Places to see near Doug H.’s Land
If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
We had a wonderful time at this campsite. Doug was an extremely gracious host, providing us with certain tools to get our campsite up and running.
The campsite itself is located on a sort of peninsula, not too far from the bathrooms/ shower area. But it was far enough though, that we were not disturbed by the wedding that was going on nearby on the same property.
The campsite came with a fire pit as well as a cooking grate. I believe there was a pizza oven located on the main property, but we did not take advantage of that.
Overall, Doug’s property was beautiful and had everything we needed to have a great camping trip. We will be back again during the warmer months.
Beautiful and peaceful site!
This campsite is great! It’s secluded quiet and beautiful. There was a wedding on the main property but we were far enough away that we weren’t disturbed. It is nice to have restrooms nearby if you need them! We had minimal interaction with Doug as he had the wedding going on but he showed us the site and made sure we had what we needed.
The only downside was all the firewood was soaked, we probably should have brought some with us to be safe.
Beautiful camp site!
We absolutely loved our stay and will definitely be back again. The facilities are a short walk away and all very well kept. While you’re at the campsite you feel very much like you’re in the wilderness but all essentials are close by! The creek really made it for us and there was nothing more relaxing than laying in the hammock listening to the water running!
Really great place to camp out!
I was there in early March (still snow on the ground) and during the week, where there were no events.
The grounds are really cool, they showed me some of very nice spaces that are part of the venue. What's nice is that you also have some access there (like bathrooms) when camping.
The campsite(s) are on a small little peninsula/island, #1 I think is closer to the rest of the grounds, and #2 is on the other end. They are not super far apart, but also not right next to each other. I was easily able to get a hammock up and hear the water all around me (though I don't think there is any fishing that can be done in the stream). Both sites had fire pits with grill plates.
There are a couple other campsites or something on the other side of the stream that are sort of nearby, but my guess is you can't even see them when the trees are filled out.
There are some cool walking areas nearby, including an old abandoned rail tunnel. There is also another island that you can get to (depending on water levels) and walk around on.
Hosts were extremely communicative and gracious, providing info, firewood and access to the bathrooms.
A very cool spot, would definitely recommend people consider it!
I would highly recommend camping here. The campsite was wonderfully picturesque and very well kept! The owners and everybody we met at the site were incredibly hospitable. There are some walking trails nearby with great views.
