We are committed to a private yet supported, roughing-it outdoors camping opportunity. Two campsites (total room for 4+ tents) sit side by side on a river in a forested area, surrounded by farmland. We rent our camp to only one group at a time, so you will never hear stranger's voices, only bird song, the gobble of wild turkeys and possibly the yipping of fox or coon kits. Cook all your own food over a campfire, or order pizza delivered to the house and we can run it back with the four-wheeler. A pop-up screen and luggable loo bring you privacy for bathroom needs. Bring your pet. You can drive a 4x4 to the campsite (unless there's been a lot of rain) or hike the 1 km of moderate terrain while we run your supplies back with a four-wheeler and cart. Buy campfire bundles or find and chop your own from deadfall in the woods.
During the day you can wade up the river or dangle a line or drop in a canoe (in spring only). We welcome you to harvest the woods for berries, chop firewood, and wander the trails with your canine family member to enjoy off-leash roaming. Once you turn in for the night, you will sleep well in the quiet with darkness high-lighting the stars.
If your longer stay calls for an outing, you are welcome to use the showers in a separate building at the front of the farm. We are 7 minutes from Millbank with the famous Anna Mae's Restaurant and Bakery. Millbank also features Zehr's Country Market, a family-run grocery and ice-cream shop, Millbank Cheese Factory, and Millbank Country Hardware. Wellesley (8 min) boasts Smitzsville Restuarant and Smitz Bulk Food, a food, ice-cream and gift shop which is an entire experience on its own. Or walk the creaking wooden floors of Canada's oldest family-run grocery store in Linwood (15 min). Our area is immersed in quiet, peaceable farming and a cherishing of old paths. You may be lucky enough to see horses at work in the fields. For longer hikes, the area is criss-crossed with railway trails turned to walking trails for you and your pets.

As always the stay was wondering. Valerie is such an accomodation host and the grounds are peaceful as ever. Will definitely be going back again.

My family love tent camping on Valerie's land,Valerie is very friendly the camp site very private, it's near the river, there's a path by the river, I like to walk there, my daughter likes to play in the river, we'll come back and we'll recommend it to friends

Susanna and family were excellent campers, very brave and wise even though tornado warnings came up and they were chased out!
What a wonderful campsite and experience! It's your wonderful little site along the river! We felt like we were backwoods camping! My dog loved the freedom to run around off leash and swim. Would definitely recommend to anyone who wants a private camping experience.

Thanks for the review Lindsey, you are welcome back anytime!
I had the most wonderful stay at Valerie’s campsite! She really has thought of everything. There were a number of cast iron pans and a grill available for cooking, storage for waste, recycling and compost and the best washroom setup I’ve ever had on a camping trip. There were even solar lights so you could find the loo at night. Valerie was responsive throughout and also very accommodating to my reactive dog, who needs lots of space. Hope to visit again!
Loved it. Wanted to try tent camping somewhere quiet with our dog and this was perfect. Valerie and her family are very kind and generous hosts. They drove our stuff down to the site with their truck. We had some bad weather and Valerie kindly checked in on us to see if we needed anything. So many little touches like the potted plants and little seating areas and the hammock swing make this camp a real gem. Many thanks😊!
We had a wonderful time at this site. Valerie and her family were kind and considerate in their hospitality and the campsite was perfect as advertised. The road back to the site is pretty hilly so only one of the three vehicles our group used could get back there, but Valerie's family used their pickup to drive our stuff in and out. They also supplied us ice, wood, and fresh eggs at reasonable prices, and even loaned us some boardgames. All in all a wonderful time. We hope to come back soon!

Cole's group left the place in wonderful shape, even some pay-it-forward wood chopping! Welcome back anytime, Cole and friends.
Wonderful hospitality from Valerie. Set back a ways so only sounds were of birds and frogs at night. Large level lot to set up. Several walking trails and nice sunsets over the fields. Highly recommended if looking for peace and privacy and tranquility. My lab was in heaven

You were such interesting campers and exceedingly neat with the campsite. I'm sorry I didn't get your review done before my time was up because we were travelling. I hope future hosts will find it here, that you were respectful and gracious gentlemen. Come back if you can, or have fun experiencing other HipCamp sites in all their variations.
Tucked away in a river valley.
Tucked away in a small river valley and completely sheltered from the wind, you can spend your day sitting round an open fire listening to the passing stream and forever chorus of many the many bird species found in the area. It’s an absolute gem of a spot. It was really lovely meeting our Hosts Valerie and Steve who popped down to see if everything was to our satisfaction. Amazing people. I highly recommend.
