Location was amazing. Property was beautiful. The platform needs to be leveled. It’s very crooked and after the first night we ended up staying elsewhere. It was an amazing experience and we loved the area so much we have decided we want to call this area home.

Definitely use the written instructions to gain appropriate access to the campsite! You will park below your site around 500 ft. You will need to hike up (no steps, just a pathway that was slippery when wet, but once you get to the platform, you are living in the trees! There is a fire pit, but you'd have to really commit yourself for a few firewood runs. No level ground at site besides the platform, so limit need for excessive tents, etc. The view/feel of back-packing, but with the comforts of your car being a short hike down! The best of both worlds, in my opinion! Will be back ASAP!

We're so glad that Josh had a chance to experience David's Dugout - our secluded primitive campsite in the woods of our Western NC property surrounded by Nantahala National Forest. It is an adventure to get to - and to build by the way :) - but like he said - once you're there - it's a haven for relaxing and soaking it all in. It's for those adventurous spirits like Josh who are willing to hike their gear up a mountain to be able to experience something unique. Then explore the area and find the secret swimming holes and jump off the cliffs into crystal clear water, fly fish or white water raft on the Nantahala River, jet ski on the Lake, drive motorcycles on the Tail of the Dragon etc. Looking forward to having you back again! ANYTIME!

Great site in a great location. We went trekking into the Nantahala Forest and returned to rest comfortably at the tent platform. Perfect for the budget-minded backpacker!

This was such a fun trip! We only stayed one night, but it was still enjoyable. The hike up to the platform was no joke, definitely harder than it looked, but once you got there it was so worth it! Mike was a great host! He was helpful in every way possible and his emails were very informative! We will be back!

We love to share our #NantahalaVacations properties with like minded outdoor enthusiasts looking to disconnect from cell service, social media, and email for a TRUE vacation! Just imagine watching the sunrise over the misty Smokey Mountains, then going hiking on the Bartram & Appalachian Trails, white water rafting the Nantahala River, jet skiing on Nantahala Lake, fly fishing and Rope Swings, cliff jumping at our secret swimming hole, and then returning to a nice grilled dinner & roasting marshmallows over the fire pit, gazing at the beauty of a stary night sky...these are the kind of things we and our guests enjoy. But, it's hard to do all of that in just one trip, so we're looking forward to hosting Cy again....soon!

Mike’s campsite was great; private and beautiful! The tent platform is large enough for a 6 person tent. One item worth mentioning; the hike up to the tent platform is steep (as was mentioned in the listing!) so don’t plan on bringing anything heavy such as a hard cooler up to the campsite. We absolutely plan on returning here again and would recommend this to anyone!
