Beautiful views, great getaway!
My boyfriend and I were looking for a campsite that had more privacy, away from other people. We found that at Rusty’s Retreat. It has a little bit of everything. Wooded campsites along a creek that feeds into the river, beautiful views of vast fields that go for miles, even a large pond where our host and hostess let us use their paddle boat.
Jay was a great host who started a fire for us before we got there later in the evening. He showed us around and gave us lots of options of things to do. All in all we had a great experience and plan on going back and maybe staying in Rusty’s Loft which is not quite finished yet, but beautiful!
What an amazing campsite. Jay was very accommodating the site was quiet and enjoyed the stay at this campsite. Jay is proud of what he's doing and he aims to please. Look forward to going back.
Very peaceful and convenient
We went for a quick stop and to enjoy a bit of nature. We found a great place with the best host that will make sure you have everything to enjoy your needs and have a great time. Will totally go again and try the loft he’s building.
We really enjoyed Rusty’s Retreat. Although the pond wasn’t ready for swimming yet, there was many things to enjoy on the property such as paddle boat, kayaks, paths to explore, and all the cool animals. Jay, our host, was super hospitable and really seems to enjoy sharing all the wonders of his property. It was a fun trip even for the teenagers.
A fun farm stay for the whole famil
This place is awesome! Jay is very friendly and accommodating, the farm and land are beautiful, the animals are friendly, and our weekend camping trip was filled with memories that will last a lifetime. Thanks for a great stay, and for your help getting us settled in!
Nice place to camp that’s about it.
When I came across the posting for openings at Rustys Retreat I was super excited to book our spot. Advertising there are kayaks, a river and a stocked pond for fishing. I was looking for a fun filled Memorial Day weekend camping trip with my fiancé so I thought this was it. Once we arrived after our 3 hour road trip we were told that the spot we booked had been taken, we were pretty disappointed but Jay showed us a different, more secluded spot which was actually much nicer than our original reserved spot so we decided to stick it out. We did some exploring and hiking around which was great. This is a very beautiful little farm. We got up our first morning and was going to go kayak on the river but when we got to the kayaks they were already being used (only two). So we then decided to do some fishing... Since the “River” is more what you’d call a creek isn’t deep enough to do much in we walked up to the “stocked” pond. It’s VERY beautiful and fenced in on the owners property so their three very active big dogs were running around and jumping in the water while we were there. Which isn’t really a huge problem but kind of difficult to catch any fish when they’re being scared away. But none of that really mattered too much because the pond was so completely covered in algae we couldn’t cast without snagging. So if you’re looking for a nice quiet place to camp this is it. But if you’re looking for any activities while staying at Rustys Retreat you may want to go elsewhere.
