Welcome to Heirloom Hamlet! Just minutes off I-95, in a picturesque wooded setting, our family is handcrafting a unique eco-village near romantic Savannah. Most people go camping and when the trip has come to an end, deep down inside, they don't want to go home. Well, we had a crazy notion... don't. Why not build a life that we don't need a vacation from? Heirloom Hamlet is what we came up with. While you are with us, we hope you love it as much as we do. (Watch us work. Just search "Heirloom Hamlet" on YouTube)
We are still hard at it, the hamlet is a work in progress. In the early months of our design/build phase we created three full-hookup 50a RV camping locations that were necessary for our own temporary living while we worked. Although our small spaces and the grounds are not complete, our full-hookup RV sites are now available for guest's campers (bring-your-own), for an anti-campground experience...a more private camping retreat among some of America's most historic towns. This land is a peaceful five acre property graced by a stunning 300+ year old Live Oak that is centrally located in the region for reasonable access to the entire Lowcountry.
Staying a week or more? Get a freebie! If you intend to book seven nights, consider staying one more. Just enter the code "RVPEACE55" while booking and you'll automatically get a night on us.
[Please note that in order to be accommodating to guests scheduling vacation trips, we have a two night weekend minimum (three nights for some holidays). However, if you would like to book less than the minimum, or are just trying to find a nice place to rest overnight, do not hesitate to drop us a line to see if we can make a special arrangement. We may accommodate your dates on short notice.]
The Lowdown:
This listing is for the booking of one of three adjacent 50a RV spaces.
Sites 1 and 2 are comfortable for any length coach / fifth wheel. These two sites have a continuous sewer connection.
The 3rd site, typically used for 1 to 5 nighters, is essentially the same and has the same full electric and water connections. It only lacks the full time sewer connection. Guests have access to pull-up waste dumping while exiting. Greywater drainage at the site is fine.
For clarity, just review the site's photos and their descriptions to determine which will work best in your case. If it is important to you, drop us a line to determine which are available for your dates.
They are all similarly spacious and versatile sites. Each has room for parking, grilling, picnicing, campfires, cartwheels, jumping jacks, coffee drinking, having a catch with your kids... you get the idea. The plats are not laid out like canned sardines as at typical cramped campgrounds. Your neighbors are well separated. Dogs are most welcome. There is a convenient 2,500 sq ft fenced dog run for off-leash play.
Online Access:
In our experience there is good cell reception at the hamlet. Guest WiFi is present, too. We have had full-time RVrs book for the night only to extend their stay, some over a week longer... the quality WiFi access was such a relief. For those working from the road, quality WiFi is heavenly, yet uncommon while full-time traveling.
*By way of a full disclosure, we would like to state that we aren't and have no intention of being a commercial campground. We are a hands-on diy family, handcrafting an eco-friendly tiny living hamlet. We have worked hard to create a unique design, so for ours guests, we are not simply making space and placing people in the backyard, as it goes. Our layout is broad and accommodating. If you stay with us it would only be possible to have a couple of neighbors, at just right distances, for both peace n' quiet and socializing. If you're hoping for a Six Flags over camping experience, it may be best too book elsewhere. Heirloom Hamlet is a place specifically designed for you to experience convenient calm in nature. We are aiming to be completely transparent, so please, no bad reviews if there was not enough entertainment. For fun and amusement the provision we have is a central headquarters for access to the many Lowcountry destinations that orbit around us. However, our little township most certainly does have very close, super tasty "mom-and-pop" eateries which we'll share with you. We are actively building our tiny homes and hope no one hesitates to wander the land and check things out at their leisure. We're proud of what we are doing here with our own hands and enjoy sharing what we are learning about living small, solar energy, rainwater harvesting, composting...alternative living in general, really.
Arrival:
The land is only a few minutes (about 2 miles) off the I-95 northbound and southbound exits, a convenient destination off the highway. GPS directions can be counted on. The driveway is a horseshoe shape, it goes all the way around, so there is a more eastern and a more western entrance. When we receive your booking we will ask a little bit about your rig and provide clear directions to the entrance that will be best in your case. We greet each guest regardless of time, direct to the staging site, and help you get set up wherever it is appreciated. Don't stress about short notice or late arrival times, we get it and we are adjustable.
