail is awesome! Sunrise/sunset is awesome! Wine and bathrooms walking distance from the site? Yes. Stars at night? Yes. 10/10 would come back.

Great views. Our group loved camping on top of the hill. Had a great time. Just be aware of a things so you aren’t disappointed. The portapotty toilet is down the hill about a quarter of a mile. And you can’t drive right up to the camp site. You take a trail 100 yards or so to get there.
I want to keep this place a secret. Let me be honest with you. Not the type thrilled with texas flat nature. More of a hill/mountain person. This place is the gem. Very unique. Like a piece of hidden heaven. Had a brief onteraction with Walt last year. He made up for an issue with great hospitality to their VIP campsite and a case of his wine for free. Really a great person and my refuge in october and November.
We had an amazing time!! The staff was fantastic, Walt was amazing. I totally think we will be back!
The site was stunning! Gorgeous views all around. Very private and quiet. We had to cut our stay short due to some rain (we took a risk not putting the rain fly on our tent!) but we will be back and bring friends. Firewood was already laid out by the fire pit when we got there. Would like to try some of the wine when we return and bring our bikes for the mountain bike trails. Thank you for a lovely experience!
