Family friendly camping on a farm
Andrea and John were so kind and generous of their time and resources. They were flexible with our late check in, in spite of arriving at dark, Andrea was waiting for us to show us to our site. We drove a few yards into the canvas tent site. During the wet months the site did not have electricity running through it so we made use of our lanterns and headlamps. But Andrea assures us that they will have lights strung up in the future.
We slept well on the futon (even me being 24 weeks pregnant)! In the morning, we made breakfast at the outdoor kitchen just a down the path, there is also an outhouse or "the otter house". The blueberries were all picked for the season but the orchards were still brimming with apples. There was even a family of 6 that came out to pick the apples. We would love to come back in the warmer months and pick blueberries!
Andrea is a wonderful host. The outdoor kitchen is fully equipped with stove, sink (runnig water), pots/pans, spices and dishes. The view from the tent is absolutely beautiful. Highy recommend.
Pears and apples and berries!
We loved it here. Andrea and John have created a delightful oasis amongst apple trees and blueberries and starry skies. And they were really responsive and kind and generous to us and our two kids. The canvas tent is spacious and brand new. The community kitchen was great too - it had all we needed. Can’t wait to come back!
Andrea's farmstay is a lovely and peaceful place. The tent was excellent. As a small family, we especially enjoyed using the outdoor kitchen next to the apple orchard every day. Andrea was kind and helpful, with a great knowledge of her land, and the produce she grows upon it. Picking blueberries was another highlight of our trip. Would recommend to anyone wanting a fun and peaceful camp on a farm.
Fun stay at the farmstay!
We had a wonderful time at Andrea's farm. Andrea was gracious in answering all of my questions about her farm, while she was eating dinner and she had a great suggestion for a gluten free restaurant nearby. We loved sleeping in the platform tent. It was airy and clean. We also enjoyed picking and eating the blueberries, which were way better than the ones you can get at the store!
Idyllic! fresh veggies 4 dinner
Andrea and John have obviously spent a lot of life and love working their farmstead. We rolled in tired and hungry, and turned the kids loose on the blueberries, which bought us some time. They invited us to peruse the garden and pick what we needed for dinner, which was welcome because our plan up to that point was spaghetti with hot dogs. We picked a zucchini, an onion, a green pepper, and some kale and sautéed it up in their outdoor kitchen, and served it on a picnic table under the little orchard.
The tent they have set up was a welcome change after 5 days in a camper van, and we all enjoyed it.
Great destination for kids!
More than blueberries
Crepuscular light brought a distant cacophony of nature sounds and the night beckoned me to watch the stars grow brighter while a few meteors drew lines across the darkness. Then to awake with a golden sunrise and dew escaping into the morning air. And if that was not enough, the next day provided time to pick and eat a few blueberries. Andrea is a welcoming and wonderful host who gives you ample time and space to walk the garden and/or enjoy the privacy of your tent. A short walk to the orchard where you will find a communal outdoor kitchen, outdoor compost toilet (lovingly know as the otter house), and a shower. Andrea and John's respect and passion for the land is evident in how we were treated, their creative resources, and the earth's bounty.
