Located in Victoria Virginia, the farm is an hour to Richmond, 45 minutes to Farmville, and 45 minutes from John Kerr reservoir (on the boarder of NC). We are pet friendly, and the property is completely fenced. Enjoy free unlicensed fishing on property in our small pond, stocked with catfish and bluegills, or let the pups swim away the summer heat. Enjoy a walk on the nearby Tobacco Trail, fish at one of the many nearby rivers and lakes. Roast marshmallows over a fire and stargaze or catch fireflies all night. All sites have access to a portable compost toilet, and we can provide water for the sun showers. We have tent sites, and an RV site, 420friendly but we do not partake. PLEASE NOTE: No Check In After 9PM! The camp sites are only available with direction of host ( new closer parking area and camp area access gate for 2025!!) Exceptions can be made in an emergency stay. THINGS TO DO IN TOWN: Bike or hike the Tobacco Trail and see the railroad park. Local farmers market and livestock sales- down town. The lake at the VFW- good fishing and lovely strolling paths See the falls or fish and hike at Nottaway Falls. NEAR BY ATTRACTIONS: Swim, relax and enjoy the waterfall at Whittle’s Mill- 35 min drive. John Karr Dam and Reservoir- great sandy swimming beaches. Fishing, hiking and picnic areas. Best place ever! 45 minutes south. . Amenities/ Activities: friendly sheep, goats and horses to pet and feed metal detectors to borrow free fishing and poles provided free fire wood- collect your own or from cut piles laundry for a fee in house pots and pans to cook grill for site upon request free fresh eggs Horse rides available for donation which helps offset feed or veterinary needs. This experience may not be available due to weather or other factors, be sure to talk to us prior to your visit to determine availability and requirements. Your off leash pets must be ok with chickens. We do have an overly excited friendly blue Heeler that roams our farm.

Portions of the historic Three Chopt Trail, a Native American trail, run through a large portion of the county. The trail was marked by three hatchet chops in trees to show the way. Go by a local store and buy night crawlers,worms and a pack of 2/0 hooks and you will catch something . Firewood available per request and delivered for$30.00 a load. Accessible by car or canoe, East End at Seven Islands provides endless fun for the whole family, including your well behaved off-leash dogs. When you arrive take a cooling dip in a quiet “river pool”, relax on your private beach, or see if the fish are biting. Let your kids experience the best the river has to offer by exploring the shallows for crayfish, chasing minnows, or watching for Bald Eagles patrolling the river. Your site is approximately 2 acres, so you will have your choice of where to pitch a tent or place your camper or trailer. Spend your nights stargazing, enjoying a campfire (remember to bring s’mores ingredients), or fishing for catfish. This is an ideal family-oriented campsite about an hour NW of Richmond. Come, enjoy and make some memories! Children 10 and under are free On the other side of the river you might hear a train passing by at different times, both, day and night. You MUST take the North Channel or "River Left" to access Campsite 2.  See satellite imagery. Read on-- Approximately 8 miles downriver from Scottsville and 2.5 miles downriver from the Hardware River Wildlife Management Area, this is the Premier campsite for an overnight float trip on the middle James. With some of the best smallmouth bass fishing the James River has to offer, this is perfect stopover for a take out at the New Canton/Bremo Bluff boat landing 4 miles downstream. Enjoy an overnight or a couple of days. The 2 acre campsites are on an elevated sand and gravel bar on the north and south shores of Big Island. There's ample room for multiple tents and boats. Pools and slow moving water to cool off after your float down, and a great place for catfishing and watching satellite fly-bys at night. Plenty of Bald Eagles, Ospreys, and just about all of Virginia's animals inhabit this section of the James.  Enjoy the scenery!  KNOW BEFORE YOU BOOK and GO  1. Check out river levels, forecasts and warnings. There can be class 1 and 2 rapids (and more) depending on river height. Very experienced paddlers only once the river gets above approximately 5.0 feet or so at Scottsville. The host will gladly rebook your stay should the river height not be safe for your group. Check James River height at Scottsville or other reputable data source.  2. You must take the south channel (some call it "River Right") as you approach the Seven Islands chain to access  Campsite 1. Whisper Creek was founded in 1999. It has been the gathering place for many great friends and camping adventures. WC can hardly be camping, more like Glamping! This is a very private and quiet location. You can settle in knowing that this listing includes a covered picnic area. Which has counter space for food prep and cooking that includes a small sink. But remember, it’s camping so you’ll need to come prepared with a camp stove for cooking, although I do have charcoal and propane grill’s at the picnic area. Fire pit for awesome evening camp fires with free split firewood on hand. All I ask is that you burn it like you split and stacked it. You can gather and relax under the covered picnic area for dinner preparation and/or lounging. We are located within an hour from Wintergreen, numerous wineries, craft beer locations and numerous hiking destinations. Harmony Hut has fresh linens but please bring sleeping bags and/or sheets for the screened in bunkhouse. River access to the James River is a short drive to Howardsville. There you will also find a General Store which offers you the basics, such as Beer, Wine, Ice and a few grocery items. They make the best homemade sandwiches and grilled burgers. Direct river access can be provided via special request. I can also provide shuttling services. But this needs to be mentioned well before your stay as I don't live up there year around.

