If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
This place is unlike anything else, and anything I write here will not do it justice. I'm gonna try though.
First of all, Kelly and her partner were fantastic. They were so sweet and accommodating; they truly helped make our stay special.
The land. Oh my gosh, I cannot say enough great things about this place. I stayed with my boyfriend and dog, and we were entirely secluded the whole time. The only other people we saw were occasional kayakers down the river. Our camp was directly on the water, with our own private beach area to relax on and fish from. The sounds of the river can be heard day and night and are so incredibly peaceful.
At night, the stars are out in full and the moon shines bright on the river, allowing you to see the water even during the darkest part of the night. There are more fireflies than I have ever seen in my life, and they light up the forest like glitter. It was unbelievable.
This place is truly amazing, the most beautiful place I have ever had the pleasure of camping. We absolutely cannot wait to be back!
Quiet, serene, beautiful.
This campsite was amazing. It was quiet, away from people, with the most epic river view. The host was super friendly and helpful. We already are looking forward to staying at this site again!
Kelly and her husband were awesome. The location was fantastic and the view was amazing. About 25 minutes away you can hop on a trolley to downtown Gatlinburg. The property is a work in progress right . Would still highly recommend the location.
Can’t wait to go back!
With more love this place would be fantastic !! Kelly is working hard to make this place a dream. We drove in an Astro camping van and had no issues navigating the ruts . It’s lovely, serene and the ebb and flow of the river is mesmerizing!!! We will be back, we would love to see your progress!
I absolutely loved staying here. The property was beautiful and staying on the river was a dream. I can’t wait to come back in the future. Kelly was a wonderful host and has worked really hard to make this camping area special. 10/10 for me!!
We were originally pretty disappointed when we arrived to find that the riverside site we selected in check out was already taken by another group. We might not have chosen this listing if the sites right next to the river were booked so we were bummed to have to set up camp at another site away from the water. Sounds like this was a technical issue with the host's calendar and Hipcamp.
However, the host was very friendly and we still enjoyed our stay. Douglas Lake was just 20-25 minutes away and a great spot for our kayaks. This property is right on the Pigeon River, which is very nice and a great spot to take a dip. The stretch of river on this property has a lot of whitewater, so not the best for big kayaks that aren't built for that. This property is kind of close to the highway so there are some road noises that cut through at times. Also, these campsites are really quite close to each other so this might not be for you if you like more privacy.
This place is a work in progress for sure as they're just getting going with setting up the land and sites but could become a really nice campground after more TLC. This wasn't exactly what we expected but we still had a nice weekend.
What an amazing trip! We stayed 3 nights, 4 days, at The River Life. Best vacation ever!! The land & water is breathtaking! Campers arent right on top of one another. Plenty to do, but surprisingly i spent a lot of time simply sitting, enjoying my surroundings. If it gets too hot jump in the swimming hole or wade in tge river. Hostess, Kelly is a wonderful person. She is kind and helpful. I talked my husband into tubing for the first time. Kelly put us on tubes and even babysat our four-legged baby boy so we could enjoy our ride down the river worry free! How many hosts woukd put you on a tube and be waiting for you at the end with your pup?
Also, we got to take a ride in her slingshot, available to rent, which is a dream of ours. And, you guessed it, cared for our pooch during our joy ride. I cant wait to get back to The River Life. I highly recommend this site.
