Learn more about this land: 104 acres of private land for your enjoyment. This site would be best suited for tent campers at the moment due to no bath houses or electricity for the time being. Come enjoy your stay bring a kayak or canoe and float around the 6 acres of ponds and catch some of the many bass, bream or crappie that occupy the waters. The property is located 7 miles off highway 74/76 in Whiteville and 10 miles to Lake Waccamaw, 32 miles to Ocean Isle Beach, 45 miles to Wilmington, 36 miles to North Myrtle Beach. The road is gravel all the way to the camping area with signs for directions. When there’s no burn ban in place or lack of rain i do try to keep firewood on-site but I recommend checking with me before your stay. Some friends couldn't understand when we moved to southeast NC without any PLAN for our future. We are just happy to be alive each and every day that we are here. We made "someday" into "today" and we are happy to share the experience with you Learn more about this land: We are located in southeast NC, approximately 15-20 miles from area beaches. Our location is very "country" with lots of wildlife (deer, fox, rabbits, birds, etc...) roaming about. It is very quiet in the evenings and overnight. The campsite has a large paver stone patio and picnic table. We have a fire pit and when able we would be happy to host a night around the fire. We are pet friendly but request that dogs be on a leash or tie-out. We expect guests to pickup pet "litter". Campers are encouraged to use the swing and chairs set back under the pines. Also campers will find a guest book in the little library under the pine tree with a concrete bench nearby (you drive around in as you pull into the campsite). We are very close to two public boat ramps suitable for larger boats and jet skis. Holly Shelter boat ramp is literally 2 minutes away, Shelter Creek boat ramp is 10 minutes away. Both ramps have a fishing area and allow kayaks/paddle boards. Fishing is good on our ponds and the river year round, (bass, catfish, crappie, bowfin, gar, etc) in June hundreds of wild blueberry plants you can pick and eat. We also have prickly pear cacti for harvesting which you can cook the fruit and paddles over the fire and enjoy. If our trails aren’t enough and you want more adventure, just two miles away is the Holly Shelter game lands entrance where you’ll find thousands of acres for hunting, biking, hiking or horseback riding. And if you’re craving a beach day, Wrightsville beach is just a 30 minute drive away as well as is downtown Wilmington where you can enjoy walking the riverfront for shopping or dining. Stargazing galore! Surrounding the property is privately owned country land- this is a phenomenal place to be amazed by the stars. Photography lovers will be in heaven from the sunrises and sunsets golden hour is magical here! And with the diverse landscape there’s always something to capture. Tent camping or dry rv camping only at this time. Hot Shower, sink and full size toilet are provided in the bath house. I have a side hobby making homemade jams, pickles and flavored goat cheese spreads. We love the peacefulness of where we live...although the weather chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys, guinea fowl, peacocks, goats and horses do get a little loud come feeding time. We have different sites, please read each description or message me before you book a stay. All the sites have an 8pm latest check in unless you've stayed with us before. With the cold snap we have been experiencing the RV water source will freeze up over night. Please message me before booking the RV. We are constantly looking for ways to upgrade or make our farm more fun to visit.

Our little private campground is a hidden jewel in the making. Each campsite is private. We are not a parking lot like so many campgrounds are these days. We are still currently working on infrastructure but are willing to host campers that are self sufficient at a reduced rate for now. We do have a fun play ground, hiking trails, a steam we lovingly named Alligator Gore (to keep the little ones out of the mud). We are pet friendly. Each site has a fire ring or fire pit. We have a full bathroom available. We have a small camp store. We have group camp sites, pull through RV / Camper sites and a few glamping cabins. Located only 40 minutes from the NC coast and much more affordable and less crowded. We are still growing so we do not have a pool yet but will have one in the future. We do have a kids and youth program with weekly crafts and other activities. Picnic tables are available on some sites. Almost across the street is a wonderful boat ramp and fishing spot on the Cape Fear River. Canoe down to a sand bank about a mile down river and have a romantic picnic. A Celtic themed restaurant, the Mad Boar, is just a 10 minute drive if you are looking for a unique farm to table experience. And Duplin Winery is just 15 minutes away with tastings and tours. Located just 10 minutes from I-40 off US 41 we are easily found. A diamond in the rough.

We carved our 43 acre horse farm out of wild swampy land in 2007 and finished the barndeminium in 2008. We started with Hipcamp 6 years ago and enjoy meeting new people. My husband is retired from the Air Force and works full time doing the chores. I retired May 2024 from being a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner at Womack Army Medical Center. I have a side hobby making homemade jams, pickles and flavored goat cheese spreads. We love the peacefulness of where we live...although the weather chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys, guinea fowl, peacocks, goats and horses do get a little loud come feeding time. We have different sites, please read each description or message me before you book a stay. All the sites have an 8pm latest check in unless you've stayed with us before. With the cold snap we have been experiencing the RV water source will freeze up over night. Please message me before booking the RV. We are constantly looking for ways to upgrade or make our farm more fun to visit.

