There are some hiking paths along the Edisto river when the river is not extremely out of its banks. Lots of black water and wildlife views, bank fishing or canoeing in an aged Cypress Forest. Check us out on Instagram @swampcastlecampground

Your private swim beach!
Might not seem much when you first arrive but the much is to be revealed. Go down the bumpy lumpy road on site and you are in a scrap of old swamp and a few steps further, you have reached wide sandy beaches on the Edisto, I could not resist going back to the camper for my swimsuit. Note, the 30 amp site is right in the road and next to host's house (lots of dogs), we opted for no hookup in the swamp. Quite primitive, quite an adventure.
Jeff is a great guy. He checked in on us daily and made sure we had exactly what we needed. The property is nothing short of amazing. Camping in a cypress swamp surrounded by all kinds of birds and other wildlife. Lots of areas to hike or explore. Bring a kayak to paddle the river!
Best camping trip and host ever!
I’m a born and raised Alaskan and have camped my whole life. I don’t say it lightly that this was one of the best camping trips we have ever had. Most of that is credit to the host. He was incredibly kind and went above and beyond to help us with everything throughout the weekend. I cannot recommend this campsite and host enough! He has a wealth of knowledge and is extremely kind and helpful! Beautiful campsite with ample to do. Gorgeous scenery and endless relaxing views.
