I did get there but didn't end up staying as it turned out the stony surface and tight space was not well suited to the small wheels of my little teardrop trailer or to my limited trailer backing skills :-( It's rare to encounter a host as friendly & congenial as Rick. He did offer up another site he said was in the middle of a field near his house but I took a pass, as I had not realized how close the sites are to Hwy 6 or how far the waterfront of his property is--Rick said it is best driven to not walked. I thanked Rick for his courtesy and the fee I paid was his with no hard feelings... being a HipCamp newbie, my learning outcome is the importance of asking questions & clarifications in advance to get a clear picture of what it is.

Rick was very welcoming and helpful. He had even prepared the fire pit ahead of arrival. It's quiet with some wild life. Very nice place !

Let me start off with "Rick is amazing!" Such a great host. He was up late to greet us, and took us out to our camp location, provided plenty of wood each night of our stay. It was perfect, we had a clear night sky, with a meteor shower our 1st night. It was beautiful!

He offered a boat ride around the surrounding water ways (which we would have loved but had other plans already. Next time though, we will!)

Our second night he provided a gas bbq which made cooking more convenient for us, so we didn'thave to pull out our stove. He had provided us a table with welcoming flowers, and a wooden bench to sit at the fire.

On our last day he provided a jar of his personal stash of his grape juice made from the grapes from his vineyard. And a bag of strawberries he was preparing, which are so delicious!

Rick is so awesome, he had an unexpected guest and didn't have a spot ready for him, so his son just cleared a section of tall grass and set up a random site with an beautiful fire pit and beach.

Now the property itself! I'm in love. If we didn't already have plans around Manitoulin Island, we would have spent time on the property. We took our dogs out for a walk around the vineyard and strawberry patch, and down to the water front where Rick's son has a beautiful tiny home he built himself.

We were his last guest for the year as Rick is planning to develop more including yurts and we definitely plan to come back and stay longer. We are looking forward to seeing the changes.

We are now dreaming of relocating there.

We only spent one night in Richard’s vineyard but we definitely wish we would have booked a couple nights. It was such a perfect spot to set up camp. The camping area was so clean, peaceful and overall a beautiful spot.
Rick was wonderful, he was so down to earth and kind. He made sure we were comfortable and that everything was going well. We enjoyed our stay so much, we are looking forward to booking with Rick in the future.

our stay with Richard was incredible! He let us stay on the far end of his property resting beside his vineyard.l, however his house was still relatively nearby. He had cleared the land and it was just grass, and we did not get muddy even though it had rained. The neighbours are not close either so we felt comfortable playing music. He had a gorgeous fire pit set up, benches made out of wood, a table with a bbq and even provided us with firewood. He was welcoming, but gave us lots of privacy. He had more guests that night, however he let them stay at a different location, which we lovely once again to allow us some privacy and we enjoyed an amazing night under the stars watching the meteor showers (which he told us about). Sadly, he said he will close down after we stayed tp make even more wonderful improvements for next year. Hurry and book here, because I bet next year his place would be even more amazing!

Richards camp was the most beautiful campsite I have ever visited, and he was more than generous to provide us with a large table that had a cutting board, a large jug filled with water and a small camp bbq with propane! Also more than enough fire wood to last us through the night👌🏼We were more than pleased with Richards generosity and hospitality while staying on his property and he made sure that we had absolutely everything we needed to be comfortable. There were even string lights to luminate the site perfectly throughout the night and early morning. We saw his resident Bambi just down the path of where we camped and it hung around for quite a while which was quite a cool experience given we had our dog camping with us as well! It was a beautiful setting camping among the vineyard and the stars at night are absolutely gorgeous!! The fire pit was beautifully made and built up so you can have nice fires to either cook on or just hang around it for a relaxing camp:)

We rode the MS Chi-Cheemaun to get to Manitoulin Island from Tobermory, which was a great first time experience and definitely suggest taking that if coming from southern ON. It’s half the travel than driving around to Sudbury, and is a wonderful 1hr and 45min way to experience the channel! The Vineyard however, is very conveniently located; right in the middle between the town of Little Current and South Baymouth. It’s a little more on the remote side which we personally preferred, but make sure you have everything you need as it is about a 30 min drive to other amenities.

Richard was a very friendly and generous host and we greatly appreciated everything he did for us!

We hope to return next year! Thanks again so much Richard!
