Welcome to Molalla Ripple!
Enjoy the sound of the Molalla River rolling over the rocks. Wake up to birds chirping and tall trees swaying in the breeze. The campsites are sixty feet apart for privacy and one path leads to the river with two private beach areas to relax. The river flow does change after heavy rains so it may not be suitable to swim in the early spring but fishing is great! The river flows at its lowest level in July and August which helps our learning swimmers enjoy the water. Walk out to the swimming hole from the river path to cool down on a hot summer day.
We work with our local Oregon Department of Forestry to insure that we comply with all campfire regulations along the river. When needed they may or may not issue permits to allow burning. Please respect the neighbors to the north by staying on the same side of the sign reading "END OF HIP CAMP."
On our 25 acre farm known as JSM Ranch you'll see black angus beef cattle grazing on grass pastures along with free range goats, sheep, ducks and chickens. Our beef cattle are 100% grass fed with no hormones, antibiotics or grain finish added. We practice rotational grazing on our farm. Some times the cattle will not be in the fields next to the camp sites. But your welcome to walk our fields to find them. You're only minutes away from the town of Molalla to grab a bite, groceries or other camp items. You won't be disappointed for a great breakfast at Tammy D's (Mulino, OR), sandwiches at Humble Pig or pizza at Bear Creek Pizza & Pub. Please review the rules to ensure everyone's safety and enjoyment as we have electric fences and moving water. Check out our Group site River Rock for bigger families. We change our rates with the seasons.
Thank you,
James Toops

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The spot is beautiful and the hosts were great! Would definitely return.

We loved spending the weekend at Molalla Ripple. James was a wonderful host and had everything prepared. The bathroom and hand washing station were clean and in close proximity to our site. We also enjoyed the views and sounds of the river! I would highly recommend choosing this site for your next weekend getaway!

This exceeding our expectations! This was our first hipcamp experience. Jim and Mary were so welcoming and their space is gorgeous. The sites are very private, the outhouse is sparkling and there’s a hand washing station right outside it. The sites are right on the water which is great to fall asleep to. We ordered firewood to get started and purchased more from Jim during our stay. Beautiful trails to walk and explore. The boys did some fishing but the water was high so we’ll be back once it’s drops a bit to get in some fishing and see the swimming hole. We stayed in site #3.

I stayed two nights at Molalla Ripple camp site #3 with my pup! And it was pure joy! Quite, peaceful, clean & safe. The swimming hole was also private and easy to lounge in and around. The sounds of the birds compete with the sound of the water some hours of the day, couldn’t ask for better music for a get away soundtrack. Thank you for opening up your land for others to enjoy! I’d love to come back!

Serene riverside camping, just what we needed! With fresh water and clean toilets we enjoyed a dreamy weekend, with cute cows checking in on us as we played by the river. Can't wait to come back when it's swimming season.

Great spot right on the river! Good spacing between sites allows for privacy. We had a great time!
Nice location along the river. Site was bit small and not very level (site 1). Access was toght for a full size van. James and his daughter, Sam, were great hosts and are actively making improvements.
We had a wonderful two nights at Molalla Ripple. We switched over to Site 2 and were the only campers so we had space to relax and play with our dogs. Loves the cows grazing, the sound of the river all day and night, and watching the bats come out at sunset over the river. Site 2 has the best view of the river, but the other sites have a little more privacy. The fire pit was awesome as it has an attached grill. Pottapotty and hand washing station next to camp and pretty clean! Thanks for a great time, James!
