In a remote valley just north of Roanoke VA, along the banks of Craig's Creek, the property includes mature hardwood forest, pasture, and an 1830s log cabin where we live. We love to share this special place with visitors, and have some basic amenities for campers. The campsites are at the edge of a large pasture and just a few steps from the creek and our big swimmin' hole. Totally secluded in a remote valley - barely a house in sight (but our cabin is a short walk through the woods if you need something), no cell service for most providers, but within a short drive of Roanoke and Blacksburg, and countless outdoor recreation opportunities.

Formerly Meadow Creek Campground, this beautiful piece of land has two camping spots and a tent spot overlooking a meandering tributary of the Little River called Meadow Creek. Camper sites have water and electric hookup, one with sewer. Tent sites are primitive, but guests can access water and electricity at the picnic shelter. A portable outhouse is nearby. Picnic table provided in each spot. Location is central to Radford, Floyd and Christiansburg. Cell service is spotty. It's a great place to unplug! You will need to drive through a grassy area to reach the sites. While the sites are located on fairly flat ground, leveling will be required. We do NOT recommend following GPS. Please see directions to the property and follow carefully to avoid driving around unnecessarily on narrow, winding roads.

Learn more about this land: Fall asleep to hooting owls and the gentle ripple of the river and creek that flank your campsite. Wake up with a dip in the river or a morning hike in the woods. Feel the hug of the mountains throughout your stay, while also having access to Blacksburg nearby should you need it.  DIRECTIONS: Upon entry the gravel road is shared with my neighbor and it is about 1.5 miles from the entry gate to the site. You'll enter thru a gate (it may be closed, if closed please close behind you as my neighbor sometimes has cows). Go approx 1 mile the road will split...go up the hill on the right. Continue past the Hay barn another half mile. Park on the left side of the gravel road along the tree line. Another 50ft you'll see a wood foot bridge across the creek. The sites are ahead, PawPaw is first, then Bloodroot Base Camp (bell tent), and lastly Cohosh Cove is the most private. Each site has a sign as well When driving, please be respectful of the right of way. Drive slowly and respect the farm equipment. Also please do not venture onto the neighbor’s property other than entry and exit. About the property 20 minutes from Blacksburg and 35 minutes from Roanoke, our campground gives you great access to the “Triple Crown” of the Appalachian trail, consisting of McAfee Knob, Tinker Cliffs, and Dragon’s Tooth. Conquer these iconic peaks of Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains for spectacular views of the surrounding wilderness. Additionally, explore Falls Ridge Nature preserve, Cascades waterfall, and Carvin’s Cove for hiking, kayaking and mountain biking.  Or just stay on the campground and enjoy the hiking and swimming we offer here.  Nearby in Blacksburg take advantage of the local breweries or Virginia Tech football home games. You can also find Christmas tree cutting in Floyd county, 45mins away.  This property deserves to be shared with others. It is peaceful and beautiful. As your Host, I am passionate about conservation and also teaching people about the medicinal uses of our local herbs. I can lead medicinal herb walks upon request for $25 a person. I typically try to meet the campers if I can upon arrival, I am available for questions and can be hands on or off as the needs of campers suggest. I have had campers ask if I wanted to share a beverage and sit around the fire and have done so. I want to make your experience as enjoyable as possible. I love the peacefulness the property offers, and that you’re in the middle of the wilderness but also have quick access to things in town. The river campsites are my favorite part of the property. At the main cabin I have goats and chickens which hipcampers are more than welcome to greet.  About the listing Pitch your tents at the campsite nestled along the side of the mountain on the banks of the North Fork of the Roanoke River. As you fall asleep, listen to the occasional hoot of an owl, howl of a coyote, and gentle ripple of the river and creek that flank the campsite. Campers will have access to a private composting toilet, fire pit, and picnic table.  