Hughes Holler

5.6mi from Kanopolis Lake · 2 sites · Lodging · Marquette, KS
The Hughes Holler camp site is located in the mix grassed prairie of central Kansas. The site was once a homestead of some of the early pioneers of the area. While none of the remnants of the former farmstead remain. The the tranquility of sitting at a campfire on the banks of the pond can let ones mind wonder about what life would have been like living there in days gone by. The site includes a spring fed pond with abundant fishing, predominately white bass. Guests are allowed to keep any fish they wish to eat on site. But please release any others back into the pond. There is a wooded area which provides nice shade for an area to relax from the Kansas summer sun and wind. Campers can also enjoy a camp fire either pond side of underneath the trees. Sleeping accommodations are in a deluxe water proof tent. There are 2 queen air mattress which will comfortably sleep 4 people. There is also a composting toilet on site. Glamping Hosts provide some hot drink mixes, a coffee perculator, pot for boiling water, or making soup, a cooking grate for the fire, some hygiene products. We are working on a solar shower! We are located 2 miles from the Kanopolis Lake wildlife and recreation area. Which includes numerous hiking trails at Horse Thief canyon. As well as 7 miles from historic Marquette with its unique downtown shops and activities: distillery, motorcycle museum, soda fountain shop/homemade ice cream, disc golf course, grocery store, bar and grill and liquor store. Also, located just 15 miles from Little Swedon, Lindsborg, KS. Great shopping and museums, art galleries for you enjoyment!

"CONTACT HOST" BEFORE BOOKING if site says no availability, you need longer stay, possible discount or you are confused. Don't fret about site as you may choose after arrival - sites affected by weather changes, eg downpours. We are a delightfully funny almost 5 acre farmstead built by Swedish Pioneers in 1876. Our Hipcamp was started in 2023. We have a variety of areas for vehicles, tents and small campers midst leaning trees and funky old farm buildings. Fenced paddocks to run free. Well water via hydrant, some drinking water available. Outhouse. Access to electricity, if you have an extension cord. Lots of campfire wood to collect, burn and take. The Milky Way on a clear night. - SMACK IN THE BELLY BUTTON of the U.S.A. We are 30 minutes from the intersection of INTERSTATE 70 (east-west) and INTERSTATE 135 (north-south) - CREATURES: The Host Charlie Dog, shy Klaus dog, 2 sheep, unseen cats and a goat named Dolly. All love to hangout. - VERY SAFE. Very popular with solo travelers cuz we have gates and we are PROTECTIVE HOSTS who care and look after you as if we were all one dysfunctional family. - PARK AT YOUR CAMPSITE - RUN WILD AND FREE at sites in the acre paddocks with 5' fencing MORE MESSAGING THAN USUAL. Beverly, Human Host, and not Canine Hosts, must know ahead when to unlock the gate and help you get settled. Special requests best made before arrival. A sense of humor and flexible joy for creative chaos will help give you a funny little farm experience. (More apt, Funny Farm Experience). LINDSBORG, just 3 miles away, has a population of 3,200, but White’s Foodliner is a grocery store with a Swedish aisle, our local Geographic Photographer is at Small World Gallery. Shops have toys, Swedish gifts, art, homemade ice cream, etc. Pharmacy, post office. Dala Horses every corner. LOTS of events. See https://www.visitlindsborg.com/ CORONADO HEIGHTS is our local castle where you can picnic and watch the sun rise or sun set with a 360 degree view of central Kansas countryside. Its only 15 minutes from Our Little Grove. See https://www.visit lindsborg.com/Coronado-heights MEADOWLARK TRAIL is a nicely groomed biking and walking trail across the field from your campsite. Three miles into town. Bike for Swedish Pancakes.

Daniel's 100-yr-old farm

48mi from Kanopolis Lake · 3 sites · Tents, RVs · Hutchinson, KS
I am proud to be a fourth-generation caretaker of this farm and surrounding acreage.  My great-grandfather purchased this land in 1921 and since then, my family has been farming the best way that we knew how.  For the last 30 years, that has meant a divergence from traditional farming practices to focus on regenerative farming-- farming that focuses on enriching the health of the soil and the animals instead of depleting it.On our farm, we raise beef, lamb, pigs and chickens and they all live out on pasture.  In our farm store we sell meat, eggs, and raw, all-grass dairy products like milk, butter, cheese, kefir, and yogurt.  Our customers drive from all parts of central Kansas to shop at Jako Farm because our food is different than food in the grocery store.  We call it JakoPure food. Not only do we share our life-giving, gut-restoring food with others, but we want to share the experience of our farm, too.  That's why we've started hosting guests on hipcamp so that you can truly experience what's special about our farm.  Each location provides a unique perspective on our farm, and you'll engage a different part of our story at each place.  But wherever you stake your temporary claim at Jako Farm, we hope you experience the peace and rest that we know and love.Learn more about this land:Jako Farm is a working regenerative farm, and this campsite provides an easy view of all that goes on here. The cows and sheep will graze near by while the chickens scratch in the distance.  You'll see the farmers moving the animals to new pasture and the llama playing games with the sheep.  If you're up at sunrise, you'll see Ken bringing the cows up to the barn for milking (April through November).  Its pretty quiet here, except for the subtle noises of wildlife.  (Fair warning:  if you're in a tent, you will probably hear the milking machine kick on at 6:30am.)  We're also proud to be a smell-free farm because all animals live out on pasture.  There are killer sunrises and sunsets here.  If you're lucky, you'll also see our resident bald eagle pair soaring through the sky.A bathroom with shower is available for your use in the barn nearby. Please be respectful of farm operations, although we're always open to answering questions if you see us around. Farm Tours are not included with a booking.
