Come and enjoy the solitude and serenity of this spot on the Saluda, surrounded by thousands of acres of forests and farms. Camp on the river, in the field or overlook the river from the high bluff in the old growth forest. There is an 8 acre pasture open for camping anywhere as well as 37 acres of woods and river bank to enjoy. The gravel road going down to the river is finished, I drove my Honda Civic down yesterday and no issues (very low clearance). This could be your overnight camp if kayaking down from the Holiday Dam on your way to Ware Shoals. There is a nice pull out point on the 2 acres pasture on the river. Check out the class 2 rapids at the Erwin Mill bridge.

I wanted a Hipcamp spot that put us closer to the Diamond Hill Mine and John’s camp was perfection.
For a simple 1:1 overnight adventure with my 8-year-old son, we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. He loved exploring the land, spotting deer, collecting wood, keeping the fire going, and attempting to fish. My momma heart was full.
Thanks again, John!
Tent camping right next to the river was great! Property owner was very friendly and helpful. Perfect primitive camping site.
John is a wonderful host! He made sure we had good directions and checked in on us when we got there. The land is beautiful and private and well maintained. There are several places you can camp, we stopped at the 1st area on the river. And there is still an even bigger one down the road! The gravel road was easy to drive on drive on, even my friend with a pull behind small camper had no trouble.

City girl from the prairie loved it
John was great! Entrance discreet. Rural mailbox number is important because gps can’t keep up! My Mitsubishi Lancer made it down and back up! Grassy meadow for my tent Yay! Photography is my hobby I had FUN! October in South Carolina is Beautiful!!
We had a wonderful time on the river. John was very helpful in showing us the sites. We will stay again. It was close to home but not far away. Thank you for allowing us to stay.
