Sleep amongst a variety of wild and weird creature sculptures in a campsite like no other. A secluded hilltop property on 5 acres of trees, an easy 20 minute drive to Nashville. We have great sunsets up here on the hill, a peaceful little dead-end road. The campsite is at corner of our property, tucked just out of sight of our house a couple hundred feet away. You can even get a painted wood cutout version of your favorite creatures from Brett! (see extras and message us for availability)
Stay in our camper, a 1963 Shasta, remodeled by us. We removed all of the old broken camper stuff and it is now a simple, colorful room inside, with a full size bed and some fun funky art from our collection. Enjoy an old VHS movie on the little tv, or some classic cassettes in the tape recorder.
The accomodations are minimal but functional. There's electricity, lights and outlets for charging etc. There's a cooler, fan, a electric cooktop, electric teapot, and mini-fridge. Also some cookware and dishes, and press-pot for coffee. Cook up some dinner on the propane grill outside. There is no indoor plumbing, but a large water jug and bucket for washing up, as well as a container for drinking water (we will provide 2 gallons of fresh drinking water in a glass containter upon arrival but you will be on your own after that) Well-water is available at a spigot near the camper. An air conditioner is available to keep you cool, and a space heater to warm you up. There's a firepit just outside with plenty of places to sit. Firewood is available for sale from us (see extras).
The equally wild and weird outhouse and outdoor shower (with on demand hot water!) is just a few steps down hill in the trees. T.P. and soap included. You can buy supplies and food at a big-box store just a few minutes down the road. There are plenty of places to hike etc out this way, our favorites are Beaman Park, Bells Bend Park, and the Bi-Centennial Bicycle Trail in Ashland City.
Well-behaved pets are allowed but please keep them leashed. Be sure to give us a heads up to let us know what furry friends will be joining you :)
*** WINTER NOTE--- During the winter months, depending on the weather, the shower and outdoor spigot may not be available due to freezing temps. we will try to keep it available as long as possible. we will still provied jugs of water for drinking and washing up, the heater keeps things cozy in the camper, so no worries there. Feel free to check with us about the shower status.

The best trip ever!!!!
Brett and Rebecca are the sweetest hosts and Creature Camp was so cool, you’ve got to check it out for yourself! My partner and I wanted a nice break from college and our technology and Creature Camp was the perfect getaway. We listened to Merle Haggard on cassette while roasting marshmallows and watched E.T. on VHS together before bed. The compost toilet was super easy to navigate and the host’s dog, Peanut, greeted us every morning. Overall, it was a great trip and we can’t wait to come back!
We had the best stay! Such a cool vibe, fun creature friends, beautiful view. The place stayed nice and warm inside with the heater and the outdoor shower had lots of hot water. So cozy. Visits from their pup were the best! Will absolutely return.
A night amongst some creatures
This place was so cool! It’s unique to any other stay we have ever had. The camper, creatures, and outdoor showers were awesome. We had a blast chilling by the fire listening to old tapes and playing the funky “guitar”. Everything is well taken care of and maintained. The camper, composting toilet, and outdoor shower were clean and well kept. Thanks for having us and our pup!
Creative, cute & charming!
This place is so fun! It has such a chill, creative vibe throughout. The little details inside the camper were perfect… watching E.T. on VHS was like the good old days. The outdoor toilet + shower experience was actually fabulous. What a view 😍 We loved being greeted on our second morning by Peanut the dog, she’s a beauty! And hearing the ducks “laugh” during our stay. So many good things to say about this place. Can’t wait to stay again! Thanks Brett & Rebecca.
What a trip💫💫🌌
What a magical place…this is the reason we tried out Hipcamp instead of AirBnB for our road trip. We wanted something original, and Creature Camp is incredibly original. The camper van/Shasta is the perfect size for two people (plus a dog) and very comfortable and cozy, especially since it rained the whole time we stayed. The details make it an exceptional experience: incense, cassette tapes/player (we played Willie, Merle, and the Everly Brothers), the skull bottle opener, the light up skull, the books, the tarot deck…on and on. We kept saying to each other: “can we just live here?” Then there’s the art…you’re just surrounded by these fantastic creatures that feels like you’re living in Yellow Submarine/Pee Wee’s Playhouse/a psychedelic trip! And for an a la carte charge you can buy a small piece of art! This is something we’ll remember for years and hope to return to for a longer stay. Thank you Brett and Rebecca!
Absolutely amazing place to stay! We got in super late so unfortunately couldn’t stay long, but our short night at creature camp was fantastic. Brett and Rebecca had everything prepped for us when we arrived. We were greeted by all the creatures with a little radio was playing in the background. It felt absolutely magical and my only complaint is that we couldn’t stay longer. We bought one of the creature cut outs and I’m so glad we have something to remember this inspiring place by! I really hope we get to return. Thank you so much for a wonderful night 🤩
A creative gem!
Creature Camp was awesome!! The creature sculptures were so creative and a must see, and the Shasta was so cozy, a perfect getaway! We would highly recommend it. Lots of restaurants nearby and a Walmart for anything you need, plus only 20 min to Nashville!
