We are committed to a private yet supported, roughing-it outdoors camping opportunity. You will have your choice of 2 campsites on a river in a forested area, surrounded by farmland. Cook all your own food over a campfire, or order pizza delivered to the house and we can run it back with the four-wheeler. A pop-up screen and luggable loo bring you privacy for bathroom needs. Wake to the gobble of wild turkeys and possibly the yipping of coon kits or wild coyotes. Bring your pet. You can drive a 4x4 to the campsite, or hike the 1 km of moderate terrain while we run your supplies back with a four-wheeler and cart. Buy campfire bundles or find and chop your own from deadfall in the woods. You do not see any buildings from your site, and we will be sure you and your friends have the campsite to yourself.
During the day you can wade up the river or dangle a line or drop in a canoe. We welcome you to harvest the woods for berries, chop firewood, and wander the trails with your canine family member to enjoy off-leash roaming. Once you turn in for the night, you will sleep well in the quiet with darkness high-lighting the stars.
We are near Millbank with the famous Anna Mae's bakery, between Kitchener-Waterloo and Listowel. You will be immersed in nature but still have access to modern amenities in town!

Exactly what we were looking for!
Valerie, Steve, and their son Wynton were amazingly hospitable over our stay! They went above and beyond our expectations, and from our conversations with them, it’s really clear they have a genuine heart for hosting, wanting to ensure that you have everything you need.
The site itself lives up to the name as it’s about a few minutes drive into their land away from their house/main road, so it’s very private and peaceful. It has everything you’d need for a comfortable camping trip with drinkable well water, a picnic table and log seating for the group, and using the grilling grates over the fire pit was enough to cook for our group of 6. That said, they are always just a call or text away and they can bring additional supplies with their ATV if needed.
It’s really great to wake up to nothing but the sound of nature and Valerie has set up a nice reflection spot right along the edge of the stream if you’d like to just sit and take it all in. Otherwise, you can walk in either direction along the stream and explore. Our stay was around mid-May, so although it got pretty hot during the day, we would still recommend dressing warm when the temperature drops in the evening.
Would definitely recommend their site!
Wonderful host! wonderful camp!
The warmest hospitality I have ever received.
Valerie and her husband Steve have been super nice and kind. They replied fast and made sure I am doing well at the site. They have pots, pans and grill at the site which were super handy. There are a lot of birds around the site and I woke up to those singing. Wonderful experience at Steve&Valerie’s! I would definitely go back!
April camping trip!
This place was sooo beautiful! The hike and site itself were a little muddy this time of year but if you’re into roughing it and don’t mind getting your hands a little dirty then this place in april is a must! Of course during the summer the ground will be much drier and more solid! This is a huge site and it’s so secluded it was lovely! Our dog had a blast running around. Valerie and her son were of great help bringing our supplies to and from the camp site with their tractor and all together ensured we felt comfortable and had anything we needed! We had to cut our trip short because our old dog decided to run into the river first thing when we got there and started getting too cold as the day went on. Valerie and her son helped us pack up first thing in the morning without hesitation to get our pup to warmth. Despite us being a little unprepared for the cold weather this trip was so wonderful and we will definitely be coming back in the summer to enjoy the refreshing river after the nice hike to the campsite and all it’s beautiful scenery!
10/10 recommend this campsite!!
Perfectly private and spacious.
Valerie and her son Wynton took every opportunity to make me comfortable beginning long before my stay. They set up a fire for me, drove out my camping gear on a 4 wheeler, and allowed me all the privacy while there. The property is luxuriously large with seating, a river, trees all over and about 1 km from the main home. Feels like you're back country camping!
Beautiful, quiet, hospitable
Valerie was incredibly accommodating of our group. Her property is beautiful, and the title 'Very Private Riverside' does not disappoint. Nestled in a small meadow beside a creek, far from any roads or earshot of anyone else is where the campsite is. It was very well kept, Valerie provided water and firewood and assisted getting our gear to our site with an ATV.
This was my first Hipcamp trip and my experience on Valerie's property proved as a more beautiful and unique stay than what you may experience car camping in a provincial park.
Thanks Valerie! I'm sure we'll visit again.
A wonderful camping experience
I had a really amazing camping experience here. The location was really amazing. Their farm is beautiful - full of rolling hills and a great view of the sunset. The camping site is tucked away in the back along a beautiful creek far away from any noise where there are trails to explore nearby farms.
Valerie's hospitality was amazing. The weather forecast for the night I was camping was pretty grim at first, but Valerie was very accomodating in providing alternatives to keep me out of the rain. Luckily the weather held out and I spent the night by the creek enjoying a fire.
I highly recommend this spot!
