The wooded camp site is primitive and perfect for "small" van camping, hammocks, and small tents (2 small tents maximum on the site). You will be the ONLY campers in the area. We are "nice pet" friendly, please don't have your dog(s) chase our chickens that are up at the top of the mountain. We have a mountain spring (when the spring is running - most of the summer). The ferns will be in full glory by the end of May and are amazing, covering the forest floor. Deer, Wild Turkey, chipmunks, squirrels and many woodland birds abound. A picnic table, fire ring and firewood (one nights) is available on the camp site. You can purchase more firewood on site at the cheapest price around. There is a compost toilet facility located in a nearby shed that is a clean space for taking care of business. WiFi on the property as long as the plant life is not too thick! (normally good until the end of June). There is a 1/2 mile hiking loop on the property and many challenging trails in the area, including the starting point for the Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail.

Beautiful property and very close to hiking and falls, virgil was so helpful and kind we loved our trip
Virgil's set up was excellent! There was great privacy at the site and the bathroom set up was top notch.
Cannot gush more about this site! The area was raining hard on our way up and Virgil went out of his way to make sure to provide us with a tarp to put under the tent. Such a picturesque place with the amount of surrounding ferns. I nerded out over the bathroom shed that is sooo comfortable and the compost toilet (We love sustainability!) My boyfriend and I scheduled a tour of FallingWater, which is an easy 15min drive from the campsite. The town is very scenic!
Would recommend the host to consider having cashapp/venmo/PayPal options for guests to tip for firewood, etc. to make sure he is compensated for his generosity!
We had such a great time and already planning on reserving the site again in early summer!

Great spot and great host. Would stay at Virgil’s place again!
Virgil has a very nice spot setup in the woods for campers. You pass a cabin on your way in but it’s plenty far enough away from the site to still feel private. Virgils house is way up on the hill so again very hard to see or hear. There are currently no other tent sites on the property so it’s secluded with the exception of road noise which really wasn’t a bother. There is only really room for 2 tents to be setup on opposite sides of the fire. The jug of water, huge fire ring, load of firewood, sealed stumps around the fire and picnic were great additional touches on site. The bathroom was extremely clean and continent to have. Overall a great experience I would recommend and visit again.

Even though we had a rainy weekend, we loved our stay at Virgil's campsite. The site itself is gorgeous! There was a flat tent spot, a great fire pit with log seats, and I could have spent all day just staring out at the ferns. We opted for the tree tent and our little girls loved it! The composting toilet shed was a pleasant surprise with books, area pamphlets, and honor-system supplies. It was a great jumping-off spot for visiting the state park, the Laurel Caverns, and other activities. We definitely planning on visiting Virgil's place again! Highly recommended!

Virgil was super communicative and helpful. The campsite is magically beautiful and comfortable with all the ferns, moss, trees and mushrooms. My tent is too big for the site so I rented the dome tent for my party of two. What a treat to arrive to an already set up tent, with a mat at the entrance and blankets spread on the floor- so unexpected, cozy and appreciated. There were four seats around the fire ring that were varnished on the sitting surface. A generous supply of firewood under a tarp was there for us. The picnic table was in great condition. The comfort station is a short walk and super clean, dry, roomy with many useful and fun touches. This is obviously a ministry of caring for Virgil and family to host strangers with such welcoming thoughtfulness. I would definitely camp here again. The proximity to the Ohiopyle attractions is fantastic. We could hear cars pass by occasionally, but never heard any people. Enjoyed the sounds of birds and deer.

Campsite is beautiful - Virgil and Pam are great hosts - everything about this campsite is top notch. Note you can see and hear the road from the site - but depending on your level of secluded expectations - i found this to not be of any issue - traffic is minimal ... I had a very pleasant stay ... I will go again

Virgil was the best host! We thoroughly enjoyed a weekend unplugged in his idyllic setting of ferns and forest. My husband and I woke up to a family of deer having breakfast in the woods. Space is well thought out, with special touches such as log seating by the fire. We used them as side tables and foot rests for the ultimate in relaxation. Vergil started us out with seasoned dry firewood, fresh eggs from his free range hens at a bargain of $2 a dozen, and very clean privy. Thank you to Virgil and his family for sharing their special property with us, we hope to return soon.