We offer two different campsites on the property, so note that you may see or hear other campers on the grounds during your stay.  What to bring Your tent and camping equipment Potable water and/or water filtration and purification equipment Fire starting equipment if needed, assuming there is no local fire ban in place Pets are welcome During warm months, a swim suit to enjoy the river! Meadowcroft is a semi-primitive cabin on the bank of the beautiful Meadow River. Swim, fish, and hang out with the river otters. It's like camping, but with a roof over your head, WiFi, A/C in the summer, and a cozy wood stove in the winter. A large lawn with fire ring fronts a long section of lazy river (perfect for paddleboarding, tubing, canoeing, etc.), with worldclass whitewater beginning about a mile downstream. Premium bouldering is two miles away, Meadow sport climbing 10 min., Summersville Lake 15 min., and all other NRG-area climbing and National Park within a 25-min radius. Like Camping, But a Cabin The cabin is a lovingly souped-up Amish-built shed. Like camping, you bring your own sleeping gear and most of your cooking gear, and you pack everything out and tidy up after yourself. ***Please take all trash with you when you leave. THERE IS A $100 CHARGE FOR TRASH LEFT BEHIND*** This is a self-cleaning cabin, which means *you clean up after yourself to prepare for the next guest* (not that it cleans itself, unfortunately). Retreat to our tiny houses that look like miniature log cabins inside & enjoy the freedom of having the whole space to yourselves. Just like the kind in the TV shows, we built these last year. Our 18'x8' tiny house can sleep up to four. We are located right off of the main highway, in a campground/RV park ***off to the side in our own area where we have 4 tiny houses in total**. All are self contained and on grid with full electric & water. **No children under age 10 and not pet friendly**WE CLOSE THEM DOWN FOR THE WINTER FROM OCT 22, 2023 to MAY 1, 2024*** We are located exactly 2 & 1/2 miles north of the New River Gorge Bridge which is the edge of town of Fayetteville. We are close to the location that Airbnb put us, but due to West Virginia addressing it is the closest we could show on their map. Please ask us any questions you may have prior to booking about location, the tiny houses, activities, or anything!! ** No children under age of 10 and all tiny houses are not pet friendly** We love the location being 2 minutes from the New river and close to all national parks. The Gorge is an awesome site and we hope others enjoy are area as much as we do. Close to white water rafting and rock climbing areas too. Guests have access to the parking lot and the yards in back of the cabins. Feel free to bring a frisbie! Also have free access to free washing machines and dryers on the property as well. ***PLEASE NOTE*** Even though they can sleep up to 4 people, it may be very cramped inside with that many.**** Please note the tiny house is 18' X 8'. The first floor approximately 126 square feet including the bathroom. The second floor loft is approx. 80 square feet. Our water is city water on tap. ALSO, there are 4 of the tiny houses on that part of the campground. EVERY tiny house has it's own picnic table and fire ring. You will never share anything with any other tiny house guest. This is like the new tiny house hotels! All 4 of them are listed on Airbnb. Ask us for the Airbnb links to the others! Built just last year, our 18'x8' tiny house can sleep up to four. **Our tiny house ceilings are low, with just 6’2’’ in the kitchen. Clearance in the loft is about 4 feet. There’s a steep, narrow ladder into the open loft, which has a small railing, and doorways are narrow at 24 inches wide.** We have 4 tiny houses in total. We are located right off of the main highway, in a campground/RV park ***off to the side in our own area***. All of our tiny houses are completely self contained and on grid with full electricity and running water. ***Please note*** Even though they can sleep up to 4 people, it may be cramped inside with that many.