Great location & wonderful host
Our stay at Triple D was outstanding. Frank happened to be there dropping of firewood when we arrived and he is a super hospitable guy. He gave us some tips about things to do and see in the area and made sure we knew we could contact him if we had any issues.
The location is great! Directly across the street is Zaleski State Forest. We went and visited the Moonville tunnel, (which is pretty neat), climbed up the old fire tower and went to the Lake Hope State Park lodge for a meal. There are a couple of towns within 15 minutes if you need to run to the store.
The site: Triple D is close to the road but we only saw about 2 cars per day go by so it FEELS like you have the forest to yourself. The outhouse is nice and was stocked with TP and brochures about local attractions. The shelter was a huge bonus and allowed us to sleep in our hammocks even though it rained all night. If I remember right, I think there was space to set up 6 hammocks between the posts.
There is a picnic table and a big old wooden spool that is the perfect height for setting up a camp stove to cook on. The open space is perfect for family lawn games. We brought our archery target and whiled away the hours getting in some practice with our bows.
We will definitely be back!
Our stay at Triple D was everything we wanted. We had fantastic weather our first two days and took advantage of the wide open area to play ball with our pup and kids(6 and 4). The trails on the property were great for exploring. We cooked over the fire for every meal, the outhouse was clean and very much appreciated with two children. Each night the stars were clear and the coyotes were howling! Our last morning was rainy, but no worries with the large shelter to still enjoy breakfast and pack. Our family and our pup loved our weekend in the woods and will definitley be back. Thank you for sharing your slice of solitude with us!
Fun, little relaxing getaway!
We enjoyed our stay at Triple D Retreat! It was our first time camping in years and it was nice to get away and not worry about seeing anyone! The property is pretty and we did a short trip to Moonville.
Great place to think and relax
Awesome place, quite, only 2 vehicles pass our sight while we were there. Very secluded spot and very well kept. The road the address didnt match up directly on the gps to where the camp was at but was easy to spot driving past depending the direction you go it might be a little hard to get turned around so pay attention the the numbers on the road. Besides that absolutely amazing spot, will be going back again next month and strongly recommend it for other if you like a nice quiet area!
Quite private campsite.
A nice private campsite great for tents, and small trailers. Right off the road but we only saw about 3 cars pass the entire time. The outhouse was clean and easily accessible. Nice fire pit and shelter area as well. We plan on visiting again next time we are in the area.
Site was great. Very spacious but secluded. Definitely recommend to people that have roof top tents. A little hard to find at night but not a big deal. I will definitely come back maybe with a larger group.
