Doug and Lisa are perfect hosts to a beautiful island camp site. A calm creek and tall trees make the sight idyllic. The bathrooms are close and very clean. We enjoyed time by the fire reading and relaxing. It is a bit of a walk to the end of the island with gear - but they provide a very durable wagon cart to move stuff in and out with. We were warned that there was a wedding - turned out two weddings. The atmosphere was friendly and kind - we didn’t feel like a bother to their events. The only downside was that other reviews said the noise wasn’t too bad - but the bass and drums from the DJ’s was pretty loud. I did come to learn that my rez had snuck in under the wire - they try not to have campers when there are large wedding events. However - the DJ’s ended by 11p on Saturday and 10p on Sunday. And so our overall experience was a delight. Doug and Lisa were very kind and checked in on us - talked to us about their beautiful home, the art, and design of the space. They run a beautiful b&b, and the island was perfection. Definitely opt in for fresh eggs!! We decided not to bring our dogs - as we drove about an hour to Ricketts Glen to do the waterfall hike - that hike is difficult but worth it. Gorgeous waterfalls - but I’m still sore from the many stairs I climbed. Doug gave me ample options for local hikes - I did one along the creek - which was really nice. We definitely want to come back! Highly recommend!
The perfect site
Private, well maintained, cozy, and everything you could want from a tent site. Honestly, Doug’s land is like a dream. And SO cool to have lovely bathrooms on the property just a short walk away. We also went on a small and beautiful hike. I’d highly recommend this site to anyone. Looking forward to returning.
We loved the camp site, the sustainability and Doug. He was super helpful and everything was set up for a convenient and beautiful stay. We will be back and will recommend to everyone to go.
Excellent relatively secluded camp
My group and I had a very relaxing weekend at this site. Sleeping with the sounds of the creek breaking was beyond refreshing. The only thing I would note that isn’t super apparent in the ad is the two sites are very close to one another, we lucked out and had no strangers in our midst for our trip, but I would recommend booking both to achieve maximum seclusion.
Clean and peaceful campsite
Camp site was clean, beautiful, and isolated. The facilities were close enough, clean, and well stocked. The parking was a little further from the site than we would have preferred, but not a big issue. The river was very relaxing and clean.
What a fabulous campsite & hospitality!! Doug was an excellent host, the land was so magnificent, & the facilities were pristine. Absolutely would recommend! Falling asleep to the sounds of the creek running by was so perfect. We’ll be back!
The grounds were great for a quick weekend getaway. Plenty of room to set up camp while enjoying some beautiful views. The owners were very accommodating, and explained the best near by hiking, which I was able to begin from the property without driving to a trail.
Gorgeous little campsight! Went during the week and had the peninsula to ourselves. They didn't mind that we switched campsites since there was a goose that had a full nest at the end of the peninsula. They provided a sturdy wagon for the short haul it took to walk from the car to the tent sights. Full shower and bathroom with toiletries and towels. Lovely hiking trail on their property along the creek. 10/10 would stay again!