**** Please note the tiny house is 18' X 8'. ***IN THE EARLY SPRING AND AGAIN IN THE FALL UNTIL END OF OCTOBER**There is a space heater and also a wall heater. Please note that these may not warm up to 80 degrees or more*** ***PLEASE NOTE****The couch on the first floor has 3 sections that are stacked and are made out of a regular 8 " memory foam , full size bed mattress. The mattress was cut into 3 sections and each section covered. This can sleep 2 people but please note it is a full size mattress, not a queen size. The 3 sections lay next to each other & become a regular full size mattress on the floor. *****The fitted sheet included in the bedding will keep all the pieces put tightly together side by side*** Please ask us any questions you may have prior to booking if you are unsure. There is a regular home mattress that is queen size in the loft as well. Both are very thick memory foam, regular bed mattresses with all pillows and bed linens provided. The bedding for the first floor bed will be laid out on the couch when you come in. There is a folding card table and 2 metal folding chairs in the tiny house. The full bathroom has a shower, toilet, and sink. We include towels, toilet paper, and hand soap. Usually the towel sets are underneath the bathroom sinks. You will have access to the laundry building where washers and dryers are free to use. Kitchenette has a kitchen sink with running water, mini fridge, coffee maker, microwave and a hot plate. We include a Mr Coffee type coffee maker, filters, coffee and styrofoam coffee cups. We have one pot, one pan (which are specific to the hot plate), paper plates, paper bowls, plastic ware -knives, forks, and spoons, & plastic cups. We also provide liquid dish soap and paper towels. There is a television but no satellite, cable or local stations. Feel free to bring your own DVD player, games, etc. and cords. We do not supply cords for your devices. **Please Note** There is NO wifi. The entire New River Gorge area does not have a good service provider yet. Cell service in our area is usually very good for most carriers, as we are high up and off the main highway. Your cellular hot spot should work very well. Outside the tiny house, there is a picnic table and fire ring that you’re able to use to cook and push aside the grate later to sit around a fire. Firewood is for sale for $5 per bundle if you call the phone # on the door. They will deliver it in a short period of time. You may want to bring lawn chairs as I do not supply them. Also any outdoor cooking utensils would be good to bring as well. Love playing games? This is the place for you! More than enough space outside to play bags, horses, washers, frisbee, soccer, kickball...you name it! Ask me about our space! There is plenty of parking to include trailers and toys. Our tiny houses are along the side on the inside of a campground. Feel free to have a friend camp outside the tiny house. We have no parking rules, feel free to park right by your tiny house. **Our tiny house ceilings are low, with just 6’2’’ in the kitchen. Clearance in the loft is about 4 feet. There’s a steep, narrow ladder into the open loft, which has a small railing, and doorways are narrow at 24 inches wide.** We clean and sanitize your space according to Airbnb’s enhanced cleaning protocol that was developed Internationally with EcoLab. Here are a few highlights: We sanitize high-touch surfaces, down to the doorknob. We use cleaners and disinfectants approved by global health agencies, and the cleaning team wear protective gear to help prevent cross-contamination. We clean each room using extensive cleaning checklists. If you would like extra cleaning supplies, please call us, do not message or email. We also comply with local laws, including any additional safety or cleaning guidelines. Please ask us any questions you may have. We have also own 7 cabins on one property about 2 miles north of the tiny houses. They are also listed in Airbnb, if you can't find their listing please message and I will send you the link to their listings. All are listed in Airbnb. Great for groups or family get togethers! Our intention is for the tiny house to be affordable and work with your schedule. If the price you see for the dates you want is not available, please message us and let us know what would work for you so we can try to accommodate you. **PLEASE NOTE** Our general area has a few food delivery services. However, most restaurants will also have carry outs available for you to pick up. Also our guests have ordered groceries at our local Walmart for pick up. This is very handy for groups.

