2 acres hosted by Mark C.
Guests have said they are surprised by the country location, how safe, secluded and peaceful it is while being close to so much. There's a creek along one side of the property. We see deer most days, see and hear Red Shouldered, Broad Wing, Red Tail hawk, Barred and Barn Owls.
**Generators - whisper quiet and on-board only. Quiet hours 8pm-8am**
Local information - We have an information mailbox that has tons of local flyers, brochures, things to do magazines, state maps and more. You can keep anything that there is more than one of. If there is only one of something please ask I may have another copy. There is a Planet Fitness 1 mile away and I'm told the showers there are clean, have lots of hot water and are very spacious with a changing area in them. Within a few miles there are 7 grocery stores - Aldi, Lidl, Walmart, Target, Food Lion, Publix, World Market; Local restaurants, fast food, Lowe's, Home Depot, Tractor Supply Co (best place I've found to refill Propane), Hobby Lobby and tons of other places to go. Multiple gas stations with diesel. Places to visit are Lake Murray 3.5 miles away with a walking path over the damn, public boat launches ~6 miles away, Saluda Shoals Park, Riverbanks Botanical Garden, Riverbanks Zoo & Garden, Columbia Canal and Riverfront Park, South Carolina State Museum, The Congaree National Park with the Harry Hampton Visitor Center, world's largest fire hydrant...
Pets - Please clean up after your pet. Your welcome to let you pets off leash while here, be aware our property is not fenced. Our Border Collies do great with other dogs and kids, they don't jump or steal food. At first PLEASE DO NOT throw whatever is brought to you. He doesn't know when to stop and gets overheated. Cats that stay inside are ok, sometimes he growls at cats (he's hasn't meet one or learned about them yet). We think he thinks they're squirrels. If you have an in/outside cat we'll have to coordinate outside time since he doesn't know how to behave with cats and I don't want you or your cat getting hurt. I patrol my yard regularly and I have a gray mailbox mounted vertically with flags for guests to mark any of my dog's landmines that I have missed and any other hazards you find. If you have a issue with the chance of coming across a doggie landmine please do not reserve a spot with me.
Misc. Info - There are a half dozen places to dump tanks near by. The 2 that I've been to but never dumped at are Barnyard campground 5 miles away at 201 Oak Dr., Lexington, SC 29073, Love's Travel Stop 10 miles away(it's back-in and will be at the rear of your camper)340 Longs Pond Rd, Lexington, SC 29073. I think they're both $10.
We have room in our trash for one to two kitchen sized trash bags per week. There is a small can next to it for crushed aluminum cans, we give them to the Fire Department. We also have a large recycling can you can use, there's a big sticker on the lid that lists what can and can't go in it. It's ok if you spend nights away while you rig stays here, it's also ok to have a small number of guests come visit you here. Feel free to have packages delivered while you're here or ahead of time so they'll be here when you get here. Currently working on upgrading the picnic pavilion and adding a guest shower.
