We reserved a site for two nights but ended up not staying at all. We arrived at the farm and were immediately put off by the condition of the grounds, lack of directions, and overall feeling of the place. The site we reserved (#4) was not capable of even placing a tent on because of the poor condition of it. The farm did not match the pictures that were posted online. There was no host to be found and we were unable to reach him by calling the listed number. When we finally did get a hold of the owner he was out of state and not very considerate of the situation. Overall we did not feel safe staying at the farm and had to go stay at another campground. This reservation was underwhelming, disappointing, and unacceptable. I would not recommend this listing to anyone.
A bit of a disappointment
I'm bummed to say that this farm wasn't what it seemed from the photos. The two other groups of campers I ran into were just as thrown off. Overall, the farm is more overgrown. The layout on the ridge is tough to navigate. My city car had a rough go trying to climb back out of the gravel road that led to camp. The campsites were set along one gravel road along a narrow ridge. I booked campsite 1, which was the best of the 4 options because it was at the end of the road with a little more room and a little view of the lake, but the campsites are all squished in close proximity between shed sites—this is not a place for those looking for quiet and privacy. Lesson learned—if the listing doesn't include photos of the campsite itself, steer clear :) I saw the host once on day 2. He didn't realize we'd already been there for a day, and he ran a big, loud brush-clearing machine on our first morning for an hour. He was pretty removed from the experience, all in all. We never found the road down to the lake from the property.
We had a great time in a beautiful spot. It is not far from the interstate on hwy 56. Once you are on the hwy its not far on your right. Convenient location yet you can't tell that you aren't miles away. There is a bathroom and shower. There is wood available at each site. Carl was very nice and stayed in touch with us. On our last day he brought us some homemade bread. We would definitely go back. Thank you for the nice stay Carl!
Beautiful weekend for the soul.
The Cherry Hill Farm was a gorgeous getaway for the weekend. Carl was a phenomenal host and treated us to a wonderful night of music amidst the calls of the frogs. We stayed at site 6 and could not get enough of the view. The site was extremely well kept and perfect for a group of 4. We will be returning and spreading the work to anyone who will listen!
Carl is one of the treasures of the mortal world. He let us have the pick of the place and came by to check on us when we got settled. We brought our 2 dogs and was worried we may have bit off more than we could chew but the setup was very convenient (and beautiful).
Great place, esp for musicians.
Cherry Hill Farms is a really unique place. It's affordable and easily accessible to small and midsize RVs. The tent camping area is pretty cool, however this is not the place for you if you want privacy (unless you are the only one there). Would be an awesome spot to group camp. The tent-area bathhouse does have working toilets and showers. The showers get pretty hot (there is no temp control), but at least they're not cold. My favorite part about this campground is the Saturday night jams that take place at the stage near the horse stables.
Such a great stay!
Such a great stay! We had tent camping spot #1 and it was awesome. Such a great view. Next time I’d rent shed #6 along with spot #1 to store things, etc. Tent spot #1 didn’t have any great spots for hammocks but the view is worth it. Sheds 6 and 5 both have great views as well. I have a Jeep Renegade and was able to park at the spot and attach my SUV tent, though there was no way to use the provided cedar chip bed in that scenario. We put another tent on the cedar bed and it all fit perfectly. The bathrooms were passable but could have used a good cleaning - just mud etc, not anything gross. Carl was great and came to meet us after we arrived at our spot and invited us to come pick and sing with him on his stage! The next morning he greeted us on his horse. Grounds are centrally located near multiple put-ins on the Caney. A half hour drive, but Burgess Falls is a must-see! Overall, an excellent experience and we’ll definitely be back!
