Wow! What a treat. After many nights of tent camping, this was our first "glamping" experience. We were not let down. They have thought of so many ways to make your stay super easy and comfortable. I didn't expect a full kitchen with snacks available to buy (for 50-cents), soaps, shampoos and conditioners in the showers, fresh towels, and an abundance of lights! You could absolutely just show up with your clothes, toothbrush/paste, and groceries and be set. We took a dip in the river and it was a beautiful (albeit with a little more algae than I love swimming in), deep, and remote spot. We saw many butterflies on our hike down to the river, too. the sites were private and had lovely porches with chairs to sit out and watch the stars. The ONLY thing that could make this better is if there was pluming so we didn't have to use outhouses (though they were very tidy), and a hammock! The kids enjoyed going to see the butterflies at the nature center in the AM, too! We will definitely come back.
The glamping tent was beautifully furnished (I stayed in 4), and the area around the tent was clean and comfortable. There are plenty of signs to help you understand the area and find what you need - almost too many! I will say that the entry area close to the butterfly retreat includes a view of a side property that appears cluttered and offers a bad first impression, but when you drive back to the glamp zone everything is neat and tidy and comfortable. The check in procedure was about as hands on as I’ve experienced so far on either HipCamp or Airbnb experiences, in that the host met me, led me to my site, walked me through all rules and had me sign in. I also was asked to provide my credit card which made me feel a little uncomfortable as I had already paid on the app, but I complied as I have done so for hotels, and it seemed they were trying to be thorough as this was their first weekend but open. If this had been my first HipCamp experience that might have put me off, but I was a last minute book, have camped a few properties, and the risk felt right for having a bed for the night. I had a great stay and would stay again or recommend it to others. Saw beautiful wildlife and enjoyed a peace stay that was much needed. The shower and kitchen house really helped me feel comfortable!
