Welcome to Valais Ranch & Retreat!
We are Eric and Lolly Clough, and my husband and I named our ranch after the Swiss Valais Blacknose Sheep (a.k.a. "The World's Cutest Sheep!") If you've never heard of this ADORABLE breed of sheep, you absolutely MUST. GOOGLE. THEM... and like so many others, you will fall in love just like we did - so much so that we became part of the official breed-up program to bring this wonderful breed to the US! We currently have 9 wonderful Valais Blacknose sheep and lambs and are expecting more lambs in the Spring of 2024!
Come stay in our large canvas tent that's pitched on a wooden deck near the edge of our pond, or walk our beautiful 19 grassy and wooded acres to find your favorite spot to pitch your tent. During your stay, feel free to explore our property, do some fishing or just hang out by our pond, take a relaxing snooze in our hammock, feed the chickens turkeys and ducks, pet our loving LGDs, (Livestock Guardian Dogs) pose for professional pictures while snuggling with our sheep and goats, then start a campfire and make smores under the stars."Frodo's Favorite Spot" is located wherever you choose to set up camp on our 19 fenced acres. Upon your arrival, we can walk the property with you to point out some prime locations, or you are welcome to scope out your favorite location on your own. Our only request is that you notify us of your chosen spot so we can make sure it is safe for you. Should you find a spot that requires some clearing out of leaves, branches, etc. you are welcome to borrow our rakes and/or shovel, if needed. Just text us any requests, and we'll do our best to accommodate!
A compost toilet is available, which we will set up inside a private popup tent near your campsite.
*** PLEASE NOTE: It is very important that guests are self-contained, take their compost toilet waste, and all regular trash with them upon checkout, and leave no trace or fees will be imposed. ***
(A separate solar shower in its own private popup tent is not available yet, but will be coming soon!)
We will provide a 5-gallon container of potable water for you at no charge. Should you require more water, an additional 5 gal bottles can be provided for a small fee, or you may use our spigot/hose to refill them for free, which is just a short walk from any location on our property.
We have a small pull-behind hand wagon that you may use to pull any items you need to/from your campsite or vehicle. However, depending on the condition of the ground, you may be able to drive the items to your site using your vehicle, or we may be able to use our ATV and trailer to assist you. Please text us upon your arrival so we can determine how best to move your items/gear to and from your campsite.
IMPORTANT: For safety and insurance reasons, we do not allow alcoholic beverages or recreational drugs of any kind anywhere on our property. Additionally, while we are ardent supporters of the 2nd Amendment, again, for safety and insurance reasons, firearms are also not allowed on the property.
