Afterward coming back to the farm to enjoy an after dinner bonfire 🪵 and night check in the barn at 9:30. 𝗔𝗿𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹: When you arrive I will meet you at the barn. You can choose your perfect camping⛺️ spot or if you have already reserved your campsite online then I can direct you to it. ⭐️All the farm roads connect. ⭐️ Sites 1-6 have electricity, water, WiFi, cellular (pasture views and Blue warehouse behind. Near goat pen, hen house, hammock chairs and fire pit) ⭐️Site 5 has electricity, water, cellular, cement floor and high roof cover (inside blue warehouse) ⭐️Sites 1 and 2 have electricity, water, WiFi, cellular and toilet access (next to barn pasture views and use of barn table) ⭐️Sites 7-9 have cellular (pasture views and tree line behind) ⭐️Sites 10 and 11 have cellular and water (open field and tree line) ⭐️Site 12 has cellular (under Oak trees and pasture views) ⭐️Sites 13-16 have cellular and water (under Angel Oaks and pasture views) ⭐️Sites 17-20 have cellular (open fields) ⭐️All sites have views of horses ⭐️Only sites 1-6 are near humans ⭐️Please make sure that you walk your field first before you drive onto it because sometimes the fields are muddy and too wet. 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽 𝗦𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗡𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗕𝗮𝗿𝗻: 𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝟭 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝟮 ⭐️Near the barn is water💦 and electricity🔌, the barn bathroom 🚽 and free WiFi 📡. You also have the access to the barn where the horses 🐴 are and you can walk through anytime and give them cookies 🍪 and pet 🤚 them. The goats 🐐 are also in the barn at night. I am also keeping the Christmas tree ğŸŽ„ up in the barn all year. It’s so pretty at night ✨. There is activity during the day ☀️- moving horses ğŸŽ in and out is always fun ğŸŽª to watch 👀. 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽 𝗦𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗕𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗪𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲: 𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝟱 ⭐️You can also choose to camp ⛺️ inside the blue warehouse with a roof and cement floors. Here there is electricity🔌 and water🚰. No access to a bathroom. Good cell signal 📱 and sometimes a decent WiFi 📡signal. 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽 𝗦𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗢𝘂𝘁𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗕𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗪𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲: 𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝟯 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝟰 ⭐️Across from the blue warehouse and next to a horse 🐴 paddock is also an area to set up camp ⛺️ . With electricity🔌 and water🚰. Cell service and WiFi 🛰. As for kids- this large open flat green space across from the blue warehouse has everything kids like- the goats 🐐 next door- horses ğŸŽ outside the front door of your vehicle- the fire 🪵 pit for s’mores 🍫 on the other side - as well as the hammock swing chairs and WiFi📡- The 🐓 hen house is also there to collect fresh eggs 🥚. *Regarding electric 🔌 There is 100 amps at the panel box, in the blue warehouse, with 20 amp breakers coming from that. I use heavy, 10 gauge, extension cords to run to both sites 3 and 4. We have two motor homes using heat at both sites 3 and 4 simultaneously this winter with no problem. I hope it will hold with this coming summer when hipcampers use a/c. 𝗜𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗽 𝗻𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘀: 𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗲s 1- 𝟲 If you decide to camp⛺️ closer to the houses 🏡 and the blue warehouse, I can get you electricity 🔌 there. 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗢𝘄𝗻 𝗘𝗴𝗴𝘀: (𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲) If you enter the hen house🐓 to collect eggs🥚, please don’t disturb the hens🐓 that are hatching eggs🐣, they are the hens🐓 sitting in the little nesting boxes keeping their eggs 🥚 warm. You can collect any egg 🥚 that doesn’t have a sitting hen 🐓on it. Make sure to latch the door afterward🚪. 𝗛𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝗥𝘂𝗹𝗲: As for the horses🐴, we prefer guests stay OUTSIDE of the paddocks...petting 🤚them over the fence. 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆- 𝗕𝗮𝗿𝗻 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸: (𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲) The night ✨ check in the big barn at 9:30 nightly, if you want to come and give the horses🐴 and goats 🐐 cookies🍪. Here is their write-up. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ "AirbNb’s are plentiful in the Charleston area, but where do you go when you’re looking for something unique? Is there a place you retreat to when you need a break from the hustle and bustle of the city life, but within a short drive from home? Is there a place that is so relaxing, you turn off your cell phone, disconnect with the world, and re-connect with the great outdoors? I had the pleasure of spending a weekend at East Gate Farm on the weekend of Halloween. This 100-acre farm is located in Meggett, South Carolina; just 30 minutes outside of Charleston, and offers 5 different sized Airbnb units for rent from a vintage motor-home to a 3 bedroom, 2 bath guest house. Picture this: It’s sunrise, and you’ve just woken up. You pour your coffee, open your back door and look to the pastures that surround your home. You see horses grazing in the distance, so you grab the carrots your host has provided free of charge, and walk to the fence line, where 3 horses are galloping to come greet you. All they ask for in return is a snack of the ultimate delicacy, a carrot. East Gate isn’t just any farm. I received free interaction with 32 horses (some of which are retired Carriage tour guides and Polo horses). I was able to become friends with a group of goats, who probably only liked me for the cookies that I received to feed to them; but I’ll accept that. I was also able to retrieve fresh eggs for breakfast from the chicken coop, which taste superior to what you buy at the grocery store. My cool evenings were spent with a bonfire set up just for me; complete with supplies for smores, and a hammock hanging from the encompassing trees for