Surrounding Area:
Our hamlet is located in a primo location for those looking to create a central hub, a headquarters if you will, for exploring the Lowcountry. Here is what you can expect distance-wise from some of the main draws to our region.
Downtown Savannah - 35 minutes
If you have never been to these early American cities, it is most definitely worth your time to schedule it in. Not burned during the Civil War years, Savannah's architecture survived like few southern towns and a trolley tour shows you some of the oldest structures in the US. A day on and around River Street is a memory waiting to be made.
Old Town Charleston - 80 minutes
Larger, but equally historic, Charleston sets itself apart with a vibrant arts scene. We feel like it may be one of the more "park and walk" towns we've every visited. Go for a stroll along the waterfront at The Battery at Whitepoint Garden and check out the iconic pastel-hued Georgian rowhouse architecture of Rainbow Row. Visit The Charleston Market for a snack and a handcrafted souvenir. There's lots to do in beautiful Charleston. Even the drive there is pleasant.
Hunting Island - 70 minutes
Visit the Hunting Island Lighthouse and hunt for shark teeth in the sand as you walk barefoot along the white sand coast. If you want to feel like you spent a little few hours in Jarassic Park...visit Hunting Island.
Here are a few more destinations:
Hilton Head Island - 40 minutes ... Dog friendly beaches and they say it's the golf capital of the universe, if that's your thing
Bluffton - 35 minutes ... cute little town worth a look-see
Beaufort - 40 minutes ... like most of these towns, a nice drive through Live Oaks and Spanish Moss with lots of great dining options
About Heirloom Hamlet:
Ani, Fitch and I are regular folks living out our dream. Two years ago we left our South Florida home and custom furniture business to pursue a new goal. We wanted to do something interesting with our lives and to train our boy to do the same, in a balance approach to simple living while respecting nature.
What we are building here is intended to be an experience in environmentally friendly living that balances modern design and an old-world homestead. You will see the erecting of tiny homes and micro-cabins. Installations of solar arrays and water harvesting. Dry toilets and composting. But we do believe in balance, so we have incorporated both alternative and municipality utilities wherever they are required. Here, a person can see and feel if "off-grid" living could be for them.
Through mindful design, our goal is to show just how "normal" bio-compatible, small living can feel. How freeing it can be to identify real wants and needs from perceived ones, and then make our personal ideals a reality. We hope to accomplish this. We certainly are working hard to do so.
To be completely transparent, though, we also hope to inspire others to do the same in their own case. To see the benefits of identifying unnecessary static and shutting it off. To recognize what they really want in their life, and to have the courage to go and get it.
At the very least we hope our guests don't expect to find a corporate approach to living or nature here, and that they can appreciate some of our old-fashioned ways, all while having a relaxing getaway in our unique hideaway.

We had a really wonderful stay at Curt and Annie’s sweet property. We enjoyed getting to know them and seeing all the cool things they have built. Our kids had a blast running around the property, it is a great spot for families. Close drive to Savannah, Hilton Head or Beaufort. Really appreciated the full hook ups and internet. We definitely hope to be back! Thanks for being amazing hosts and creating this special place!!
Easy access, quiet and very clean. Wi-Fi was great. Perfect base to explore area- Beaufort, Hunting Island, Hilton Head. Great communication from Curt.
Site is surrounded by beautiful woods, Peaceful, with a magnificent old oak tree in the heart of the campground. Very pet friendly. The host Kurt and family were warm and welcoming we enjoyed visiting nightly around a unique wonderfully crafted pinecone shaped fire pit. Differently will return, look forward to seeing what Kurt builds next.

Delightful hosts. We enjoyed our short stay. Even the nearby train whistle was endearing.
We loved everything about our stay here! This was by far our favorite place! We unfortunately were only passing through and stayed one night but we plan on coming back and staying longer. Everything was so beautiful and well planned out. Thank you!!
The family was very nice and the property was pretty cool! Our dogs really had a great time with their dogs!
