Wewelcome you to pitch your tent atop our forested mountain with spectacularsunrises and sunsets, wildlife and birds galore, and dark skies for viewing thestars and the Milky Way! We have three sites available. Site #2 is a bit closer to the main house and a 2 minute walk through a mowed fieldpath. This site is somewhat private but is in view of the main house but does have a grove of pine trees around it.
This site has a fire ring and grill and firewood is provided. Potable water is provided upon arrival.
Our property is secluded and surrounded by the natural environment. We areonly a few miles from a wild elk herd and State Game Lands. Birdwatchers andwildlife enthusiasts will see and hear many common species including bluebirds, blue jays, robins, chickadees, mourning doves and many more including the brownthrasher, the woodcock, various owls, turkey, hawks, and the whippoorwill. Wehave even seen northern harriers and bald eagles. Deer are plentiful and atnight you'll hear coyotes howl. Black bear make an appearance from time totime, but rarely.
The nearby Quehanna Wilds is a wonderland for hikers, backpackers, mountainbikers, bird watchers, hunters and fishermen. There are over 48,000 acres inthis wilderness which is part of two state forest natural areas. Here you canpick wild blueberries in late summer and cross country ski in the wintermonths. We are also near the West Branch of the Susquehanna River on which youcan canoe or kayak. We provide a shuttle service for an added fee. Unplug andunwind at our mountain hideaway!

We had a wonderful time with great views. The site was perfect for a little get away with everything we needed to have a peaceful night. The hosts were great about checking in before and after our stay.
Whispering Pines (Site #2) was outstanding and far exceeded our expectations! Anna Marie and Ed were great hosts and were very personable and accommodating. They welcomed us when we arrived and told us about the privy, trails they set up on their property and answered any questions. She gave recommendations for local hikes, kayaking and where to see wildlife. Ed made sure we had plenty of firewood and had insight into local history, which is always nice to hear. We will definitely be staying with Anna Marie and Ed again in the near future!

Anna Marie and Ed were wonderful hosts! Their hospitality really made the trip along with the amazing campsite itself!
Would highly recommend and will definitely be going back!

Thanks so much, Samuel. We very much enjoyed hosting you and are very happy that you enjoyed your Hipcamp experience at Oak Mountain Hideaway!
Anna Marie and Ed (and their son, Chris) were an absolute delight! They were extremely helpful and went out of their way to make us feel safe, cared for, and have an amazing camping experience. Our car got stuck in mud after a rainy weekend, and they really went out of their way to push our car out of it. I highly recommend this place if you want to relax and have a fantastic camping experience! And everything was super clean and really well cared for. Will definitely be making a return trip!

Jungyun, thank you so much for your kind words! We really enjoyed hosting you and Sam and look forward to welcoming you back again! Chris really appreciates your thoughts as well and was happy to help!
Somehow, this campsite and the entire property are even lovelier in person than the photos capture. The Whispering Pines site is a short walk from the parking area but perfectly quiet and private. The site is a decent size with a nice fire ring and space to set up a tent nearby. The stand of maturing pines makes for a shady and sheltered spot surrounded by mowed field paths and trails through the woods to enjoy. Anna Marie and Ed were kind and hospitable and provide plenty of amenities like firewood and a toilet. Overall this was a pleasant and peaceful experience in a gorgeous setting!

Anna Marie & Ed were excellent hosts and made us feel safe and welcomed the minute we arrived! The site was just perfect and Anna Marie, Ed, & their family who were in town made sure we had all we needed and answered all questions (esp since it was our first time tent camping)! I’d absolutely recommend and we plan to visit again in the future!
Anna Marie and Ed were very sweet and yet gave us privacy. Everything was well maintained, walking paths around the property were cleared and well marked. Parking was a little tight. The flush toilet in a clean little shed-type building with a light was wonderful since I had two kids in tow. There was plenty of firewood in one bundle for two nights. Lots of birds and deer, though I heard the birds more than I saw them. Be aware that whippoorwills are nocturnal, apparently. I was certainly surprised. I had just enough phone signal to send a text or two when I arrived. Also, I noticed no poison ivy anywhere, which is a nice change from many places I’ve camped. The view from this site is mostly of the main house and a cabin. If you walk around a stand of pine trees there is a bench where you can sit and look out across the hills, but you can’t see a lot from the tent site itself.
We had a wonderful experience. Anna Marie and Ed are such great hosts!! The site is beautiful and very well kept. Everything was perfect. We have small kids (8 and 2) and they had an amazing time. We’ll be going back soon. Highly recommended!