It was built for fishing so it’s not safe to swim due to structures under the water for the fish. We are only 30 minutes from Carter’s Mountain, Monticello and Jefferson Winery’s. Thistle Gate Winery is only 5 minutes away and 20 minutes to Scottsville were you can enjoy the James River. UVA sports complex is only 30 minutes away and you’re able to go the back way in to skip the gridlock of the traffic. In recent years the farm land was sub divided. My husband Jacob and I purchased this piece of property 8 years ago. We absolutely love it here and this land is our own slice of paradise. We have 13 acres of private seclusion with a quiet and peaceful creek spot for camping on the back side of our property. We love having a place where we feel we can be away from it all! Also at the same time we are only a short drive away from downtown Lynchburg as well as quick access to route 460. We enjoy that we can get on the river quickly and we frequently take advantage of the beauty of kayaking the James River. Together Jacob and I find tranquility while camping and exploring new places. We are excited to share our slice of heaven with you and meet people who share our love for the great outdoors. :)

Follow the drive down to the river front campsites.. This is due to a yearly Festival held in Scottsville where Historic river . Smallmouth and catfish are biting. Go by a local store and buy night crawlers,worms and a pack of 2/0 hooks and you will catch something . Firewood available per request and delivered for$30.00 a load. Accessible by car or canoe, East End at Seven Islands provides endless fun for the whole family, including your well behaved off-leash dogs. When you arrive take a cooling dip in a quiet “river pool”, relax on your private beach, or see if the fish are biting. Let your kids experience the best the river has to offer by exploring the shallows for crayfish, chasing minnows, or watching for Bald Eagles patrolling the river. Your site is approximately 2 acres, so you will have your choice of where to pitch a tent or place your camper or trailer. Spend your nights stargazing, enjoying a campfire (remember to bring s’mores ingredients), or fishing for catfish. This is an ideal family-oriented campsite about an hour NW of Richmond. Come, enjoy and make some memories! Children 10 and under are free On the other side of the river you might hear a train passing by at different times, both, day and night. Safety Notice: Not accessible by boat, canoe, or kayak when the James River level is 6 feet or higher at Scottsville. The Premier Overnight Float Trip Campsite on the Middle James River - Boat in Only---No onsite parking or hiking in. Learn more about this land: Please note this is a boat in only listing--so launch your canoe or kayak upstream to float in and enjoy a stay! You MUST take the south channel (some call it "River Right") as you approach the Seven Islands chain to access  Campsite 1. You MUST take the North Channel or "River Left" to access Campsite 2.  See satellite imagery. Read on-- Approximately 8 miles downriver from Scottsville and 2.5 miles downriver from the Hardware River Wildlife Management Area, this is the Premier campsite for an overnight float trip on the middle James. With some of the best smallmouth bass fishing the James River has to offer, this is perfect stopover for a take out at the New Canton/Bremo Bluff boat landing 4 miles downstream. Enjoy an overnight or a couple of days. The 2 acre campsites are on an elevated sand and gravel bar on the north and south shores of Big Island. There's ample room for multiple tents and boats. Pools and slow moving water to cool off after your float down, and a great place for catfishing and watching satellite fly-bys at night. Plenty of Bald Eagles, Ospreys, and just about all of Virginia's animals inhabit this section of the James.  Enjoy the scenery!  KNOW BEFORE YOU BOOK and GO  1. Check out river levels, forecasts and warnings. There can be class 1 and 2 rapids (and more) depending on river height. Very experienced paddlers only once the river gets above approximately 5.0 feet or so at Scottsville. The host will gladly rebook your stay should the river height not be safe for your group. Whisper Creek was founded in 1999. It has been the gathering place for many great friends and camping adventures. WC can hardly be camping, more like Glamping! This is a very private and quiet location. You can settle in knowing that this listing includes a covered picnic area. Which has counter space for food prep and cooking that includes a small sink. But remember, it’s camping so you’ll need to come prepared with a camp stove for cooking, although I do have charcoal and propane grill’s at the picnic area. Fire pit for awesome evening camp fires with free split firewood on hand. All I ask is that you burn it like you split and stacked it. You can gather and relax under the covered picnic area for dinner preparation and/or lounging. We are located within an hour from Wintergreen, numerous wineries, craft beer locations and numerous hiking destinations. Harmony Hut has fresh linens but please bring sleeping bags and/or sheets for the screened in bunkhouse. River access to the James River is a short drive to Howardsville. There you will also find a General Store which offers you the basics, such as Beer, Wine, Ice and a few grocery items. They make the best homemade sandwiches and grilled burgers. Direct river access can be provided via special request. I can also provide shuttling services. But this needs to be mentioned well before your stay as I don't live up there year around.