We loved Black River Camping Ventures, it’s a most beautiful and serene landscape. Right on the river the views are magical. Walking up to the point and watching the sunset was a breathtaking moment. They have a lovely beach area to launch kayaks and some wonderful swamp and cypress areas to explore. Catfish in the river make fishing a fun time! The camping areas are large and each feature a fire ring with swing over cooking grate, trash can and picnic table. There are a couple of portable-John’s for use which are kept spotless. They even supply tissue, wipes and sanitizer! Mrs Lisa and Mr Eric were absolutely wonderful hosts, and made sure we had everything we needed for a fabulous time. We recommend very highly this camping site for fun family adventures.

Love this site. Secluded enough to be private. Host was fantastic. We had a great time here. Can't wait to come back in the winter. Definitely would recommend. Just be weary if you are using hammocks. Can be slightly difficult to set up a couple hammocks that would not be in the direct woods. We set ours up perfectly fine by the river but space is slightly limited on hammocks. This site has a lot of space for a tent or camper.

Excellent stay! Beautiful space, very peaceful, short drive to Wilmington. Lots of fun little trails to walk our dog, who had the BEST time. Beautiful goats. Host keeps to themselves while still being very welcoming and warm. The compostable toilet area is as described. The free fire wood is great but I'm very glad they accept donations, the wood kept us warm and entertained with fires for our entire stay so we were happy to give a little back. Would definitely stay again.

Learn more about this land: 104 acres of private land for your enjoyment. This site would be best suited for tent campers at the moment due to no bath houses or electricity for the time being. Come enjoy your stay bring a kayak or canoe and float around the 6 acres of ponds and catch some of the many bass, bream or crappie that occupy the waters. The property is located 7 miles off highway 74/76 in Whiteville and 10 miles to Lake Waccamaw, 32 miles to Ocean Isle Beach, 45 miles to Wilmington, 36 miles to North Myrtle Beach. The road is gravel all the way to the camping area with signs for directions. When there’s no burn ban in place or lack of rain i do try to keep firewood on-site but I recommend checking with me before your stay. Reserve your spot and experience the peace and quiet of the outdoors and listen to the turkeys and watch the deer feed in early mornings while the sun rises. There is also solar, powered lights, usb charging stations, fans, and air coolers. each Conestego hut has a locking front door to keep your belongings safe Campfires, hiking, canoeing and kayaking. Many years ago we learned that we cannot wait to "live our lives" when we reach "retirement" so we enjoy each day to the fullest. Some friends couldn't understand when we moved to southeast NC without any PLAN for our future. We are just happy to be alive each and every day that we are here. We made "someday" into "today" and we are happy to share the experience with you Learn more about this land: We are located in southeast NC, approximately 15-20 miles from area beaches. Our location is very "country" with lots of wildlife (deer, fox, rabbits, birds, etc...) roaming about. It is very quiet in the evenings and overnight. The campsite has a large paver stone patio and picnic table. We have a fire pit and when able we would be happy to host a night around the fire. We are pet friendly but request that dogs be on a leash or tie-out. We expect guests to pickup pet "litter". Campers are encouraged to use the swing and chairs set back under the pines. Also campers will find a guest book in the little library under the pine tree with a concrete bench nearby (you drive around in as you pull into the campsite). Both ramps have a fishing area and allow kayaks/paddle boards. Fishing is good on our ponds and the river year round, (bass, catfish, crappie, bowfin, gar, etc) in June hundreds of wild blueberry plants you can pick and eat. We also have prickly pear cacti for harvesting which you can cook the fruit and paddles over the fire and enjoy. If our trails aren’t enough and you want more adventure, just two miles away is the Holly Shelter game lands entrance where you’ll find thousands of acres for hunting, biking, hiking or horseback riding. And if you’re craving a beach day, Wrightsville beach is just a 30 minute drive away as well as is downtown Wilmington where you can enjoy walking the riverfront for shopping or dining. Stargazing galore! Surrounding the property is privately owned country land- this is a phenomenal place to be amazed by the stars. Photography lovers will be in heaven from the sunrises and sunsets golden hour is magical here! And with the diverse landscape there’s always something to capture. Singletary Lake State Park is part of the unique Carolina Bay system. We aren’t talking about those big body of water bays a lot of cities are built around; these bays are more like swamps or shallow lakes and contain a very unique collection of plants and animals.

If you’re an individual, you might want to check out one of the other state parks in the area, because Singletary is mainly developed for groups and group camping. We’d recommend nearby Lake Waccamaw State Park, which is one of the biggest and baddest Carolina Bays in the whole southeast. But if you are with a group, then Singletary is the place to be. You can all ogle the beautiful scenery together and camp in one of the best group campsites around. Then on day two, you can do it all over again.

When to go

The ideal time to visit Singletary Lake State Park is during the spring and fall when the weather is mild and the natural beauty is at its peak. Summer brings warmth perfect for water activities, though be prepared for the occasional shower. Winters are cooler and less crowded, offering a peaceful escape. Avoid hurricane season from June to November to ensure your plans remain undisturbed.
