Best place to stay! hands down!!
Amazing!! There are so many wonderful things I could say but there is not enough space! The hosts Shannon and Heath are beyond accommodating! The grounds are beautiful, they have everything you could possibly want! The animals are majestic, spending time watching the Llamas and horses was a wonderful experience! This is a place that we will visit again and again! Watching deer right out our window every morning was something I wouldn’t trade for the world! Definitely the place to stay if you are in South Dakota! Thank you so much for an experience we will always treasure!!
Don't miss this place!
Heath and Shannon most hospitable and accommodating hosts, ever! It's obvious that they love what they do and want to be sure you love your time there, as well. The property is expansive and the facilities and the kitchen were spotless and sparkling and offered everything you could possibly want. A highlight of our trip, BESIDES meeting the horses, goats, sheep, llamas, alpacas, turkeys, chickens and bunnies. was the off-road ATV trip to the Black Hills National Forest at sunset. This place is not to be missed!
Heath and Shannon met us upon arriving and showed us to our spot. We were unable to level our 18' toy hauler ( My Issue) I asked Heath about possible options and since we were self contained, and the other camp sites where full, he was quick to offer his field West of the Common house. We ended up in a great spot all by ourselves. Heath and Shannon are fantastic host, with great pride in there property. The Facilities are immaculate and the location is great. If you want the country/Farm feel with wild Turkeys, Deer, Free roaming Chickens, horses and Sheep, you won't be disappointed .
Heath and his wife’s farm/campground was just amazing. Heath always had a huge smile on his face and has such a warm and welcoming presence! We could tell they love what they do and they love helping make their guests have the best camping experience. The common area and the shower rooms were probably our favorite part. I don’t think we were even expecting it to be such a huge and convenient part of our camping trip. It was a great way to meet the other campers, warm up, grab some coffee, take a nice warm shower, etc. They put a lot of work into these areas, which are extremely clean and cozy as well.
This was our daughters first time camping (she’s only 8.5 months) and she had such a great time. She especially loved the llamas and horses! We will definitely be back and will recommend their campground to our friends and family :)
So. Much. Fun! I can’t even describe how amazing this place is. Truly a hidden gem. We have camped all over the US and this has been one of our favorites. You can’t find a more peaceful and serene place to pitch a tent, watch the stars and relax. Like animals? Even better! Such a great time and amazing hosts!
A must stay when in the hills
Best camping experience we have had! From booking the stay, greeting and getting the layout of property, nothing could have been easier! The property is beautiful! The amenities, common space, and farm critters are a wonderful bonus. Lastly, we can not speak highly enough of Heath and Shannon. They are exceptional hosts and go well out of their way to make your stay meet and exceed your expectations. We are on our last leg of our journey home and have had to talk ourselves out of turning around and heading back to the hills!
Flexible hosts, great accommodation
We had the opportunity to stay in both a Glamping Unit and a Tent/RV Site during our trip (We booked a tent site for the whole week, but arrived the first night to a storm - so we upgraded to a Glamping Unit in lieu of setting our tent up in the cold dark rain). The Tent/RV sites were well-maintained and all walking distance to the community house. There are hammocks dotting the property to enjoy and all kinds of animals to meet.
The community house has very nice bathrooms and showers and a full kitchen/dining/living area with utensils, cookware, and a tv.
The Glamping units have very nice sleep number beds, Amazon Alexas, and TVs as well. They are located directly adjacent to the community house so that's convenient for guests.
We had the property mostly to ourselves for the week so we felt just the right amount of secluded, yet safe!
100% would stay here again!
AMAZING! We loved our stay here, it was short as we were just headed through the area but they are outstanding hosts. Everyone on the ranch is beyond friendly, and welcoming. They made our stay that much better with providing the items you “may have forgotten” in the bathrooms, and waking up to the animals is a lovely touch!
Black Hills was an amazing piece of property to base our trip to the Custer, SD area. Solitude mixed with an authentic working farm, and all the amenities of a 5 star hotel. Heath and Shannon treated us like family from the beginning-definite highlights included farm fresh chicken and turkey eggs and helping to milk the goat!
This is a perfect place to stay if your travels take you to western South Dakota!
