Dragonfly Ridge is a 98 acre farm. Our pretty cabins are perfect for folks to enjoy some glamping in the country, on the farm surrounded by friendly animals.  You can arrange to have a tour of the farm and hang out with donkeys, mini horses, llamas, alpacas, pigs, bunnies, sheep, goats, peacocks, ducks and chickens.  We have a lovely pond, and acres of forest you can explore.  Our farm is on a quiet country road where you can take a walk and enjoy the peace and quiet and connect with nature and one another without the distractions of wifi, street noises or city lights. We are within minutes of the Kawartha Highlands Provincial Park with all there is to see and do there, such as hiking, paddling, exploring, swimming.  We have a fire pit where you can enjoy a spectacular night sky unimpeded by any other lights. The cabin has electricity, lights, electric fireplace for heat. In the cabin we have a double bed, a table and 2 chairs, a two-burner stove with oven, a washing up station. Fall asleep listening to owls call and wolves howling in the distance.  Wake to the sounds of the animals on the farm, you may even be able to arrange to gather your own eggs for breakfast! We are confident you won't want to leave the farm, but in case you choose to explore beyond our 98 acres there is lots to still see and do within only a short drive. We are located close to Buckhorn, where you can explore more lakes, pick your own berries or visit pumpkin patches, pick up groceries or enjoy the restaurants in Buckhorn.  Also, in nearby Bobcaygeon you can find world-class shopping and dining, parks, beaches, festivals, a heritage village, and even more lakes. One hour north of us is Haliburton, with the Haliburton Forest and Wolf visitation Centre, Sir Sam's ski resort, shops and restaurants, and Sir Sandford Fleming's college of Fine Arts. Lakefield is only 35 minutes away offering shopping, a world famous literary festival, fine dining, and antique shows most weekends. Trent University is only 40 minutes south, in Peterborough where you can watch Peterborough Petes play hockey, attend free music festivals in the summer months, experience the best restaurants around, shop, see a movie, watch the boats in the Lift Locks, a World Heritage, visit the canoe museum, skate on the canal, and much more.

Log Cabin
Very quaint and cozy cabin! Went with my 8 year old for 2 nights, lots of land to do winter activities, Sharron even allowed us to build a quinzee and skate on the pond and provided a one of a kind experience with all the animals, went over and above all expectation! First night - 18C, cabin was struggling a bit to stay warm, but under the bedsheets we were cozy and had fantastic sleeps. My daughter was crying because she didn't want to leave the place

A wonderful experience!
I stayed a night with my 13 year old daughter last week and we had an absolutely fabulous experience. Spending time with the animals was a fun and rewarding learning experience for both my daughter and I. All of the animals are friendly and Sharron is an incredible host who ensured our safety and understanding of the farm and animals. If you considering checking out this property do it! I assure you will not regret any time spent here.

Log Cabin
Unforgettable stay in a farm
We loved the animals feeding and llama walk. The trail was so quiet and Sharon is very informative and passionate on the animals. As first timers, we learnt so much about animals and maintaining a farm. The cabinet is absolutely cozy and warm. It was 5 degree outside but we only need a thin long sleeve top. We brought water resistant boots and they help.

The Roost
Magical getaway on a whimsical farm
My husband and I had a fantastic time at Firefly Ridge rescue farm. We arrived quite late the first night due to bad traffic and Molly suggested the tiny cabin which has electricity instead of the roost, which we had booked. This turned out to be a great suggestion. We spent both nights in the cabin and found it cute and cozy. The electric fireplace was a nice touch for when extra warmth was required. The first morning I woke up, there were three little bunnies on the front lawn of the cabin. It felt like I was in a magical place. Little did I know just HOW many bunnies I would see throughout my trip. We said good morning to the two small horses in the yard and walked down to the pond where the pigs greeted us excitedly. The communal firepit and a shelter are next to the pond for cooking and warmth. Our second night we had a lovely fire, materials were provided to us to burn and we were able to start a fire quickly. It's mosquito season, so bring bug spray; we also brought a citronella candle, but it was no match for them. We were sure to put out our fire completely after having a hot dog or two and retired to the coziness of our cabin to relax for our last night. At 8 am, we met with Sharron to help bottle feed the lambs (absolutely precious) and got a tour of the farm that was relaxed but informational. Sharron puts so much into providing a wonderful home for these animals, you can feel it. I recommend this place to anyone craving fresh air, cute animals; and warm hosts.

Cozy log cabin with farm animals
My son loved spending time with the farm animals, and Sharon was a wonderful host. She helped teach our kid all about the animals and about the farm. The log cabin was cozy and comfy, and everything we needed was provided. Molly also responded to all messages very quickly.
