Price is per site (or 4 adults).  All of our campsites are 2WD accessible and have pull through bays for your van/boat/trailer.  There are no toilets or showers.

River side fishing, crabbing and camping.  Boat ramp for your paddle craft or tinny.  Bush walk from the river along the creek to the dam. Dipping ponds if it's a hot day. A great crocodile-free base camp right in the middle of Discovery Coast.

River Camp is limited to just four campsites (sites 1-4).  Each 1-acre site comes with its own 1500L "farmer's" swimming pool, foot bath (crate), pool scoop, grass mat, fire drum, 10L rainwater container (refilled daily), leaf rake, shovel and water bucket.  Rainwater is also available if you need to fill water tanks when you arrive.  There is a dump point for chemical toilets.  We provide piles of sticks as firewood, although some logs are provided or you can cut your own.  A fishing deck (in front of site 2), camp box , fishing gear, crab traps and kayak are provided for campers to share.  Campers should expect midges (sandflies) at dawn and dusk; we recommend Bushman repellent.

River Camp Site 1 is best for overnighters and fishing.

River Camp Site 2 is best for fishing and is directly behind the communal gazebo and fishing deck.  Includes a 5x6m sun/rain shelter.

River Camp Site 3 has a nice river view from the pool.

River Camp Site 4 is best for privacy and longer stays.

Overflow Site 5 is away from the river and has no pool.  It can also be used as an overflow site if you can't get all the dates you want at a riverside camp.  This camp is "in progress" and is located at the entrance to (future) Bushland Camp.

Lake Camp Site 6 is a 1-acre clearing next to the dam and is completely surrounded by bush.  This site has a sun/rain shelter, firepit and free wood.

Overflow (+Power) Site 7 is a powered site near the house, 650m from the river and has no pool.  It has a lot less midges and can be used as an overflow site.

Make sure you select the camp site you want when booking or Hipcamp will automatically give you Site 7.   Campers with young children should consider that the dipping ponds, dam and river are unfenced; and that other campers may have dogs.

A Welcome Pack will be emailed with your booking confirmation; which includes contact details, map of property, Covid-safe QR code, local amenities and attractions.  Caretaker Hambo will be at hand to make sure you have everything you need for an enjoyable stay.

The local pub, bottle shop, take away, tackle shop, hardware, post office and petrol station are just 300m from the property.  Rules beach is 15km and the river is navigable the whole way.  There are two other boat ramps on the way to the coast.  The closest large towns are Agnes Water/1770 (50km north) and Bundaberg (80km south).

Telstra mobile reception in the area is good, however Optus mobile reception seems unreliable.  Please text your name and an ETA (via mobile) before arriving at the property.

Cheers,

Charlie Darwin

We had a fantastic time! We were there just after New Years, it was very hot but our private plunge pool at our campsite definitely kept us cool. I recommend taking a gazebo to place over the pool for some shade. We had site number 4 which is very large and could be booked for multiple families with camper trailers all on the one site. The ability to throw in a crab pot at your campsite is unbelievable and yes we caught some. Fishing from the deck is tops and we caught bream and grunter. We took our two small dogs who also enjoyed there stay and were disappointed when we arrived home. There is a lot of tall trees that did interfere with our solar on the roof of our car, so next time we will take our portable panel to place in the sun. We did a day trip to Rules Beach and took a drive along the beach. Hambo is an amazing host and his effort definitely makes camping even easier and 3 nights didn’t seem long enough. We will definitely return with our friends in the very near future.

Such a good find!! Out of te way, but peaceful location. The host was super friendly and everything I needed to go fishing and crabbing - even got a refresher lesson. Plenty of space on our acre camps as well so felt like a private trip. Bottle o, cafe and convenience store 60 seconds down the road!! Will spread the word and hopefully return.

Awesome spot and Hambo the host is a great person and guide with a wealth of knowledge. Fishing and crabbing was on every day and we came away with a good feed each night. Brilliant stay.

We stayed in camp site 2, we had an amazing camping trip.
Lots of space, a decent amount of space from other camp sites, lots of trees for shade, but enough sun for the solar panels, the free rainwater, the amount of firewood/sticks is awesome 👌 The fishing was good and dog friendly.

Had a great time right on the river. Huge campsite with space for the kids to ride their bikes and was blown away by what is provided; shovel, rake, axe (plenty of firewood) rainwater daily, fishing gear, crab pots…dip pool to cool off at each river camp… the list goes on! Hambo is an excellent host and we are planning our next trip back there! as soon as possible!
