I’m the 4th generation on this land, residing in the quaint little village of Denison Mills where my great grandparents made the acquisition many moons ago to use as a stopover point for my great grandfather. He transported flour and grains via horse and wagon to and fro the still standing flour mill. Their house and barn are still standing, however there is little evidence of the original settlers on this land. The Mackenzie-Golf family made this land their home along Scotch Mine Road. A road, long-abandoned, never having seen the likes of a gasoline engine, still runs through our property. The only testimony to the Mackenzie-Golf existence are the large trees once surrounding their tiny dwelling and some columbine flowers whose seeds made their way across the ocean with the first European settlers. When I was a child, rose bushes still grew in the Golf orchard but have long since been consumed by nature.

      Moi et mon conjoint avons adoré notre première expérience avec Hipcamp. Le terrain chez Billy était magnifique, intime dans la forêt et la plateforme était vraiment appréciée. Nous avons vraiment aimé notre expérience, un très beau week-end dans la nature, très tranquille et relaxant. Nous y retournerons assurément !

      Awesomeness all weekend
      It was a very lovely and relaxing stay. We had peace and quite and a little corner of the forest to ourselves. First time camping with our dog and I could not have been more pleased. Our host was helpful and awesome, the composting toilet super clean. Could not have had a better first time Hipcamp experience :)

      I absolutely loved everything at Billy’s campsite. The site was well maintained, clean and super calm. The host was extremely helpful and welcoming. Would 100% recommend!

      A very nice place with the chance of seeing wild life. Very good host, helped us bring some of our gear to the site. We went in winter, looking forward to the next time. I recommend it to anyone.
