Voted the Best Hip Camp to visit in South Dakota in 2021... Quiet 11 acre Produce/hobby farm 8 miles south of Interstate 90 and 23 miles west of Sioux Falls.  A large garden and several pets including Dogs, Cats, Chickens, Turkeys, Peacocks, and Guinea's. Out back is a small pond frequented by a variety of birds and animals, ducks, geese, hawks, woodpeckers, owls, muskrat, and pheasants to name a few.

There are 6 tent or self contained dry camp sites spaced out near the pond. Picnic tables and firepits are at most sites and an adequate amount of firewood is included and additional firewood can be purchased. There is also a storm shelter available should weather warrant.

I mowed a short walking/hiking/biking nature trail around and through the property that winds around the pond and a small old quarried stone rail road bridge. A great place for a short stroll and to check out some of the wildlife that frequent the pond.

I am in the process of finishing up the shower shack. I have both bathrooms are fully functional there are two complete 3/4 bath rooms. next on the list is a screened in "clubhouse and eventually basic outdoor kitchen but for now just the sink.

I have a large garden and usually have produce to share depending on the season, and how well the garden does. past guests have been offered tomato's, peppers, and squash along with farm fresh, free range, eggs all at no charge. I also have the equipment to host a Drive Inn movie and weather permitting and with enough interest from guests plan to start doing so Memorial Day weekend. Movie will start around dusk (weather permitting) popcorn and other concessions will be available...

I also have 3 RV sites with 30amp Electric and Water Hookups available listed as Uncle B's RV Camp and the barn loft is now listed as a private "glamper" with its own bathroom and kitchen.

Lake Vermillion State Park is 6 miles away with swimming, fishing and paddling options. Thunder Valley Dragstrip in Marion is 10 miles away with weekend drag-racing. I-90 Speedway (dirt track) is about 20 miles and have 3 classes of stock cars on Saturday nights. The Ortman Chiropractic Clinic in Canistota is 6 miles. Sioux Falls and the Sanford Premier Center is about 25 miles. Great Pheasant hunting in every direction with public hunting area's near by.

My stay was AMAZING!!! Brian could not have been more helpful or thoughtful. When I arrived, he made a fire at my site, brought me a kit for s’mores and some fresh eggs for breakfast in the morning. He even helped me set up my tent as it was my first time breaking it out of the package. The land is absolutely gorgeous and so peaceful. There are chickens, peacocks, kittens, and two of the most lovely dogs - Johnny and Franki! I booked this spurt of the moment as I was looking for a place to crash after a long day on the road from Chicago and feel so lucky this is the spot I picked. Cannot recommend it enough!

This was such a wonderful place to arrive at the end of a long, long day of driving! It was very convenient to get to off of I90, and Brian's directions were easy to follow. It is very peaceful at the farm, with amazing views of the stars and great wildlife noises. The highway was audible, but didn't bother us. The outhouse and bathroom were both very clean. All in all, we were thrilled to camp there.

This little oasis far surpassed my expectations. Brian was incredibly accomodating with my late night, same night reservation. The site itself was perfect - nestled among a grouping of cedars just across from a small pond. Despite the site being at capacity, there was still ~100 feet between myself and the nearest campers.

The outhouse was lit, CLEAN, & centrally located on the farm. Yeah, it's a farm...and i was fortunate enough to be the recipient of some of the harvest. Brian gave me fresh peppers, juicy heirloom tomatoes, tomatillos, poblano peppers, and more.

All of the sites were clearly marked, well kept, and tucked away with their own unique character. One was closest to the pond, another with a prime, unobscured view of the rising sun, you get the picture....

Additionally, the farm has a barn with a small loft apartment containing a hot shower and fully functional kitxhen with cookware, seasonings, and everything you'd need to whip together a quick hit meal.

While this was my 1st HipCamp experience, i am a fairly seasoned camper, & i rank Brian's campground as the absolute best pay site i've ever visited.

Next time I'm in SD, I'm definitely staying here. You should, too!

p.s. Say hi to the peacocks for me....YES, there are freaking peacocks. AWESOME!

This was my first time using Hipcamp and I feel like I was spoiled by my first experience. First Brian provided directions from where I was staying in Indiana. When I arrived he greeted me and told me which site I would be staying in. He then provided me with 6 eggs from his chicken's and vegetables to cook for breakfast. He also started the camp fire for me while I was setting up my tent which was awesome! He had a nice kitchenette that I was able to make my breakfast in and a shower that I was able to use to freshen up. I had an amazing stay and would highly recommend it to anyone.

Wow. We were blown away. Brian went above and beyond for us. He started out fire for us when we were setting up our tent! We loved petting the cute, friendly dogs. The highlight of the trip was the food Brian offered us for FREE! We made breakfast omelettes with garden FRESH onions, potatoes, peppers, and the most amazing FRESH eggs. The barn loft was so comfortable and convenient with a shower so close to where we cooked breakfast, we killed two birds with one stone. Also had some amazing fresh donuts host Lisa made, and some delicious honey peach jam!! Met some great campers while we were there too! Put some money in the pantry fund jar because Brian’s Hipcamp is MORE than worth it!

Brian and Lisa are a phenomenal host and hostess! They have so much passion to provide each Hipcamper with the best experience. And that's not hyperbole. We recommend getting the firewood bundle during checkout to stay extra warm. We look forward to much more camping on their beautiful property!!! Thanks!

The proximity to I-90 makes their property yet another reason to stay here. It's easy to find even in the middle of the night.

I’ve stayed at a few hipcamps, driving across the country, and Uncle B’s was hands down the best experience I’ve had. The setting is beautiful, the sites were well-spaced and comfortable, there’s a real bathroom and a hot shower as well as an outhouse, and even farm fresh eggs (we ate two with our dinner; they were amazing). There are dogs, cats, chickens, and guinea fowl near the barn, and we left with a butternut squash from the garden. Brian and Lisa were incredibly welcoming and kind. They were also duly careful about covid concerns, wore masks when talking with us, and provided hand sanitizer and supplies for wiping down any shared spaces—we felt completely safe. It was a great experience and I hope to stay here again.

Highly recommend this hipcamp for people passing by on I-90!!

This was our first experience with Hip Camp and WOW was it great! Brian was an awesome host! He contacted me right after booking to make sure we knew how to get to his location. He also met us once we got there and welcomed us with a s’mores kit. We stayed in the rv site that came with electricity and water. The site was nice and flat and very easily accessible. Our site came with a large fire pit and firewood.

In the morning, Brian let my kids play with his kittens and dogs! He also showed us the peacocks and chickens on his farm. In the barn there is a loft that’s accessible for hip camp guests. This area was so cool!! There’s a full shower, bed, stocked kitchen, and even groceries. He had things like ramen noodles, peanut butter, fresh eggs, fresh veggies and so many more things! As we were leaving Brian took us to his garden to pick tomatos, peppers, butternut squash and spaghetti squash. Our family felt very safe, welcomed, and like part of the family.

Brian and Lisa are gracious and generous, the animals are happy and endearing! The amenities were great-- we used the barn loft kitchen to cook midnight snacks, enjoyed hot showers in the morning, and left with beautiful eggs and seedlings. There's very little light pollution at the farm and the night sky was brilliant. Tree spacing at Site 5 was good for hammocks. Pete the peacock played sentry and sage from his courtship post at Site 2. Clean and modern locking bathroom was a real camping luxury for morning rituals. There are a number of projects underway to make the camp even more accommodating, but as far as we're concerned, it's already perfect.
