Peace and quiet
I loved how quiet the site was . The only noise was cows mooing and coyotes howling. There was some construction noise one afternoon but it didn’t bother me. I also loved walking up the hill through the prairie to the garden and the chickens, the view from up there is fabulous! I booked a walking tour and an archery lesson. There are many medicinal plants growing on the prairie. Marla is being taught what they are and what they are used for. I’m sure this particular tour will only get better as she and her staff acquire more knowledge. I loved my archery lesson! Charlie helped reacquaint me with my bow that I hadn’t used in years. He also let me shoot a traditional native long bow that is made in the old ways, all the while telling me interesting stories and encouraging me. There is an interesting selection of books available if an afternoon of reading is what you crave. Sleeping in the tipi with a buffalo hide as a blanket was actually very comfortable!
A truly unique experience
We enjoyed learning about Lakota culture and staying in such a quiet, remote area that we would not have had access to otherwise. Stargazing from the hill above the camp was wonderful, the dogs who adopted us were very sweet, and our hostess Lauren was very informative and welcoming. We had a great time!
💛 that authentic lakota tipi trip!
It was a wonderful authentic experience. We slept on buffalo hides with the tipi top opened to the night sky. Very hot weather so using their dining hall and commercial kitchen for eating, cooking and cooling off was super. Friendly dogs & cats to keep you company. Marla & her staff & family gave us grreat tips on where to eat & swim to keep cool. Missouri River only 45 minutes away. Beautiful remote location.
This place is absolutely amazing! Totally blew our expectations away. The hosts were wonderful and gave us privacy. The cots and sleeping bag given was so wonderfully comfortable. The kitchen and bathhouse is fabulous totally blew our expectations away! The kitchen was a fully equipped industrial style kitchen. Bathhouse was sparkling clean and comfortable, way better than what we have seen here on most hipcamp listings and camping sites. The two dogs roaming free on the property were great. The location was tricky to find make sure you follow the directions on here not on your GPS.
