Very nice wooded campsite
Stay was great - easy to get to the campsites by the river, left alone with no interruptions & did not have anyone else camped nearby. Bring extra mosquito repellant as they are fierce in the area this time of year, and a rope to repel down the bank to the river if you plan to take a small boat or inflatable with you.
Relaxing weekend getaway
Our stay on Robin's property was perfect for our family getaway over the 4th of July weekend. Robin was a kind and generous host with so much knowledge about nature. Our young kids loved the frogs, turtles, dragon flies, lightening bugs and everything else that comes with having a pond. We even saw a beautiful Heron!
There is a bit of a trek to get to the site but Robin did provide carts to transport our stuff. If you're looking for a relaxing time away then I would highly recommend camping here.
Beautiful stay on the brandywine
Beautiful view of the brandywine In a secluded spot! Very private minus the people floating by, but that was very welcomed and fun to interact with them. River was great to take a few dips in as well on the hot days. Highly recommended
This is basically someone’s backyard. Most of the ideal camping sites are well within sight of the house, so if you’re really looking to “get away” this probably isn’t the site for you.
That said, the property is very large, with lots of open yard, as well as several large trees offering plenty of shade. We were undisturbed by the host, so it felt enough like camping to me. There is a camp toilet with bags and eco-gel available in the host’s pool house, but there’s also plenty of untended land in which to relieve oneself.
The Brandywine river is a short walk back to the end of the property, and offers plenty of shade, but maybe not enough space to comfortably pitch a tent. Your mileage may vary.
It rained all day one day while we were here, and the entire yard was a soggy mess. This made outdoor activities less desirable. If we’d had better weather, this would have been a great spot. As it was, it was a good spot.
I’d happily stay here again.
Robin's land was perfect for a semi-rustic tent camping experience. My friend and I both brought along our sons for a weekend camping trip. It was also my friend's first camping trip in all his 38 years of living, so the place was perfect. The wide creek running along next to the railroad was an epic view in the morning and the trees gave you enough cover to make you feel separated from the rest of the world and the horse farms that surround the area. We heard bull frogs at night and birds in the morning. The perfect rustic-but-not-too-rustic tent camping experience.
As advertised, a very nice setting with both fields and woods. The property is so large it is a bit of a walk to the furthest areas, if that is where you would like to stay, so keep this in mind if you tend to pack heavy. The host is accommodating and helpful.
My family and I had a great time on Robin's property. It's beautiful and spacious and close to so many neat hiking areas. The brook on the property, the horses nearby, and all the trees and birds made for an excellent little spot to go an unplug for the weekend.
