Make yourself at home in our rustic and cozy 20-foot round repurposed steel granary with acres of woodland, marsh and lake to explore!

Enjoy views of the private lake, wander through the forest or relax in nature in the screened-in gazebo. Enjoy photo ops of wildlife among the lily pads along the dock.

We're located close to the Ottawa River where recreational activities such as paddling, rafting and biking are just a walk, bike or short drive away.

The Lilly Pad is made from an old corrugated steel grain bin that was no longer in use.  Rather than tear it down, we saw its potential as a unique accommodation.  During spring maple syrup season, we found the perfect private "landing" spot overlooking the trout lake in a clearing the beavers had made the previous winter.  The creation of "Lilly Pad Landing" began!

The inside is now an insulated, warm cozy space with a woodstove for heat in the winter and on those cool spring and autumn evenings.  Firewood is available for the woodstove and outside fire pit.  We screened the original hatch in the roof that was used to fill the granary.  It can be opened and closed which makes for a unique skylight.  The rustic floor is 12 inch pine boards sawed ourselves and the beautiful ceiling is made from cedar tongue and groove.

Four people can comfortably share the space.  It's perfect for a couple's getaway or a weekend away with friends.  There's a double bed and pull out sofa bed with pillows.  The kitchen area has a coffee maker and basic dishes and utensils for you to use.  There's Wifi available and a TV for watching a show on a rainy day.  Cooking and toasting are done outside on the grill over the fire pit, charcoal BBQ or propane burner stand by the picnic table.  The three-burner propane stove top stand is conveniently located just outside with a camp-toaster that fits over an element.

The solar panel and battery system, used efficiently, can provide power for running the coffee maker and to power the TV and Wifi.  The system needs a lot of time to recharge so efficient use of the power is necessary to enjoy this convenience throughout your stay, especially in rainy or cloudy conditions.

Our washroom is conveniently attached to the main granary and has a compost toilet. There's a washing area beside the washroom with a large tank of non-potable water running into a sink.

During our second summer we decided to add to the living space by building a 12X8 screened-in gazebo.  It creates a dry, bug-free space to have meals, enjoy a game of cards, or read a book.  There's a table and chairs and plenty of space to relax.  We ask that you don't cook in the gazebo but the charcoal BBQ and fire pit are just steps away.

Whether you're looking for a quiet place to enjoy nature or a base camp for exploring the numerous nearby recreational activities along the Ottawa River, the Lilly Pad is a great location!  Sit on the dock and admire this beautiful little piece of the Ottawa Valley or wander through our 90 acres of woodland.  Depending on the season, there are different things to appreciate but always lots of photo opportunities for wildlife, plants, rocks, moss and the other wonders of forest and marsh.

Although not suitable for swimming, the small non-motorized lake is perfect for wild-life viewing.  The lake is now teeming with wildlife: beavers, ducks, geese, loons and countless Red Winged black birds nesting in the cattails.  Bring your canoe or kayak if you want to get out on the water.  Please contact us if you are interested in fishing during your stay.

If you're looking to enjoy some of the local activities in the Foresters Falls or Beachburg areas let us know and we'll try and help you with information about trails, rafting, swimming or other tourist attractions.

Larry & Alison were lovely hosts and really thought of everything. The directions and signs were very clear with more detailed instructions provided in the cabin. The place was very cozy and even included a TV (although power is limited due to a single solar panel), but you don't come here to watch TV. The surrounding area is beautiful and with a few steps you're by the lake and on a dock where you can use your own kayak/canoe/sup. There is running water (not for drinking) just outside the cabin for washing hands/dishes (dish soap included) and a compost toilet (much nicer than an outhouse) in a separate section for your privacy. The location is great, close to a beach and a brewery. Was great to visit with a toddler.

Great space to play and observe natureYou can bird watch or look for other animals (like a tiny turtle)Seating in the front to admire the full moonClear signs directing you to the cabin and the one trail on the property
