A piece of heaven is what awaits you here. Imagine having your own island you reach by walking across the 15 metre covered bridge with a few areas to set up your tent(s) from where you'll fall asleep listening to the sound of the spring flowing into the pond, what bliss. The other site has a large rectangular pond of its own to ensure everyone has privacy. At this site you can hear the water falling in from the other pond in one ear as well as hear the water flow out with your other ear. We have just installed a small dock to swim or fish off of. The firepit faces the water and the view is beautiful. This is a full sun site but since the pond is surrounded by trees you can just follow the shade and take advantage of the whole site. If you're looking for privacy you will get it here. There is a long grassy section that would be perfect for playing catch, tossing a football or whipping a frisbee. This site can be booked at our other site A Piece of Heaven 2.
Your drinking water comes from Mother Nature, not a well, true spring water that's icy cold and so refreshing. The property is mostly 50 yr old pine trees with a couple walking trails throughout. There are two spring fed ponds which makes them revitalizing on a hot day when you go for a swim.
We are located 10 minutes away from the town of Hanover and the Allan Park Conservation is right beside us and has numerous walking and off road bicycling trails. The Saugeen River is 5 minutes away which you can kayak or tube down, too much fun that is.
Our property offers beautiful scenery, virtual privacy, you see glimpses of our home, peace and tranquility with the backdrop of Mother Nature to be heard, geese, wild turkeys, deer, lots of songbirds, coyotes and oh yes, our big friendly lovable mutt Walker.
The sunsets can be spectacular and later the stars twinkle above and maybe you'll even see a satellite high above while you're stargazing.
Each site has a table (you'll need to bring lawn chairs), firepit with a cooking grill, and a supply of wood you'll have to purchase from us as we are a forestry managed property. A shared outhouse is a pleasant walk within minutes of both sites. Water for dishes and general washing can just be taken from the pond (DO NOT DRINK) Not that it would kill you, lol. Also, the covered bridge is there if, HEAVEN FORBID, it rains, where you can seek coverage and watch and listen to it fall.
There are numerous things to do within a 15 minute drive. A couple dams, 2 conservation parks, drive-in theatre, casino, horse racing, small stock car racing track (great for young kids), two local breweries, a busy local butcher and the Saugeen River. With more destinations as you move outward.
We promise you won't be disappointed and can't wait to share our piece of Heaven with you.

If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
I very much enjoyed my camping experience. Terry and her husband were kind, attentive and very responsive. I loved swimming in the pond and walking around the island that felt magical. I hang my hammock and spend time listening to the water, the wind and the birds. I saw fish and turtles in the pond. I set my tent right by the water and loved the solar lights chandelier provided by the hosts. Fire wood was very dry and kindling prepared so it was super easy to start the fire. Terry gave me a ride on their ATV through the forest to a beautiful hiking trail of Allan Park Conservation Area. Thank you you for sharing your land Terry and Ray!
Excellent, private stay w/ our dog
My girlfriend and I were looking for a quiet camping getaway but didn't want to be surrounded by other campers which would potentially ruin the experience. I am happy to say that Terry's site was everything we could have hoped for and more. Her and her husband's hospitality was amazing and the property itself was stunning.
We stayed for two nights on the island with our dog and it was as tranquil as described. Upon arriving, both Terry and her friendly dog greeted us and the dogs got along great. They showed us around the campsite, and supplied us with some of the best spring water we've ever tasted. Both Ray and Terry made sure we were always taken care of, answering our questions and topping up our water frequently.
There are plenty of hiking trails that you could walk to in 10 minutes from the large property, and Terry would be more than happy to give you a tour of the grounds. We really saw the passion and commitment both Terry and Ray had for this. It's a big property to maintain, and they easily could have 7 or 8 campsites scattered around, but instead opt to only 2 because they understand what makes this place special - the quiet nature of it.
The outhouse is basic, but gets the job done and the firewood/kindling was extra, but you would be hard pressed to use all of it (we used less than half of it during our stay). Compared to picking up wet bundles on the road around town this was a great deal for the excellent dry wood you get.
Thank you Terry & Ray! - O + J
Piece of heaven, 10000% !
What an absolutely beautiful experience!
We were greeted by Ray when we arrived at the property and he was so kind as to walk us around our own PRIVATE island! it was just magical. Terry and Ray showed us all of the amazing spots on the island from the beautiful overlook of our own private pond ( we sat on the bench here both nights of our stay and watched the most spectacular sunsets!) To the natural springs, private outhouse facility as well as the trails to walk on off of the island. the 50 acre property is that of a dream! And the love story about the bridge to walk across to the island is just beautiful! <3
Terry and Ray made sure we had everything we needed to make out weekend as perfect as could be and it was just that!
Fresh natural spring water was provided as well as the BEST firewood for the whole weekend.
There were plenty of spots to set up our tent and where we set up overlooked the fire and the pond!
We walked the property over the 2 days with our fur baby, drank right from the natural springs, went fishing and swam every morning, afternoon and night!
The fire pit had a grill so we cooked everything we brought on it and it was just lovely.