Mark is a great host and communicator. He gave us clear directions on what roads are best for pulling a trailer. Our rv site was awesome as we were the only people staying here at the time. The sky was clear for amazing star gazing and this location is about an hour from New River Gorge National Park. T-Mobile home internet was “weak”, about 25 Mbps - but enough to stream a tv show. Verizon cell was about 2 bars and T-Mobile cell was 1 bar. One thing to consider when staying here is the road in is very steep - about 14-16% grade, so if you have more trailer than truck, you may burn up your transmission/brakes. We would definitely stay here again!

This was a great spot to set up for the weekend. Ample, flat space. The stand up bar was extremely useful and well thought out. The fire pit was a great size. We let the hosts know ahead of time that we were interested in purchasing firewood and they had it waiting for us, and they covered it from the weather. Port-a-potty close by and it was what you’d expect, well stocked with TP and hand sanitizer. The river view was awesome and there was so much wildlife to see, and we were lucky enough to spot an otter. Recommend! Worth noting: -the drive down to the site is steep and a mix of gravel and pavement and finishing in grass, there is lots of hipcamp signage but heads up -the train tracks are active and close

Absolutely love this place! I stayed on a Saturday in November, it was quiet so I can’t speak to busy periods. It’s a beautiful mixed camping space, uniquely designed with cool amenities everywhere from goats, libations, and food to bike rentals and a bike track. As a solo traveler, I felt safe, remote enough yet close enough to dining and the local town. It’s a gorgeous property with amenities and touches that most campgrounds can’t offer. I slept soundly beneath the stars, woke early, walked along the goats and enjoyed a warm shower in a warm bathroom. I highly recommend and look forward to visiting in the spring!

Excellent place to stay. I rented an RV pad close to the bathhouse for a chilly couple of days and it was clutch. The Bike Farm has everything you need; including firewood, a bar/restaurant, a bike shop and GOATS. It's also conveniently located near the town of Fayetteville and less than 5 minutes from the Bridge. Excellent stay during the down season.

Awesome little place even if it's snowing. Snow on the ground and the little rocket stove was great because we had no heat in the vehicle! Beautiful stream and the bathroom facilities are always a bonus even if outdoors. Everything was clean and inviting. The host was very responsive and had lots of ready to burn wood for sale.

Perfect spot to get away for the weekend. Private area but you can hear the campers at the other spots. You can hear the barking working dogs at night and the train but that wasn’t a big deal for us. Easy access to filter your water, plenty of firewood provide it which was nice since we stayed on a cold weekend. Plenty of hikes within a 30 min drive!

The camp site was in a clearing along woodline in a secluded location. Very accommodating and scenic. I noticed each campsite was similarly situated affording privacy and good separation from the others. It was also extremely clean. The leaves had been blown clear of the path to the outhouse, which was well stocked with tp. The view of the nightsky was as advertised. I highly recommend this campsite for it's ease of access, beautiful location, and seclusion.

I think this site is as-described in the listing! It’s a convenient location to several of the national park trailheads. The outhouse is cute and clean - you just take the trail that goes over the bridge and up the stone steps and you’ll find it (the tp is in the plastic tubs - I missed it at first!). I camped in my car just because the site is in a little rural neighborhood and directly across from a house - it seemed nice and safe, but as a single woman camper with my dog, I just felt more comfortable in a locked car. The only thing I’d change is maybe the fire pit walls being a little higher - it’s pretty low to the ground and I was worried about the sparks!

I came to camp on Tony’s land to specifically view the sunrise on October 25. It was the one month anniversary of losing my son, and I couldn’t have asked for any better way to spend it with him. In my opinion, the best place to view the sunrise is site 104, which is what i snagged. If you’re looking for a place with a view, this is it!

We enjoyed our stay at the bikefarm. I honestly did not know what to expect as we never stayed nor heard of a bikefarm before. The location was perfect and super close to the Long Point Trail Head, New River Gorge National Park, and Fayetteville. The shower/bath house was clean and a short walk from the site. Very peaceful. We felt safe. The bike park was cute, but the goats on the property were even cuter! We would definitely come back here.

The views are breathtaking! From the fire rings to the Adirondack chairs - the wooden swings at our site - it was all so well taken care of and welcoming. The mushroom trail was adorable. Loved the location as it was close to so many areas to explore. And also the recommendation for local food was excellent. “Dish” was delicious food and atmosphere was great.

