Dennis Alan City Boy Homesteader here, I just moved from the NYC area to build an off grid homestead on a bare 28 acres in central PA surrounded by Amish farms. The land is still pretty much raw and beautiful with many different spots on the property to pitch a tent for the night or week! From pitching a tent on an open pasture, surrounded by trees alone, next to a creek, or even in an old rock quarry. That's right there are two old rock quarries that you could take advantage of. The small on has it's own little cave at the base and the larger one has a stage made of rocks to facilitate shows there. Our neighbor is the famous Woodward Cave and just down the road is one of the top 5 trout fishing spots in the northeast, Coburn PA. A town over, at the only light around, is Millheim, PA where the few businesses are a cool art gallery, farm to table restaurant/ brew pub, IngleBean (.com) Coffee House (that I own), local winery, 2 wine stores and a local meat market! wow great place to be on a Saturday afternoon. Most weekends in the summer will have some kind of fair or festival going on so please check in with me with any questions.

This campsite is a great base for exploring the state forests and parks nearby! The deck seems to have been in the process of being repaired, but the ground where it used to be was level (just hard to get a tent stake in), so it was fine for our purposes. We appreciated the seclusion, scenery, birdwatching, and firewood that Dennis left for us!
This was such an amazing and tranquil camp spot. Easy to find, secluded, and a throwback to old Pennsylvania. Would definitely recommend for as many nights as you can!
Nice place to relax and this is our second stay there. It offers a pretty view of a meadow area and a mountain ridge. The portapotty was clean and the birds and the outlying area were great.
The view is to die for, and the combination of lightening bugs and a sky full of stars made the site feel magical at night. Wish we could've stayed longer!
Dennis’s Vista site was excellent. We enjoyed the quiet as well as the views of the surrounding mountain range and the farm animals. We plan to be back soon! We walked some of the paths and it was so fascinating. The portapotty was very clean and all the toiletries were appreciated. Thanks for all your assistance and recommendations in the area. Your coffee shop had great staff!

The site was really nice, relaxed with fire pit ready and large wooden platform for use. We took our 24ft travel trailer and although it was a tight fit getting in and out, Dennis was great and helped by pulling back some branches and modifying the course of the road to make it easier. Quiet at night, and private save the occasional horse and buggy in the distance. Great view at day and stars at night. Not much daytime shade at this site but his other sites offer more shade. No hook ups, we were dry camping, and knew that in advance. We and our kids and dogs had a really nice time!
We had a great camping experience at BestVista! We stayed at site #1 and the tanquility and peace of this location. We had a van and two tents on the platform. Great level lot with awesome views of Amish working farms. Purchased burgers and cheese from local farms from Dennis. Great expereience!
A picturesque campsite with a lovely view of the valley on Dennis’ property. The site is tucked away from the others on the property giving adequate privacy. It was a cold weekend and the tent blunted any additional windchill. There is a well built fire pit with plenty of firewood within walking distance, a lifesaver when temperatures dropped below 35. Dennis was friendly and answered all questions quickly before the trip. We checked out his coffee shop, Inglebean, in the next town over and went every morning of our trip. Would highly recommend visiting at least once during your stay.
Myself, husband and son had a great time. Dennis Alan Homestead was a truly unique camping experience. The metal canvas tent on a raised wooden deck came complete with a comfy queen bunk bed. The site looked out upon an open field where we would wave to neighbors on horse and buggy passing through in the distance. Dennis was friendly and accommodating. His coffee shop in town was a cool point of interest that we hit on our way home. My family is already planning a return stay in the spring!
