This is the perfect place to rest and experience a little bush luxury not far from Hobart in between your Tassie camping adventures.
Located just a 20 minute drive from Hobart, the 0.67 hectare coastal bush property is set in a little valley right by Kingston Beach, Browns River and Tyndall Beach. It's just a short 5 minute stroll down the road to the beach, or up the road to the start of the Alum Cliffs Track.
You'll go to sleep hearing the sound of the sea, and wake up to birds singing.
You'll stay in the recently built comfortable bedroom with ensuite bathroom tucked under my house. There's a double bed made up with fresh linen. You'll enjoy a hot shower, flushing toilet and almost complete privacy. Mains water means no problem with water. With prior notice you could use the washing machine inside the house and hang your clothes on the makeshift clothes line strung between trees.
Parking for two cars and/or caravan/campervan is easy. A circular driveway surrounds the house with a driveway extension.
Work is planned to build an outside kitchen at the nearby shed, but for now campers need to be self-contained for their cooking and washing up, or else walk to Kingston Beach or venture into town for meals. I'm a keen gardener; food scraps go in the compost bin on site.
Visitors are welcome to enjoy a fire when conditions allow it. Firewood is free and can be easily collected from around. There's a wood fired bush bath to use too, conditions allowing, with advance notice.
Wildlife are aplenty, including birds, wallabies, possums and bandicoots.
You are welcome to bring your small dog but please ensure it's under control at all times. Wildlife are at risk if your dog is a hunter and roams free. Tyndall Beach (the Kingston dog beach) down the road is where your furry friends can have a run. Walk them to the beach on a lead and let them off there.
I hope you enjoy your stay here, and I very much look forward to meeting you!

This was a beautiful spot to stay over the Easter long weekend. Truly a refuge by the sea. The apartment itself is perfectly sized & bathroom was great. Heating was excellent. The sound of the sea & the birds was very peaceful - but the shops of Kingston were actually just minutes away. Barbara is a great host with excellent communication.
Barbara’s place is a well kept secret! It is quiet, relaxing and the outdoor bath experience was just magical! The interior space is beautiful, meticulously decorated with all the comforts. We were toasty with panel heaters in both rooms, and the location is perfect - just a short 2 min walk to the beach and another 5 mins to cafes. Highly recommend and can’t wait to come back!

Thank you Mindy for your beautiful review! You were easy guests and very kind. I look forward to seeing you again sometime in the future. :)
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Barbara’s bush retreat.
A camp without a tent … perfect when you love the bush and beach but need a comfy bed. Short walk to beach. Can have your own private camp fire or a bush bath!
Highly recommend. Barbara is the perfect hostess and made us feel very welcome.

Thank you for your review Dora and Rod! It was lovely to meet you both. The sweet strains of Rod's saxophone drifting into my space and your openness were bonuses. I wish you a fun-filled adventure as you travel further, and I sincerely hope to meet you again one day.
Barbara has a beautiful spot so close to Kingston Beach yet so private and quiet in wonderful nature! We loved our stay :)

Thank you very much for your review Tara. It was a pleasure to host you and your partner. I'm only sorry you couldn't have had more down time while you were here! All the best. :)
The perfect retreat in the Bush and close to the ocean. Shops are short walk away if needed too. I took my little camp cooker and esky and not having a kitchen was not a problem. I enjoyed the simplicity. I thoroughly enjoyed exploring the trails that are right on your doorstep.
Comfy, clean and delightful place to stay. Highly recommend Barbara's place.

Thank you Karen for the great review. It was an absolute pleasure to host you! All the best for your future. :)
We loved the location and Barbara is a lovely host, the place was as advertised, cosy and comfortable, we would recommend highly xxx

Thank you Leisa. It was a pleasure to have you stay, and I hope I see you and Fabio again! :)
Wonderful accommodation, bush/ beach setting and host.

Thanks Cath, it was equally wonderful to have you as my guest! Enjoy the next stage in the adventure that is your life. Warm wishes, Barbara
Cute little unit with a comfortable bed and lots of thoughtful little touches.
Barbara was a friendly host and great with communications.
This would be an ideal spot for someone travelling with a van who wants a base where they can access the Channel/Huon and Hobart areas by car.
Also just as good for some car free time as there are walks around the area and Kingston Beach is nearby.
Highly recommended!

Thank you for your recommendation Amanda! I loved having you and your partner stay and am glad that you got the chance to really relax here. Thank you for leaving the place clean and tidy too.
My family and I absolutely loved our stay at this gorgeous little bush hideaway, situated just above Kingston Beach and within walking distance of some amazing walking trails, including the Alum Cliffs track to the Shot Tower in Taroona. Barbara was a wonderful host - very friendly and thoughtful, and the accommodation was lovely, with one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in! I can highly recommend this beautiful bush retreat! :)

Thank you Siobhan for your positive review! I very much enjoyed hosting you and your young family. Despite the potential for noise with three young boys, there was none! You and your partner were very friendly, communicated well and were respectful and considerate at all times. Thank you for leaving the rooms tidy and clean. Hope to see you another time.