Bluestone Camp & Retreat is a Presbyterian Summer Camp Program with organized summer youth and family camp activities over 4 weeks in June and July, and a three-season Retreat Destination for a variety of church, non-profit, and family groups April through November. We are a ministry of the Presbytery of West Virginia (PCUSA) serving member congregations as well as many other church and non-profit organizations. Bluestone has been in operation since 1953. Our Mission is to provide experiences that are character building in nature through Summer Camping Programs and other programmatic events for children, youth, and adults; and to provide opportunities for recreation, rest, and renewal through the use of our facilities as a Center of Christian Hospitality. We have five camp sites that overlook the Bluestone Lake Reservoir.  Each is a clearly defined 60' x 20' space along one side of a level grass field, and each is equipped with a 50/30/20 amp electric pedestal, water spigot, sewer drop, picnic table, and an above ground steel campfire pit. There is also a shower house available for Hipcampers to use.   We have two price points: 1. Our Regular Price per night is $35 based on double occupancy. Each additional person (ages 12 and older, max = 6 people per site) is $10. 2. Our price increases to $50 per night for the months of June and July which is our high season. Each additional person (ages 12 and older, max = 6 people per site) is $10. Youth and Children ages 11 and younger are free, so keep that in mind when you select the number of guests in your party!

What makes W.T. Farm special is the diversity of textures of the landscape. We have great mountain top views, as well as, a deep holler with cliffs, rock outcroppings, and waterfalls. The fields are full of fruit and nut trees and there are 5 ponds. Each of these supports its own flora and fauna. I acquired stewardship of this land 35 years ago and have developed perennial orchards wherever possible. I started with pears and have branched out into pawpaws, apples, persimmons, currants, black walnuts etc. and I boast that I planted the first commercial hickory oil orchard in the world. I am an eccentric horticulturalist and graft cultivar varieties onto existing trees like oaks, hickories, black walnuts, and even the maligned invasive honeysuckle, autumn olive and multiflora rose. Just last year I bought an adjoining farm that opened up 50 acres of more orchard planting. It is on top of the mountain and offers an expansive view of the valley and ridge system that defines our region. Funny thing is that because the land between the old farm and the new farm is divided by cliffs in the holler the only way to get from one to the other is a 12 minute drive or vigorous hiking. On this new land is a historic log cabin I am renovating that is said to be one of the original settler's cabin on the mountain. Because of the amount of tree fruit I grow and the varied landscape, there is a rich diversity of birds and animals to be seen. One of my favorite walks is along the cliffs to the top waterfall where there is a sweet wading pool. I have also built a number of ponds and four of them are quite swimmable. One has a dock and is where we spend much summer time refreshing and frolicking. The farm is also a small (very small) licensed farm winery and we make and sell traditional hard cider from our apples and pears. Our cider can be purchased along with our nut oils and flours and other farm produce you may not be familiar with. We live to eat. Coming here is a gastronomical adventure! I run the Acornucopia project from here and from it we are developing a foragers network that would very much suit the lifestyle of hipcampers. We pay foragers for wild nuts they gather. The cabins are primitive, no electric or water. There are solar lights inside and and out also a propane wall heater for chilly nights. This is comfortable camping in the Beautiful Mountains of WV. About

Bluestone Wildlife Management Area is the antidote for summer blues. Get out of that cubicle and hit up these 17,632 acres of land and lake. Boat, fish or canoe until you’re as wrinkled as a prune, and then head into the great green wilderness for some hiking or horseback riding. A visit to Bluestone WMA is practically a destination wedding between water and woods—you’ll quickly fall in love with this easygoing swath of wilderness. Trout fishing doesn’t get much better than the stocked Indian Creek, and Bluestone’s WMA status allows hunting in the area if that’s your cup of iced tea. You’ll only find one body of water bigger than Bluestone Lake in all of West Virginia, so take advantage of this ocean of freshwater with a long day in the boat. When the sun has set and so must you, head to one of 330 campsites for a night in the quiet woods. In a place this big, the only friends you make might be trout!

The ideal time to visit Bluestone Wildlife Management Area is during the spring and fall when the weather is mild and the natural beauty is at its peak.
