To our past , present and future customers. Our sincere apologies but we are temporarily closing due to the Barossa Council asking us to apply for a development application in order to keep offering our service. As our guest know, and as per our 100% feedback, we have loved welcoming people to the Barossa region. We have aimed to provide an outstanding service at a budget cost. We thank you for supporting our local businesses - especially wineries, pubs, clubs and cafes in these difficult last few years. As you also know, we offer bush camping and have literally no impact on the natural environment. Any money generated has been reinvested in our efforts to revegetate and improve the land that you have enjoyed. We find it massively disappointing and sad that what has been a wonderful experience for all has been closed down despite us doing nothing wrong other than try to support and promote our region and offer genuine care and hospitality to those visiting the region. We obviously want to do the right thing and we wish to continue offering our land as an affordable, safe and beautiful escape for travellers. Please bear with us as we see what we need to do to once again reopen. Thanks for your understanding.
Located at one of the highest points in the Barossa ranges - welcome to Cooranggoorah. This is a 40-acre property that has over 20 camping sites to choose from however we strictly never have more than 2 bookings at a time so you're assured absolute privacy and solitude (see our feedback). One vehicle per site please.
Sites range from large open spaces through to more intimate sites nestled amongst trees and towering rock faces, catering for swags, tents, campers, caravan and RV's. Some sites are close to the toilet and main homestead, but others more secluded. Most are accessible with conventional vehicles but some are 4WD only (especially in winter). Many sites are mowed all year round but if you want to be adventurous, feel free to choose your own site.
This is a special place with an abundance of scenery and wildlife - koalas, kangaroos, echidnas, kookaburras, many rare native birds and even the odd deer sometimes call it home.
Cooranggoorah is located 10 minutes from major Barossa towns (Tanunda and Angaston). It is a short 2-minute drive to Flaxman Winery which in my opinion sells some of the best Barossa Shiraz. Of course, just down the road you also have great pubs, restaurants, wineries and cellar doors. Being only an hour from Adelaide, some people choose to stay for extended periods and go home to water their vegies, lawn or feed the dog!
A toilet is available for campers. We suggest you bring your own wood for fires.
There are 360-degree views that span long distances - on clear nights you can easily see the beaches of the Yorke Peninsula. Sunsets at are nothing short of spectacular.
Walk to the rear of the property and you join the Heysen trail and enter the Kaiser Stuhl / Mt Crawford Native Forest and Kaiser Stuhl Conservation Park.
On the Heysen trail, you can walk the forest and see a remote cabin (Rossiters Hut) often used by bushwalkers as an overnight rest place. By staying here you have access to over a 1000 acres of playground and chances are you won't see anyone else! Whether it be bushwalking, bird watching, mountain bike riding, horse riding or just sitting by a fire an escaping from noise - Cooranggoorah is a very peaceful and secluded place!
We accept guests with horses/mountain bikes who wish to stay on the property and have a home base, while taking advantage of riding just through the back fence and straight into the beautiful native forest reserve.
All campsites have a designated fire area and a cooking grill.
We aim to provide the best experience we can and so if we can assist in any way we are just a short call away.

Absolutely beautiful spot with your pick of areas to camp. Steven was incredible welcoming and helpful with information prior to arriving & on arrival.
I felt extremely lucky to stay on his beautiful property and watch the changing skies.
Lovely drives and walks nearby, i would definitely return.
I should have picked one of the lower spots though with my tent; the wind gusts through the night were pretty strong because you’re located right at the top of the hill!
As previous reviewers have noted, great host, great property, great granite views.
Very nice quiet place to camp. Close to many wineries. Good to be able to have the dog with us. Host is very welcoming and checks to make sure everything is OK
We really enjoyed the peace and tranquility at this place. The sunsets were stunning. A really relaxing stay and Steve was very welcoming and helpful.

If you are after that easy reach getaway, then Spectacular Barossa Valley Ranges is the place, a great location, quiet with an abundance of wildlife everywhere you turn. The host Steven is a great bloke who is happy to see you and has a great welcome for you, a definite place to return to over and over.
Cheers Steven.
Steve and Naomi were born to host. The property is gorgeous and they go above and beyond to make sure guests are happy. We couldn’t have had a better time. If you want to meet a wonderful couple, camp on rolling hillsides, and see one of the best sunsets in South Australia, this campsite is a must. Not to mention, the proximity to local wineries is a great bonus. Highly recommend Flaxman Wines just down the road.
Steven was an exceptional host. His property is great for free camping. We thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay. Would recommend to all who are looking for a quiet, relaxing place to stay. Kangaroos, bird-life, are there to see.

Steve & Naomi were super friendly hosts. The camp areas were well maintained, clearly marked & spacious. They were kind enough to come to our camp one evening to let us know of a koala in the area they had just seen so we could show our daughters their first wild koala. They advised us of walking trails, local facilities & the best spot to view the sunset. The area is spectacular & full of beautiful wildlife & hundreds of monarch butterflies. Highly recommend a stay here!!

We absolutely loved camping at Steve’s property. He and Naomi were super accomodating - they even called us prior to arriving and gave us all the information we needed to find an excellent spot to set up. The property is very close the the heart of the Barossa (Tanunda) which made it very easy for us to travel between wineries etc. Steve also showed us a beaut spot to drink our takeaways overlooking the valley all the way to the ocean. I think the photos speak for themselves though! We will absolutely be back, and can’t recommend this hipcamp enough!
