Located on Lake Temiskaming, 532 km. north of Toronto,

Maiden bay camp faces the province of Quebec. Individual picnic tables and campsites for tents are nestled in the trees near the lake. A large fire pit is located at the lake for all to use.

It is only 9.5 km. (6 miles) by water to the picturesque village of Villa Marie with its main street specialty stores. other trips might include Old Fort Temiskaming, a national historic site. Lake Temiskaming is 140 km. (90 miles) in length and varies in width from 3 to 8 km. (2 to 5 miles).  It is the headwaters of the Ottawa River System and was used by pioneers to reach the Far North.  "Temiskaming" is an Aboriginal word meaning "deep waters".

The south end of Lake Temiskaming is dominated by steep, wooded cliffs falling into the waters, while the north end is surrounded by rolling hillsides and forests. The Lake is fed by rivers such as the Montreal, the Kipawa, the Matabitchuan and the Blanche.

Tri-Town Area of Cobalt, Haileybury, and New Liskeard, with their shopping malls, hospital, churches, golf courses, and museums, are a 40-minute drive from camp.  Additional attractions might include: a self-guided trip down the Heritage Silver Trail, a scenic trip down Highway 567 to the historic old power dam at Matabitchuan, or the more recently built Montreal River power dam, or a trip to scenic Devil's Rock.
