Awesome spot right on the river! Nicholas made us a fire to take the bite off the December night. Would definitely stay here again!
Stayed here on my way to Redwood National and State Parks - was a really great spot camping on the river! Nicholes was a great host and it was a very convenient place to stop on my way down to the coast.
This was a nice spot for our one night layover. Loved the sound of wind through the trees. The river was easy to access and our host was very attentive.
Nicholes was incredibly friendly, greeting us with cupcake (his small dog), guided us through his amazing property straight to the beach where we camped.
He offered us shitake mushrooms he grew himself and we cooked them with our dinner.
Great guy, beautiful landscape.
Nicholes land along the river is a very special place. Dont follow the coordinates on Hipcamp - only the address he gives you. Nicholes gave us many spaces to choose from to camp. The scenery is gorgeous and the river is perfect for soaking your feet or a mini-dip. Meat bees come if your grilling meat but just throw some down away from your camp and they’ll go for that and leave you alone. He provides a very clean porta potty, garbage & recycling. At night there are the sounds of the highway and dogs barking off in the distance but the chirping crickets and frogs almost drown them out. I highly recommend it to self-reliant campers looking for a beautiful private outdoor space to themselves.
Nicholas was a very nice host, and the area is lovely!
Will definitely go back.
Also, one of the main camping areas is right off the road/parking area, which makes it very accessible for someone with mobility concerns.
Nicholes land is super cool. You essentially get your own private river beach along the Illinois River. Quiet, completely off the grid, and no bugs! Bring a water filter and power supply but otherwise an absolutely beautiful part of Oregon. The river is very swimmable. Nicholes also made me burgers for dinner but I may have just caught him at a good time. Damn good burger too. Thank you Nicholes!