the ultimate wind-down of my days. East Gate is truly a hidden gem and is an incredible get-away or a stay-cation, whether you plan on bringing your family, friends, or going solo. We arrived in the rain and departed in the rain – but, in between had several glorious sunny days and gorgeous sunsets. Our 5-year old cocker spaniel, Rudi, and the two of us thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this farm. The bed in the master bedroom was super comfortable as was the L- shaped couch. The kitchen had most of what we needed (we brought a salad spinner and peeler with us and bought foil muffin holders). We baked muffins in the oven, grilled lamb chops and burgers on the gas grill, heated up leftovers in the microwave, etc. With the fresh chicken eggs, made deviled eggs and omelets. A real plus was the washer and dryer. A real benefit for the location is that it is in the middle of lots of good places to eat and things to see and do. ⭐️ Piggly Wiggly on 6251 Highway 162 in Hollywood sells prepared hot and cold foods, including fried chicken, baked chicken, collards (theirs is sweet), etc. as well as regional specialities like biscuits, cornbread and breading mixes, as well as local items such as jams, Blenheim ginger ale and beer. ⭐️ Publix at 3642 Savannah Highway in Johns Island has fewer of the local items, but, a nice selection of produce—we got a large tray of asparagus for $4.29 as well as gluten-free seasoned flour to bake chicken breasts. We ventured out all but one day and feel that we just scratched the surface of what to do and see around here. ⭐️Our first day out, we visited the nearby Cay Creek Interpretive center (no dogs allowed) ⭐️and got carryout at Roxbury Mercantile (can recommend the grits and banana pudding; hubbie said the fried seafood was just OK). ⭐️ On Wednesdays and Saturdays in the winter, Cay Creek offers bird walks for a small fee from 8:30-10:30 am. You have to reserve in advance online. ⭐️Another day, we ventured out to visit the town beach in Edisto (off-leash dogs allowed in winter), the park (leashed dogs only), and visited Botany Bay (no dogs allowed) ⭐️and George and Pink’s produce stand (pecan pie, dried black-eyed peas and field peas). ⭐️A subsequent day, we went to see the 400+ year old Angel Oak (no dogs allowed) ⭐️and visited Kiawah beachwalker park (off-leash dogs allowed in winter). White sand and wide beach, with picnic tables in the parking lot, and bathrooms and a place to rinse off your dog! Kiawah beachwalker park was definitely our favorite—we returned another day after ⭐️a self-guided foodie tour that we designed using the Roadtrippers app, Roadfood website, and reviews in the Charleston city paper. ⭐️For the self-guided foodie tour, ⭐️we visited White Point Gardens in Charleston, ⭐️Hannibal’s Kitchen (recommend their baked turkey wing and okra stew), ⭐️Rodney Scott’s BBQ (recommend their smoked chicken and cornbread), ⭐️Bertha’s Kitchen (least favorite of the 3 soul food places, but, is also the least expensive - $5 for a lunch plate), ⭐️and Park Circle Creamery (M&M ice cream, since was the winter had fewer flavors than usual). ⭐️Yesterday, we visited the Charleston city market, ⭐️ got carryout at the Glass Onion, ⭐️and I had a pony ride at the farm on Lollipop with Carlos’ help. ⭐️Due to the pandemic, there are few vendors at the Charleston city market – baskets run $100 and up so expensive. ⭐️ Did pick up some gluten-free biscuit mix and frozen biscuits from Callies Charleston Biscuits. ⭐️Can recommend the trout, mashed potatoes, collard greens, shrimp po-boy, coleslaw, flour-less chocolate cake and peppermint ice cream at the Glass Onion. Wonderful food and can accommodate dietary restrictions (gluten-free, vegetarian). Best food we had during our stay here. ⭐️In the mornings, we would take long walks on the farm with our dog, and in the evenings return to watch beautiful sunsets and enjoy the peace and quiet. Our trailer had a great view of the horses in the paddock, as well as two red headed woodpeckers (so nice to look at while washing dishes!). The farm is also visited by many other birds including blue birds, hawks, merganser ducks etc. Carrots are in the fridge to share with the horses and goats. But, my personal favorite was visiting the donkeys in the front paddocks. They love getting scratched at the top of their heads. If you venture inside to greet or feed the goats, do wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty since they like to climb up on you. With our busy days, we struggled to stay up late enough to experience the 9:30 pm horse/goal bedtime with cookies. We managed it once and it is great fun. The horses and goats get so excited about getting a cookie. Also take advantage of the offer to build a bonfire – Carlos does a great job. Although this Airbnb has only been in operation for a short time, Liz and Carlos are a wonderful host team. We will definitely be back! ⭐️You can see more photos on our Airbnb listings - all the animals. Beautiful place in the hidden part of Charleston. The farm was very relaxing and quiet. It was fun to pet the horses every morning and night when they came to the fence by our camp. Carols the handyman helped us extremely! We had locked our keys one night late, and he came by and helped us get that taken care of! Thanks Carols!

I would love to camp there again with our small camper trailer, but idk if it will be available for campers in the future.

Overall, awesome place close to everything and far enough away where you feel like your off grid.

We had an amazing time! We were looking for a quiet place to celebrate 🥂our anniversary, and Eastgate did not disappoint. Our entire experience was great - hanging out with the goats 🐐and chickens🐓, horseback ridingğŸŽ, strolls 🚶‍♀️around the beautiful property. We went to the incredible barn every night to say good night to the horses and goats and give them some biscuits. 😊 We camped right next to the goats and chickens and loved being able to see them all day long. The sunsets were amazing! Definitely stay here!!!!

This was our first Hipcamp stay and I must say that it will be hard to beat! We were surrounded by natural beauty in every direction. We enjoyed the interacting with horses, donkeys, goats, barn cats, chickens and, of course, Baby. Our Golden, Ruby, made friends with the horses, goats and donkeys and took regular walks to share her carrots with them. Lizabeth, Carlos and the staff were extremely friendly and were always ready to make our trip special. I highly recommend Eastgate Farms.