The warmth and kindness provided by both of our hosts were exceptional. Such wonderful people!
My only regret is not staying longer!
Greatest thanks to the best hosts and our new friends. We cant wait to see you again.
Threated and unaccountable
Overall the site was good, however hosts were not. Upon arrival their dog immediately showed aggression towards ours and we received a “he’s not normally like this” rather and an apology. Furthermore after repeatedly telling the hosts that our dog COULD NOT SWIM their reply was “I’ve never heard of a dog that couldn’t swim” and the next day threw our dogs stick in the water and kicked him in to prove that he could swim, which resulted in us leaving a day early and not being able to finish our stay. We submitted a complaint on Hipcamp and the hosts emailed me on my personal account threatening to have me removed from hipcamp overall. Overall immature and unprofessional threatening a paying customer after issue being resolved through hipcamp.
Beautiful site. overbearing, hosts
The site itself is very beautiful. However the hospitality we received was over barring and very rude. We booked to have a 3 night 4 day stay ended up leaving after 2 nights. Our first greeting was mediocre at best. The site says it is pet friendly, however their pet is not friendly as my dog was nipped at 5 times in 2 days just because he was being pet by the owner. The hosts also made several verbal complaints that our dog was in a life jacket and on a leash while we where there. As well they do not believe that a dog can not swim and the gentlemen named Ray went out of his way to kick my dog into their pond before watering his cannabis plants that where on our site. And sitting down for 30 minutes at a time touching our property and making more verbal complains about our dog. I would absolutely not recommend this site if you do have pets and are looking for a quiet get away. The reviews for this site made us want to go but the experience we had while we where there were far from worth spending 100 dollars for 3 nights we had to leave early due to feeling so overwhelmed by how unprofessional these hosts where to me and my family. Also after sending a complaint email we received a personal email from Terry herself saying “you would be lucky to ever use hicamp again”. Horrible experience.
A true piece of heaven
Terry and Ray were great hosts for our first Hipcamp trip. Our site allowed us to have a completely separate experience from the campers on the other side of camp. We were taken care of with water, great fire wood, and friendly tips and resources to enjoy everything the property has to offer. Terry and Ray have great pride in their land and take very good care of Hipcamp visitors.
Serene place. great spring water.
I came here with my dog, Sheba, for some much needed R&R. Site 1's large pond is serene with surprisingly very few mosquitoes. Terry & Ray strive to make sure you have everything. Their bone-dry firewood is awesome. All my fires were one-match fires. They supply crystal clear spring water from a spring on their property that they can show you. The water was the perfect temperature for swimming and the two ponds are super clean, spring-fed. I swam in both. Hanover is very close and has plenty of stores in case you forget something.
Our favourite camping location ever
My wife and I just got back from a 3 night stay here and wish we could have stayed longer. I’m not sure where to even begin with this breathtaking property , but I will start at the beginning. We were a little late getting into town , however when we arrived at the property, we were greeted by our two lovely hosts Ray and Terry, and their lovable 4 legged assistant, walker. Terry was kind enough to give us a mini tour of the island, and from the second we crossed the bridge, we really did feel like we had discovered a little piece of heaven. You will be camping on a good sized, completely private island, surrounded by crystal clear water. You see birds around and can see fish swimming by the water right beside your campsite. We’ve camped our whole lives, and never been to a place that is as perfect as this. If you’re looking for a camping trip that will take your breath away the whole time, this is it. Enough room here for as many tents as you needed, a beautiful lakeside fire pit, a canoe tied up at the tip of the island, with a comfy little bench to watch the sun set. Terry and Ray were both wonderful people, who each made effort to ensure we had everything we needed, and each provided us with interesting conversation and we even scored a tour of their beautiful property. If your breath is taken way by your private island, just wait until you see the other lakes on the property. A highlight for me was seeing their natural spring, and drinking this icy cold delicious water.
Heavenly island camping
We have stayed at around 25+ hipcamps and this was easily one of the best (seriously). We stayed on the island which was absolutely awesome. You park quite close to the site, just on the other side of the nice little covered bridge, a quick walk over to this gorgeous campsite. They have some nice extra chairs/table for you on the bridge if you need it. They also had a 5gallon (sorry don't know the liter conversion for that.. but it's the big one eh) spring water fresh and ready to go for us when we got there. Check out their natural spring where they got the water! One day it rained and we were out (went to Saubel beach, a pretty little beach town - Terry and Ray recommended it.. we liked it better than Tobermory) and Terry was nice enough to put our stuff under the bridge to keep it from getting wet, thanks Terry! you already know you're cool as can be. The site itself was serene, private and cleared nicely (very comfortable inside our tent). There was a nice fire pit, perfect for cooking on, $25 for a ton of wood and kindling (perfectly dry and good enough for at least a few days of you use a lot). A picnic table with a light and a cool little solar chandelier for night (don't forget to put it in the sun in the morning). There was a nice little boat there to mozy around on and just incredible scenery of the sunset and the stars. Terry and Ray were both nice, generous, real and cool as you can imagine. Thanks for sharing your slice of heaven with us. Y'all are the best.
