We have a 1/2 acre property on the Cowlitz River in the middle of Cooks Ferry Park in Castle Rock WA. We bought the property to relax in a beautiful setting close to home. We only live 15 minutes away. The property is made up of dredge spoils from when Mt. Saint Helens blew and is inside of a park where people can go to fish and enjoy the river. There are only 8 lots privately owned and we are the first lot that you come to. There is plenty of room for an RV. Guests can also tent camp or stay in our shack that has a sleeper sofa. There are snacks, a sign in book, an axe, briquets, a fire extinguisher, and other items the shack. There is a picnic table, fire pit, BBQ, and wood stove. There is a porta potty on the property. We value your privacy. We do have cameras on the property that are on when no one is there. Once a Hipcamper arrives at the property, they are turned off. We also keep our travel trailer there to enjoy when we can. We will never be there camping when you are there. In the summer, we sometimes kayak. We put in upriver and get out at the property. If it is booked at that time, we will always check first to see if it is okay for us to get out there. If you continue going past our property, there are some nice rock beaches with pretty views. People fish there and wade in the water in the summer. Castle Rock is a cute little town with some nice shops, restaurants and bars. I recommend checking it out! We are not picky about check in/check out time. It would only matter if someone else was checking in the day you are checking out. Please ask if you expect to arrive earlier or want to check out later. If your plans change, please cancel through Hipcamp to get a refund.

Please Note: Property ownership has transferred, but the same friendly host is managing your campsite. Please read the description in its entirety. A family favorite! This campsite is on the Coweeman River, 16 miles east of Interstate 5, on Rose Valley Rd, Kelso, WA. A pool deep/large enough for swimming makes it a wonderful summer retreat. Caution: wet rocks are as slick as ice! There is only one site on this property so your party will have it to yourselves. A fire pit, with on site firewood available for purchase, provides warmth after your dip in the cool water. A picnic table is under a 13' X 13' pop up awning. The driveway terminates in a cul de sac; an area large enough for any vehicle to turn around. A small trailer (less than 20') is fine if you're talented getting it turned around or can unhitch and turned around by hand. You'd need a 4 wheel drive to get it out of the steepish driveway. There is a large flat area for parking/tents plus a couple remote, dirt sites for tents. Non digging, well mannered dogs are allowed (2 maximum) provided their responsible owners clean up after them. A new nifty outhouse has a great view! Rose Valley Road follows the Coweeman River, has little traffic, and may serve as a nice hike/bike up or down stream. Please Note: Property ownership has transferred, but the same friendly host is managing your campsite. Please read the description in its entirety. There is only one campsite on this property, insuring privacy and solitude during your stay. The setting is most private, the river lovely. This setting is wonderful for a quiet family getaway in the woods; it is not 'party' appropriate. The Coweeman River runs clean and pristine. Though only 3' to 4' deep, it provides a refreshing dip on a warm summer's day. It can be used for washing and bathing and could be filtered/treated to make it potable. A locked cabin has a large covered porch overlooking the River that is available for campers, complete with chairs and picnic table. Well mannered, non-digging dogs are welcome (maximum 2) as long as their responsible owners clean up after them. The camp has a pit toilet and we are asking guests to extend its life by only putting poop and pee in it. Please burn your TP or take it out with your trash. There is a fire ring and a tub of firewood available (and refillable) on site for $10. Payment for the woodcutter is through Venmo when you return to the electronic world. If you bring your own wood keep maximum length to 20" to keep fire/ash within ring. There is a covered picnic table (10' X 10' pop up) and chairs at the fire ring. Trash can provided. Please remove your trash. Don't forget to bring drinking water, toilet paper (none is provided), fire starter (though our firewood is seasoned, dry and easy to ignite), headlamp, roasting sticks for them s'mores, water shoes and tromping shoes. The closest store for supplies is 11 miles (20ish minutes) down Rose Valley Road, a small country market with basics, and fuel. There driveway is steep but fine for 2 wheel drive vehicles. Batwater Station is located halfway between Portland and the Oregon Coast on the Columbia River. A private refuge where river otter, beaver, mink, muskrat, seals, raccoons along with threatened Columbia river white tailed deer can be seen. Property has 1,000 feet of boat docks, river deck, and pier. At the pier is a full kitchen, heated bathroom and shower room. Included are 2 outhouses, a fire pit for summer months, a viewing station overlooking the wetlands along with brick charcoal fired barbecue and another propane barbecue. We are committed to your privacy so guests are limited and spread out. High speed internet through out the property. Batwater worked with several agencies when we breeched a levee and flooded 26 acres for salmon and wildlife habitat. Hike along the wetlands and see beaver dams and dens. Batwater is also home for many types of birds including eagles, osprey, tree swallow, purple martins, barn swallows, wood ducks, common and hooded mergansers, mallards, scoots, scaups, grebes, cormorants, great egrets, blue herons, geese and many types of song birds . In the spring and summer see our returning osprey who have. nested on our dock since 2013. There are now 2 osprey platform since a pair of Canada geese choose that as their nesting site as well. Some bald eagles winter here but we have our resident bald eagles Hep and Hope. They arrived in 2003 to start their nest on Crims Island. They still nest there although there old nest tree collapsed in 2020. Many birds migrate here for the winter. Common mammals are river otter, mink, muskrat, raccoons, nutria, coyotes, black tailed and threatened Colombia White Tailed deer. We also are home to native turtles and frogs. Batwater is a working farm with cattle feeding on lush pastures, 2 retired horses and chickens. When eggs are available, we will share some with you. Batwater is a great place to kayak, canoe, paddle board or row during the summer months. We have windy afternoons for windsurfers or sailors. The Columbia River is well known for salmon, and sturgeon. For an extra fee you can moor your larger boat while visiting. There are a volley ball and badminton set ups along with horse shoes during the summer months. We suggest swimming during the summer months when the tide is coming in or slack. You can also walk or drive down to Mayger beach which is popular with locals. There are sandy beaches on Crims island that you can paddle over too. Check out the pictures for more information.

The best camping in Seaquest State Park, WA guide

Overview

About

If brushing up on your volcanism while communing with nature appeals, you'll love Seaquest. It's home to the Mount St. Helens Visitor Center, where you'll find a fascinating collection of info on the history and geology of the volcano.

Stay in one of the five yurts nestled in a wooded area of the park, and it's a short walk to the visitor center. For longer leg stretches, you've got 1 mile of wetland trail and 6 gorgeous miles of woodland trails to hike or bike.

The beautifully forested park affords spectacular wildlife viewing in both wetland and lowland forest habitats. Seaquest occupies over a mile of shoreline on the 10-feet-deep Silver Lake. This shallow body of water was formed when a previous eruption of Mount St. Helens permanently dammed Silver Creek.

Other camping options at the 475-acre, year-round park include 55 tent spaces and 33 utility spaces, most in serene old-growth forest settings. Clean bathrooms, well-kept grounds, and lush scenery get high marks.

Notable campgrounds

  • The park's standard campsites are enveloped in a serene forest setting, offering a classic camping experience.
  • Partial hookup sites provide added convenience for campers seeking a blend of rustic charm and modern amenities.
  • For those seeking full amenities, the T-loop's full hookup sites cater to a more luxurious outdoor stay.