My partner took me camping for my birthday and he chose the site. The view was spectacular and the hosts were very friendly! There is a really cool train that passes on the other side of the water, and it is so cool to watch. We got a bundle of wood, and it lasted us all weekend. I was on site 2, and the only suggestion I might make is to perhaps make stairs going down to the water level area. I'll be back for sure!

Lacie and her family were extremely friendly, helpful, and welcoming. The tent campsites felt super private, the land is beautiful. They provided us with treats to feed the horses, they keep fishing and cooking equipment in their barn for you to use. They even hooked us up with some cooking oil when we forgot ours. Only minutes from town but you feel like you're worlds away out there. They sent us off with a fresh dozen eggs and smiles. We had an amazing time and will absolutely be back.

This beautiful piece of the Shire was so peaceful and gave my partner and i a wonderful getaway. We loved the little touches (hobbit garb, Middle Earth tarot cards, Tolkien-inspired pottery, flickering lanterns, etc!) and the beautiful craftsmanship of the whole home. We stayed during a cloudy period so relied on the generator for heat, which worked completely fine and the owner sent helpful instructions for using it ahead of time. Highly recommend this spot, it’s really sweet and magical!

We love camping at Moon & Julie's. This must be our 6th time. The solitude and on site hiking trails are perfect for us. Plus, it's not too far a jaunt to see the local historical areas, scenery, and nearby apple markets etc. You'll have acres to your self. We stay in Persimmon Patch #1 in the open grass area. It gives our dogs space to play and sun on our solar panels to keep things charge. We highly recommend staying at Moon and Julie's Hawthorne Hollar.

My friend and I stayed at the "Hillside lakefront near Beach" campsite. I liked the site because it was very private. The site sits behind the goat and chicken farm, so be preppared for them to roam around your site. They generally didn't bother us, however the roosters did wake us up at the crack of dawn, as they're known for. The site was spacious, had a table and fire pit, beautiful lake views, and was a short walk from the kayaks. The site was a 30 minute drive from Pleasant Grove Park, which had miles of easy, scenic hiking trails. Charles and Steven were very responsive and explained to us where our site was, where to find additional firewood, the kayaks, the porta-potty, dumpster, and the general layout of the property.

Welcome to RRF! We are a small ranchette that specializes in sheep, horses, and chickens. Located in Victoria Virginia, the farm is an hour to Richmond, 45 minutes to Farmville, and 45 minutes from John Kerr reservoir (on the boarder of NC). We are pet friendly, and the property is completely fenced. Enjoy free unlicensed fishing on property in our small pond, stocked with catfish and bluegills, or let the pups swim away the summer heat. Enjoy a walk on the nearby Tobacco Trail, fish at one of the many nearby rivers and lakes. Roast marshmallows over a fire and stargaze or catch fireflies all night. All sites have access to a portable compost toilet, and we can provide water for the sun showers. We have tent sites, and an RV site, 420friendly but we do not partake. PLEASE NOTE: No Check In After 9PM! The camp sites are only available with direction of host ( new closer parking area and camp area access gate for 2025!!) Exceptions can be made in an emergency stay. THINGS TO DO IN TOWN: Bike or hike the Tobacco Trail and see the railroad park. Local farmers market and livestock sales- down town. The lake at the VFW- good fishing and lovely strolling paths See the falls or fish and hike at Nottaway Falls. NEAR BY ATTRACTIONS: Swim, relax and enjoy the waterfall at Whittle’s Mill- 35 min drive. John Karr Dam and Reservoir- great sandy swimming beaches. Fishing, hiking and picnic areas. Best place ever! 45 minutes south. . Amenities/ Activities: friendly sheep, goats and horses to pet and feed metal detectors to borrow free fishing and poles provided free fire wood- collect your own or from cut piles laundry for a fee in house pots and pans to cook grill for site upon request free fresh eggs Horse rides available for donation which helps offset feed or veterinary needs. This experience may not be available due to weather or other factors, be sure to talk to us prior to your visit to determine availability and requirements. Your off leash pets must be ok with chickens. We do have an overly excited friendly blue Heeler that roams our farm.
