Camp in the Hay Loft of the Horse Barn. Enjoy a great view on a beautiful 68-acre farm! Join us to slow down.

We have 30 Farm Program animals at our non-profit, children's program so enjoy horses, donkeys, cow, goats, sheep, pig, geese, chickens, ducks, dogs and cats too.  "Squire" cat is the black cat that lives in the barn.  He is a cuddle-bug.

Also enjoy getting on our antique tractor, playing on the horse swing, tossing horseshoes, going for a nice nature walk, and seasonal berry picking (available two places down when berries are in season).

Our place is located close to the Columbia Gorge, the Columbia River and waterfalls. You'll be just over three miles from Crown Point and the Vista House overlooking the entire Columbia River Gorge.

Note that this space is only available to families with kids six (6) years old and over. And please plan on adhering to the "House Rules." We thank you in advance.

The space and amenities

We have benches, tables, chairs, lamps, electricity, tea kettle, tea and coffee bags, port-a-potty, etc. No tent needed! Bring your camping pads or sleeping bags, bedding, camping stove and your own "kitchen box," etc. There is no refrigerator or microwave available.  Bring your cooler, camping box and cook stoves.

Water is available on the property and there is an outside sink for you to use and to get water.  Bring a water container too. The space is pretty clean, secure and dry.  In the summer, we will have fans for you.  Hay is stored in the barn and our cat, Squire, lives there too.

Location

We are located in a rural area just 1.2 miles off the Historic Columbia River Highway near Corbett, Oregon and about 3-4 miles to Crown Point and the Vista House where you can take in the expansive view of the Columbia River Gorge. We are just 15 minutes from Multnomah Falls and close to many other beautiful waterfalls along the Gorge. We are located just 10 minutes to Troutdale, 15 minutes to Gresham, 20 minutes to the Portland Airport and about 30 minutes to downtown Portland.

Activities and add-ons (schedule this with us first please & there are additional costs.)

You can also learn the feeding, health and housing needs of all of our farm animals the next morning if you choose to add on a Morning Chores package (late spring, summer or early fall only and only if we have availability). The animals are always happy to see folks, especially with food in our hands.  An 'Add On' can be a hayride, a fire in our fire pit (unless there is a burn ban), Morning Chores package (two hours), horse riding lesson (1 hour) or drive a horse with a harness and a cart, (1 hour). If we have availability, we would be happy to help you with these.

-Firewood for fire pit $6/bundle (unless there is a burn ban). We will provide kindling and wood.  You please bring matches, lighter, fire starters, paper, etc. and you lay it up and start the fire.  Please be sure that it is doused out, out, out with water when done!

- Hay ride $50.  This takes about a half hour.

- Morning Chores package $75 for up to two people.  (That is $75 for two people, NOT per person.)  Five dollars extra per person past that and maximum of 8 people. During this program, you will have an opportunity to meet the animals up close in their farm homes and learn to feed and care for all the farm animals.  Ask us first please before you book and pay.

- Horseback riding lesson is $75 per hour per horse and one staff person, or we can do two mini lessons for two people in that time.  Ask us first please before you book and pay.

- Drive with Scalloway, our American Miniature horse, in a harness and cart $75.  It takes about an hour or an hour and a half.  Ask us first please before you book and pay.

If interested in these, please contact us in advance and ask. We can see if we have a staff member to teach it or run it and then if so, we can tell you how to book it from our web site. We thank you for your interest.

Checking in

Once booked and you are joining us, meet one of us-Wayne, Dawn or Stephanie- to welcome you, show you around, show you where the fire extinguishers, parking, etc. are and get you settled. You are welcome to come and go as you please once you check in with us! We just must make an appointment with you to get you checked in please. We do not do self-check in. Thanks in advance. Please also recall that we ask you to adhere to our "House Rules."

Overall, it was a neat experience.
We enjoyed the fire pit and the hay loft concept.
Although it is an open loft in a hay barn, and all fixtures and facilities were clean and sanitized, the living/sleeping space could have been vacuumed and/or dusted.

Stephanie was very helpful and looked out out for us during the stay. We appreciated all the creative touches put into the accommodations on the farm. It’s basic camping, bring a mattress pad for the loft floor. The electricity & a kettle in the loft was useful. Though we visited on some extremely hot days, the barn did cool off once the sun set. It is a busy little farm, in summer there is a camp & the whole family enjoyed watching the animals being cared for in the morning. We enjoyed seeing the horses below us and getting to pet the animals. Being right in the middle of the farm was a unique and memorable experience.

Traveling with my grandchildren makes me seek out interesting places to camp. My 8 and 10 yr old loved spending the night in the hayloft! Visiting the animals after dinner and waking up to the sounds of a farm was a treat. If you stay in the loft be sure to bring cots or air mattresses.

Hi. Thanks for staying. It is like camping only you do not need a tent. Sorry, but it is a Horse Barn and not a hotel. Thanks though.

What a privilege it was to stay on Stephanie's farm! Our kids absolutely loved staying there (I don't think I heard them say "I'm bored" once!) and honestly we did too. Nihn Binh, the Vietnamese potbelly pig is just the cutest, and all the other animals were so sweet and obviously well cared for. Lovely experience.

It was a great location, close to Portland and close to outside adventures! My two boys loved waking up to the animals and roaming around the farm in the morning. Stephanie was warm and inviting and the loft was truly an experience everyone should have!

During our stay, the loft space was clean and dry and was equipped with an extension cord along with an electric kettle and alarm clock. We selected the morning chores add-on, and feeding/interacting with the animals was especially wonderful. If you have the time, I would definitely recommend an add-on while you're here.
