Primitive camping
Best for self-contained campers. There are no toilets, showers, or potable water at this Hipcamp.
CLOSED FOR THE SEASON (Reopen in March) Our camping spot is perfect for primitive camping. Self-contained campers can come and pitch a tent and get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. You will need a 4x4 to get up the hill as the road is loose gravel. We just completed the new road. Once you get to the top, you will find a wide-open flat area that's about 50ft x 50ft. The entire area is gravel, so plan to bring padded bedding. Enjoy the fire pit and picnic table, and plenty of open space for you! You are minutes away from the Abrams Falls Ranger station where you can hike, fish or simply take a dip in the creek! For those who enjoy a thrill, the Tail of the Dragon is less than 15 mins away. There are several bodies a water nearby for fishing or boating. And of course, Cades Cove is just a hop skip and a jump from our little spot. Tomascik Acres Woods is a quiet, simple camping spot and we are ready help you and your family enjoy a piece of the Great Smokey MountainsPitch your tent at the top of our brand-new clearing with a spectacular view. We have a firepit set up to enjoy and picnic table as well. There is zero cell phone service, so this is "roughing it" at its best. You are minutes away from beautiful bodies of water to go fishing. You can hike in Great Smoky Mountains, and you can find your way to Cades Cove or other fun family activities. We are a hop skip and a jump to Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg and Sevierville. We are less than 3 miles from the Abrams Creek ranger station where you can hike, fish or just splash in the water to cool off. If you are looking for primitive camping.... this is your spot. We do have neighbors but there is plenty of forest between you and them, so enjoy yourself. Just remember to keep it down when the sun goes down and drive slowly on our road 😊

Secluded Campsite, Spectacular View
This place is perfect. And for the price you really just can't beat it. Plus the hosts were perhaps the most communicative we've ever had, not just on HipCamp, but among the many other short term rentals we've visited as well. The property is private, overlooking the gravel (loop) road that goes in and out. It's very secluded but you can hear traffic coming in and out on the gravel road below, though that is very rare (I'd say we saw maybe 4 trucks pass in our 2 days there). Perfect view of sunrise, though we're more sunset folks which was on the other side of the mountain, and if you're lucky enough to have clear skies the stars are AMAZING. Location is perfect. 20 minutes to Townsend, 50 minutes to Gatlinburg. As long as you understand that this is primitive camping you will not be disappointed! WAAAAY better than the packed campgrounds in town. Next time we're that way, this is our spot again for sure!

Directions were precise, and Jason even checked to see which way we were coming from to give us the most accurate directions. Hill up to camp spot is very steep and a good bit of loose gravel, so definitely recommend AWD or 4x4. We did have FWD (van) and were able to get it up, but someone not experienced in driving their FWD up a loose gravel hill will probably have more difficulty. The only place to really set up tent is on the gravel - so definitely want to have something to sleep on for comfort. We didn't bring an air mattress, but we padded the tent floor with plenty of blankets.
